  1. No fair! I got my mouth washed out with soap as a kid when I called my brother a pansy and treeduck gets nothing?!?!?
  2. She must surely be a member of this forum. And I wouldn't be surprised if Neil sees the show and mentions it in a future blog.

    Lost

What I loved most about LOST was the psychological aspect; the characters' backstories and how they were interrelated before arriving on the island. I wish they would have stuck more with that and not gone off in so many other directions such as the monsters, good guys vs. bad guys, etc. Loved the ending and will remember it the rest of my life. I agree with your comments above LedRush but religious-y and allegorical stuff really appeal to me which probably explains why I liked it.
  4. I'm not much of a drinker but tonight I am going to raise a glass of The Macallan while watching the final episode. And then a glass or two more to drown my sorrows. Farewell Don Draper and Mad Men!
  5. There are tix available at fan resale https://rush.shop.ti...&eventId=164447 Hooray!!! I can't thank you enough for that info LedRush, I like the seat they offered very much -- Floor 2, Row 29, Seat 11. Just when I think I know all the ins and outs of buying concert tickets, nope, I find I have a lot to learn, LOL.
  6. Anyone get tickets for San Jose yet? It seems to be for VIP Gold and Silver packages only, hard to tell and even those have no seats available.
  7. It's been a few days since you asked so you may have found it already. If not, try this: http://www.rush.com/picturetime/
  8. Happy Birthday Jamie, I hope this will be your best year ever!!!
  9. Yes they did Cygnus 2112, as did Quincy Jones and a couple of others (be they band members or introducers) whose names I forget. I've dubbed this part of the ceremony the "Angry Black Men Segment" which went on for around 2 hours! Our collective patience was really being tested, folks were getting restless and truth be told, I was beginning to get a little nervous that things might get out of control. But in a way sitting through all that just made it that much sweeter when the band from Toronto was introduced! Don't mean to sound negative or racist - and I will understand if the mods want to move or delete this post - but it's just my take on the night. Still it was the best night of my life, I was overflooded with memories & emotion with nearly everyone who stepped on stage (Carole King! Cheech & Chong!! Heart!! and so on) culminating with Rush of course.
  10. Did Alex go too far? Not nearly as far as a few others on stage that evening, starting with Harry Belafonte. Those of you who were in attendance know what I'm getting at here. At least Alex didn't try to force the audience into endless, mindless drivel chanting of "the blues gave way to rock and roll, the blues gave way to rock and roll, the blues gave way to rock and roll" ad nauseam. I'll take Alex's blah, blah, blah over that any day.
  11. Glad you confirmed (for me) with that link Robert because I can't get the picture I took to upload here. Yeh, it's the same starman bottle.
  12. I do Robert and have never used it so it's good as new. Give me your address in a PM and I'll be happy to send it your way! ~ Becky
  13. This was an easy vote but I will not be able to do so in the next round, which will be Led Zeppelin vs. Rush. That is the ultimate Sophie's Choice for me! I would like to see either of those two go against The Who in the final bracket.
  14. Too bad your friend didn't attend last year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. That was like a 5 or 6 hour indoctrination of how "the blues gave way to rock and roll". And I'm sure if the night had lasted much longer we would have received a sermon about "the blues giving way to weird Japanese crap" too. :D Of course I'm kidding somewhat about that. It was a fantastic evening, the best time of my life, but there was an excessive amount of complaining by some presenters and performers about how the blues are underrepresented in R&R HofF.
