  1. Great question. Hope someone can shed some light on this What a classic photo.
  2. if they pick a popular singer (i.e. a Grohl, etc) it will be a disgrace. If they pick someone new and relatively unknown it *could* be intriguing. Would particularly like to hear someone that can sing Bon era songs well. Never liked Brian's renditions.
  3. It certainly *is* the best VH album... voted for Hear about it later and one foot...
  4. Scenes is the best album DT ever produced. But its nowhere near the ballpark of 2112.
  5. That's because you clearly don't understand the toll of aging, after a 40 year career of a highly physical sort. But you will someday. What Alex said is nothing new. If you saw the Forum show last year, you saw the last Rush show. THIS.
  6. Signals. Absolutely no contest, IMHO. While I like all the synth era albums, Signals is the only one that I consider (the last) part of the golden era of Rush.
  7. In terms of being an album that can induce listening fatigue, I think I agree. Material-wise, no. To each his own, carry on. Yep. for the record though, the material, not the production was the problem (for me).

    Presto!

There are some enjoyable songs on the album -- chain lightning, hand over fist, and available light in particular -- but its nowhere close to the band's best output. And song for song, the much maligned Roll the Bones is better.
  9. Nothing special but not a bad song.
  10. Prompted by the praise its getting here, I popped the album on the other day. Couldn't get past the 3rd song/title track. Ranks at the bottom for me - only album Id put this ahead of is Vapor Trails.
  11. If this is true its a meh setlist at best. Not alot of rare stuff here (DejaVu is one of their worst IMO), and is it *really* necessary to add more long tunes like Sign/DoD alongside the BOS material? If this ends up being the official setlist Im glad I didn't pay the big dollars to see them this spring.
  12. I literally can't stop listening to this album. Their best in decades.
  13. Didn't like it at all, with the exception of the appropriate strings in manhattan project.

    Caress of Steel

Love it top to bottom. Listen to it more than 2112. In my top 5 Rush albums all time.
  15. Middletown. 1000X better. One of the most underrated songs in the Rush canon.

    Rush ads

Great thread idea -- keep these coming!
  17. Counterparts, maybe, Caress of Steel, never Precisely. Not in even the same stratosphere.
  18. This is how I see it, ranked from worst to first: 19)Vapor Trails 18)Snakes and Arrows 17)Clockwork Angels 16)Roll the Bones 15)Test for Echo 14)Rush 13)Presto 12)Power Windows 11)Fly By Night 10)Hold Your Fire 9)Counterparts 8)Hemispheres 7)Grace Under Pressure 6)Caress of Steel 5)Permanent Waves 4)A Farewell to Kings 3)Signals 2)2112 1)Moving Pictures
  19. Speak for yourself. Signals is hands down my favorite Rush album of all time, and I like the entire rest of the period with the exception of the overrated (IMO) Power Windows, of which I like half. Part of me wishes they modernized their synth-rock sound in their latter years, instead of the noisy mess we got on Vapor Trails through CA.
  20. Power Windows is an average album (seriously).
