  5. 1. I used to wear TUBE SOCK, when it was COOL! 2. armbands too 3. but not leg warmers.
  6. In the song "Anthem" on ATWS, at the very end Geddy does a slide on his bass and it's a real deep sound and it almost sounds like someones real deep voice. The water running and the birds(sounds like seagulls) in Natural Science is cool too.
  7. This movie gives me hope that someday I could be a great movie producer and makes lots of money. It's so stupid that's it's kind of funny, I don't laugh at the jokes, I laugh at how nerdy the people are. It's kind of like "I'm not laughing with you, I'm laughing AT you"
  8. Remember in the song "In the Mood", when they played the song live they changed the words to "Hey GROUPIE its a quarter to 8, I feel I'm in the mood, hey GROUPIE the hour is late I feel I've got to move" I WANT TO SEE ALL YOUR HANDS.....HIGH.....YEAHHHH Hey baby I say I Like your style........ See, they talked about their groupies in their songs so that answers your question. I heard Geddy tried to beat out Gene Simons and before he lost count he banged like 27,000 women, IN ONE NIGHT!!!!

The Siren 2. Ever Dream 3. The Kinslayer 4. Planet Hell 5. Wishmaster 6. Slaying the Dreamer 7. Nemo 8. Ghost Love Score 9. Wish I Had an Angel Only 9 songs? Are they long songs or are they a backup band? It's a metal festival, so they only had a limited amount of time to perform. The longest song on there is Ghost Love Score wich clocks in at 10:02 I just listened to "She Is My Sin" and I was going to say "Damn that singer sounds exactly like a chick" ..............But then I checked out the pictures. No wonder it sounds like a chick lol. This kind of sounds like "Christian Rock" or something.

  11. More than likely my next concert will be System of a Down again since I just saw them and it was one of the best concerts I've seen in the last 5-10 years. If not System, I will be seeing U2 at Madison Square Garden just to see a great band at a great venue. Other than that I don't really have any bands in mind that I would go see. But I do know the Foo Fighters are coming so I might take Donna to see them since she's been talking about them for the last couple months since the new CD came out.

QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Aug 26 2005, 10:28 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Aug 26 2005, 02:20 AM) Does anyone remember when they played it on the Presto tour? That was a TREAT!!! I remember all the crazy drums Neil did live, man, that was one of the coolest live Rush songs I've seen out of 20 Rush shows I've seen. It sounds like 2-3 drummers at once!!! Indy, remember on the Presto Tour that when they played this song, there was a "netting" or something like that draping the whole stage. The lighting effects looked pretty cool going through it. Hmmm now that you said that I think I do remember that. I saw that tour 3 times and everytime they played that song I would just watch Neil in total awe, if I remember correctly I believe that "Presto" tour was the only time they covered "Scars".... Since it was so awesome to watch live I always wondered why they only played it on one tour. Oh well, at least we got to see it live!!
  13. This is my NEW one, it's pretty bad ass. I'm getting some tight rims for it in the next couple weeks, it's gonna cruise pretty fast then. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8297/myhoopty7bf.jpg
  14. I love this cd. Hmmm just 1? Grand Designs is pretty cool.

I heard "Scars" the other day and the drums on that one is so awesome. Does anyone remember when they played it on the Presto tour? That was a TREAT!!! I remember all the crazy drums Neil did live, man, that was one of the coolest live Rush songs I've seen out of 20 Rush shows I've seen. It sounds like 2-3 drummers at once!!! I rarely hear anyone ever mention this song, maybe because it was on Presto and it seems a lot of people don't seem to like that one as much as others.
  16. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Aug 24 2005, 03:54 AM) Heh, already traded my two SOAD tickets for 2 GA NIN tickets. I decided to go for the Download show since there will be 6 bands, all of which I have never seen and a couple that I have been dying to see for a while now. It is kinda a bummer though, I really did wanna see Mars Volta again, and I have heard nothing but rave reviews for SOAD's live show... but in the end there were just too many good names on the other show to miss. Glad you had fun though I didn't know what to think of Mars Volta, I never heard any of their songs but it seemed like they played 20 minute songs, they went on and on and on. The bass player stood and faced the drummer the whole show, and the singer and guitar player stood on the sides of the stage facing each other the whole time. Very different. The guitar had heavy delay on it so it was going everywhere, every song sounded like Jimmy Page's bow solo or Alex crazy wha wha part in "By tor" the whole show!!! I did hear one song that sounded like they all were playing the same song at the same time and that was something like "never sleep alone" or something like that. But I have to say it wasn't really boring or anything, just different. I would have to hear more from them to decide if I liked them or not. I've seen NIN before, they are pretty good live too as far as putting on a show. Trents band played for David Bowie also that night. Pretty cool.