  15. I'm quite the private, introverted person like Neil is and it's hard to share my life on a public forum, but feel I may have a worthwhile contribution to this topic. Or at least an experience that may be interesting to some. It's taken me 3 days to actually read the blog (which was fascinating and educational as always) because I have been too excited with the pictures, looking at them over & over, saving them to every pc, laptop, ipad, etc, in the house. Why? Because in so many of the photos he is wearing the hat I knitted and gave to him.......a year and a half ago!! The same one that he gave me recognition for in his March blog of last year! I never dreamed that he would still have the hat, much less still be wearing it, a year later. This speaks volumes for his character. You see, I am not the demonstrative type and words/expressions of love do not come easily for me. But I do try to SHOW people how much I care by doing things for them. Cooking, cleaning, helping out with various needs, and sewing and knitting unique objects which display their interests and personalities are things I do for my family and loved ones. Am sure most here can relate to that. As well as is the case that so often those closest to you will be negative and rebuke or even refuse these expressions of love. There have been numerous times that I've been hurt, having put much thought, time & money into knitting what I thought was the perfect item for a relative only to later find it in the corner of the closet gathering dust, or given to Goodwill, or as my Mother did, returned to me a dozen years later saying she had never worn it. Mentally, I know it's not true but it FEELS like they are rejecting me when they reject that part of me. So coming from this perspective, it feels like Neil is one of the rare folks who seems to appreciate what I did and I interpret it as his way of acknowledging me and accepting my love. It's such a great feeling and I will always hold him in the highest esteem and close to my heart because of this!! (I also knitted 2 scarves, one for Geddy and for Alex and I'm hoping they or one of their family members found a time or two to wear it. If not, I love them still anyway, LOL) This is a very selfLESS act by Neil. And like MMCXII said above, every minute that Neil spends at his drumkit, or writing lyrics to a song, or a book, is a selfless act of love and appreciation he is giving to all the fans and a way of earning money to support his family. That definitely warrants my respect.
  16. Well, I don't know how to play golf or ride a motorcycle and I don't enjoy wine or baseball so it's gotta be number 4. And does my private boudoir count as a "favorite watering hole"? That's where I want the private concert. And they can play anything they want! Or nothing at all is fine too.
  17. Yeh, what's up with that? Do you think it's because I did a cut & paste from the LZ forum? It's the first time I've started a topic and noticed how faint it was but thought it might get darker upon posting. Apparently not.
  18. Very nicely done. It looks like your father - and mother - created a wonderful family. I can feel your love and pride; thanks for sharing here.
  19. Picked this up from the Led Zeppelin forum today: British rock photographer Ross Halfin's online diary entry for this past Monday, May 27th describes how he went to a record fair with Jimmy Page and played him Rush's Fly By Night in the car: May 27th: A very nice and sunny - and hot - Bank Holiday Monday. Did I sit in the garden and enjoy it? No, I drove to Jimmy Page's, picked him up and headed to Reading to the record fair. As I had Rush's Fly By Night in the car it was time for Jimmy to experience Anthem and Beneath, Between and Behind on the motorway. He liked the drumming and I did catch him listening to Alex Lifeson. Jimmy told me he liked La Villa Strangiato. ... Jimmy Page is one of Alex Lifeson's biggest influences. Alex talks about finally meeting his idol in this 2006 Guitar Player interview http://www.cygnus-x1...yer-03.2006.php Halfin has photographed a number of rock icons over the years including Rush. http://www.rosshalfi...ry-may-2013.php
  20. Those are in the New World Women forum.
  21. Very funny dreams nhlrush and edm2112.......funny in a sad way of course. :P Isn't that referred to as 'shooting yourself in your own foot' nhlrush? I had a couple of neurotic Rush dreams like that too, several years ago and I still remember all the details. Too long to write it all up but in a nutshell, in the first one I was in a small, select group of people who were invited to a barbecue dinner on stage right in front of Alex during an outdoor concert. Well right away I realized I had left my purse with a friend at the back of the amphitheater and left the stage to go find her. I was getting lost and then it started raining, finally found my friend and made her drive me into town to buy an umbrella. By the time we got back the concert was over as Geddy was saying his final "thank you Seattle"! I woke up on the verge of tears asking myself "are you really that anal retentive?" and knew that at least a part of me is. The other dream was equally pathetic, lol.
  22. Loved this video so much I had to resurrect this thread in order to tell you so and to be able to share it. If you didn't receive an A+ on this project then your teacher is insane!
