  1. There's footage of this encounter with Peart and Watts on the bonus features of the Toronto Rocks DVD package. There's two versions of the package, in which one is a Canadian edition featuring the Canadian acts on the bill. Back in 2002, The Rolling Stones filmed segments of various stops on their Forty Licks Tour. These segments were available as clips to buy on the Stones website. One of them was titled 'We Want Rush! - Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee of Rush talk about the Stones'.
  2. The first bit is from the RUSH: Time Stand Still documentary. The second and third bits are from Traveling Music The Soundtrack to My Life and Times.
  3. I thought it was cool when The Stones did a cover of 'Bob Wills Is Still the King' written by Waylon Jennings in Texas awhile back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRJJmhMo7Nw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwEOZtJm8pU
  4. Canadian power-rock hitmakers Triumph revisit their ’80s heyday and prepare to meet devotees in this upcoming documentary directed by Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX0CyneBdy0 The Banger Films-produced Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine will make its world premiere September 10 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as noted here.
  5. Another milestone accomplishment is that Watts was the only member of the band to have been married the longest to his one and only spouse for 57 years.
  6. I think Mick and Keith should do one last tour with Steve Jordan on drums and then be done. The Stones would've been together for 60 years since 1962. Unless Mick and Keith decide to continue on and become Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend with backup musicians.
  7. Charlie Watts and Ginger Baker both survived to 80 years of age. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YDAdE8E1Rg Watts presented Baker with a lifetime achievement award beginning at the 2:12 mark.
  8. Here's a tidbit of information I learned. Ben Mink was recently interviewed on CBC My Playlist, which is a podcast special where Canadian artists from a variety of musical genres share their favourite tracks. The song 'Hey Doll Baby' was one of the tracks chosen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZXDnGsX14s In the mid 80's, Ben teamed up with k.d. lang and they were recording Angel with a Lariat, with Dave Edmunds as producer. Edmunds had an acoustic guitar once owned by Don Everly that Mink played on the song 'Tune Into My Wave'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRZ_MyG0fXw On a side note, Edmunds produced The Everly Brothers album EB 84.
  9. Re-post your tribute please. I've already sent the PM to have mine removed.
  10. I just posted something minutes before you did. I'll have the admin take my thread off of here.

  16. If Neil Young's Pono Music Portable Music Player hadn't been discontinued, you would've had high-resolution audio.
  17. The blame goes to the individual who gave Geddy the Robinson's "Iron Maiden -Trooper" beer. That's when the wheels started turning for the Rush beer. It's the same scenario where someone approached Geddy of swapping a vintage 1953 Fender Precision bass with one of the older basses he had. That's when the wheels started turning for his collecting of vintage bass guitars and the book Big Beautiful Book of Bass.
  18. Agreed. I am not sure anyone besides Rush beats these guys in Canada. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hocv8EB_vk
  19. Better people -- better food -- and better beer Why move around the world when Eden was so near? I get home at five o’clock, and I take myself out a nice, cold beer. Always seem to be wond’rin’ why there’s nothin’ goin’ down here.

  24. Check it out below from Billboard. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Reunite for 'Raise the Roof' Album, 2022 Tour. Here's the first single 'Can't Let Go', which is a Lucinda Williams cover. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-K2ab86KtY The new album will be released on Nov 19th. On the duo's first album, they were 'raising sand'. Now they're going to 'raise the roof'. Next thing you know, they might 'raise a little hell', to quote the Canadian band Trooper. zepphead will probably be happy about this.