  17. QUOTE (Mr_Crunch @ Aug 24 2005, 03:39 PM) Just saw Motley Crue last night at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. Had the tix given to me for free (my brother in law couldn't go). As much as I don't mind them (I don't turn the radio off when they come on), I normally wouldn't have bothered going, and I definitely wouldn't have bought tix. But, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed myself. I think there was only 3, maybe 4 songs that I didn't know. Which surprised me in itself that I was that familiar with their stuff. Along with that, the heavy metal chicks in their short leather skirts and push up bras were out in full force - another bonus for us guys!! That's how I felt when I saw KISS for free a couple years ago. I would have never bought KISS tickets but since I got them free I went. I had a good time and was even singing some of their songs I heard a million times. I knew every song they played because they played all old stuff, and I've never been a Kiss fan. I had a way better time than sitting at home watching reruns of That 70's show or something like that.
  18. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Jul 28 2005, 01:29 PM) YES! Just scored 8th row, center section tickets to the Download Music Festival. There will be a number of bands there I have missed out on seeing this year including The Killers, Modest Mouse, and The Arcade Fire. All 3 of these bands I have really been wanting to see live for a while. The only problem is.... ITS THE EXACT SAME DAY AS THE SYSTEM OF A DOWN/MARS VOLTA SHOW!?! What am I to do, go to the floor of the SOAD/MV show where I can bounce around and get thrashed (plus in my books), or see a lot of bands probably just as close that I missed..... ohhhh... To help me decide, I'm gonna go see Nine Black Alps tonight at popscene. I just got back from the System concert, you wont want to miss that one. If you are going to be on the floor be careful down there, it was one of the roughest floors I've ever seen. The sound was excellent though, plus they put on a great show.
  19. Journey - Captured Led Zeppelin - The song remains the same Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous The Who - I cant remember the name of it, its cool though.
  20. QUOTE (softfilter @ Aug 20 2005, 04:58 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Aug 20 2005, 01:59 AM) I wasn't actually backstage to verify it but I never read stories in hit parade mag about it like you did a lot of other party bands lol. OK ,This has been nagging me since I mentioned the article I read many years ago in "Circus" or "Hit Parader" couldn't remember which one.It seems to me some folks here don't believe this was written. First off I think the main reason I still remember it was the first I heard anything like this concerning RUSH and I never heard anything more about a (groupie type fans.) after that. And I have boxes full of rock mags about RUSH. And now the most important fact ,I FOUND THE MAGAZINE. It's the April 1982 issue of HIT PARADER with Ozzy Osbourne on cover. The title of the article is called, RUSH BAND OF OUTSIDERS subtitled Canadian Rockers Find Room At The Top. It was written by Andy Secher . Now keep in mind this was 24 years ago? So I wasen't 100% exact word for word but I was damn close! I will now quote part of this article from 4/82 Hit Parader. Page 4 to 7 It was almost midnight as the last mega-decibels of Rush's second encore, Working Man faded into the smoke-filled air of the packed arena. 20,000 entusiastic fans rose to their feet as bassist Geddy Lee,drummer Neil Peart and guitarist Alex Lifeson laid down their instruments, gave a final wave and quickly headed for the relative serenity of their backstage dressing rooms. In a small cubicle crowed with guitar cases and amps,Lifeson was winding down from the band's two hour show when he was suddenly approached by an attractive young lady who began lavishing her ample affections upon the surprised guitarist. Reacting with a look of shock and pleasure,he managed to struggle to his feet and respond to her advances with a weak smile and a hearty handshake."Come on,Alex" said one of the group's road crew,"ya gotta give the fans what they want. " "Not tonight man" Lifeson replied with a grin, I'm just too damn tired." The rest of article Geddy comes in and sits down drinking a Pepsi and discusses the sorry shape of rock and roll right now (1982)QUOTE Geddy "Theres an awful lot of garbage out there" I still don't get it, maybe Alex was too tired every night, or maybe that was an excuse he used for not wanting to give the fans what they wanted, AKA banging a bunch of dirty skanks. That story is nothing like the wild stories of some party type bands that I've read. Again who knows, doesn't bother me either way as long as they rocked when I went to their shows.
