  1. Thanks so much for your replies!

A trend I've noticed is that you post random questions once in a blue moon about subjects pertaining to the R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour video.

Hopefully you can be more active and contribute something to the forum.

  2. Ya I think only a few hundred made. I'm just feeling it out I really don't want to sell it. Entertainment went bottoms up and left me with scarce work. Got a SOUNDGARDEN poster collection that's pretty amazing also

I used to know of an individual who works in corporate management.

He claims to have been a live sound engineer in the late 80's to mid 90's for some big music acts.

Then he reinvented himself at age 30 and took business courses and now works in the corporate world.

  3. Today I saw four of these compilations albums (noted here) on what's considered 'classic soft rock'.

As I'm browsing the track selection on each of them, the majority of songs don't fit into the above mentioned category.

How is 'Heat of the Moment' by Asia, 'More Than A Feeling' by Boston, and 'The Doctor' by The Doobie Brothers considered 'classic soft rock'?

This made me think of Entre_Perpetuo's poll threads on what songs are really considered 'power ballads'.

Thanks! Interesting to see. I wonder why the Aston Martin didn't sell? He doesn't say if it didn't meet the reserve price or if something else happened??

We don't know. Gooding & Co doesn't release that information. So unless one were watching live they wouldn't know. I tried looking for a live broadcast I couldn't find one.

According to Melody Maker, bids did not meet reserve.

The Aston Martin did eventually sell according to here.

No Big Book of Bass or Permanent Waves. Anthem had a big ad at the beginning promoting a :eh: country artist, a couple of Christmas albums Jose Feliciano with Dolly Parton and a tribute to Jose by other artists. That was a bit weird but not much else in the way of promotions.

Those two things (Big Book of Bass short and the Permanent Waves Deluxe ad) are more or less past promotional items anyway.

The Big Book of Bass short is below.

  6. I'm going to use two Canadian examples here with Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Rush in relation to this topic.

Both bands were signed to Mercury Records, but each achieved success in a different way.

Members of both bands get mentioned in these article pieces and a 2002 video interview below.

    Creem - March 1976

It's kind of hilarious that Randy Bachman has praised Geddy, Alex, and Neil as individual musicians, but not the music per se.

Alex is featured in Bachman's documentary as noted here.

Perhaps critics will give praise to music that's easily accessible, but other music isn't given that praise.

  7. I discovered and started listening to the Rush - Complete Rockline Broadcasts 1984-2008, which is posted here.

From listening to the first Rockline episode, baseball player Warren Cromartie is mentioned. Cromartie and the Montreal Expos are thanked in the Signals album's liner notes. Then later on Geddy made a vocal appearance on Cromartie's AOR band Climb (formed with David Rosenthal of Rainbow) on the song 'Who's Missing Who'. It turns out Cromartie is an accomplished drummer as well.

Then later on, baseball player Randy Johnson is also a Rush fan and later becomes friends with the band. He was the official R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour photographer (noted here) and also plays drums.

What is it about baseball players who play drums as their chosen instrument? What's the connection?