  21. QUOTE (sullysue @ Aug 19 2005, 11:25 PM) QUOTE (Indica @ Aug 19 2005, 09:01 PM) LOL@THIS THREAD. ummm maybe they just don't kiss and tell. This is Rush we are talking about, not Motley Crue of the 80's who used to think it was cool to tell everyone about all the chicks they nailed every night. Maybe banging a different chick every night isn't something that Rush cared about, maybe so and they just didn't think the best thing to do was tell everyone about it. I think Rush is a band that likes their privacy, that's ok too, it's up to them ya know, what they eat for lunch or who they eat for dinner isn't anyones business really. I respect that. But then again, I played in several bands, nothing huge like rush of course but yeah, we had groupies, and some people are groupies for the love of the music, not because they want to sleep with the band. We had certain girls(and guys!) that came to every show, hung out with us on days we didn't have shows, and no one in the band ever nailed them, they were just there, they liked the music and that's why they were about. So a "groupie" or some slutty chicks who hangs around bands to get laid isn't nessesarily the same thing. They all are groupies I guess but are groupies for different reasons. To be honest, I liked the groupies that were there cuz they loved the music, at times they were some great help to the band as far as helping us do some things to keep the band going and maybe help load equipment etc. I know bands like Rush have paid roadies to do that stuff but they still have tons of people who want to hang out just to be near the band they love. OK, Indy. And, I understand what you're saying. I suppose, according to what you've said, that I would be a "groupie." But, I find fault in your explanation. I do appreciate Rush for their music, and I would love to just hang around for the sake of hearing them play. (And, maybe glare at them to the point of making them uncomfortable.) But, wouldn't that classify me as a "fan?" The difference lies in the motivation. If I were to make a non-sexual effort to make my way past the security and the roadies for the opportunity to just hang out with them, that would make me a fan. On the other hand, if I were to make an effort to "blow" the security guard, the guy who just happens to be standing next to the security guard, whichever roadie "promises, I swear to God." to get me to the "promotions" guy, as the_masked_drummer says, to "blow" the guys in Rush, wouldn't that make me a "groupie?" There is a difference. I really don't know to be honest. Maybe I'm wrong about what a groupie is, I thought a groupie could be someone whos just into the band and follows them around all the time. I didn't realize ya had to blow people to become a groupie, maybe to some people it does mean that. Maybe I just don't understand the meaning of the word. I'm not sure what the original poster meant when they asked about did they have groupies, I guess they could have asked "did rush have fans that gave them blowjobs just to get backstage"...... Is that what they meant? Beats me. I guess the difference to be between a fan and a groupie is, I am a fan of say, System of a Down, I listen to their music, I think they rock, I'm fanatical about sitting and listening to their cd, I'm a S.O.A.D fan. But I wouldn't want to follow them around, put up posters, hang out backstage, wear their shirts all the time, offer to help the band for free just to get to meet them. Etc etc.... That's a groupie, someone who follows them around wanting to hang out with them and stuff. Beats me I'm not saying I'm right, but it's just what I always thought the word meant. Either way, I don't see rush as a band that hung out with different fans every night and got crazy and wild like bands like Motley Crue or Poison or some party band like that. I wasn't actually backstage to verify it but I never read stories in hit parade mag about it like you did a lot of other party bands lol. I suck at explaining things I think.
  22. When I was between like 18 and 28-29 yrs old you wouldn't catch me ever staying home on a Friday night, I would feel like such a loser just for not going out (for some reason) But once I got around 30, I wore tired of the bar scene, and Friday nights were just another day, I was free to do things on any night if I wanted to so the weekends wasn't that big of a deal. I would rather do things like stay at home and watch baseball or football, play on the computer, go fishing, etc. It doesn't really matter that nuch to me anymore like it used to. Sure I still like doing things like concerts, etc but you know what I mean I'm sure. Staying at home is a lot cheaper than going out every weekend blowing tons of money. That's another reason to just screw around at home.
