  3. I only like 4-5 recent sitcoms at the most....Lets see....I can watch these shows........

    Will and Grace

    That 70's show

    Malcom in the middle

    Friends

    Seinfeld

    Everyone loves Ramen

Hmmm, that's about it for me at this point. But hey what do I know, I still think Happy Days is probably the best show ever. wacko.gif

Sometimes I think I am stuck in the 70s...but hey, the music was awesome then and we had shows like Gilligans Island, Happy Days, WKRP in Cincinnati, Mash, Hogans Heros, Green acres, Sanford & Son, Three's Company......Man, todays shows just don't compare In my opinion. The Music doesn't either, even with all the new updated recording equipment.

I seem to remember Friends being a popular show. I guess none of them were Rush fans. confused13.gif

I like Friends and I'm a Rush fan. Put Friends up against almost any other show and I would vote for it more than likely.

A closer match would be Friends against That 70's show.

You have to remember though, Seinfeld was voted the Best sitcom ever by many many people. I understand that Friends is really popular also but I haven't heard to many say "best ever" or anything like that. Very good show though. yes.gif

it was that i just didn't care about any of the characters.  none of them were particularly extremely likeable people and i just didn't care what happened to them.  eventually as i grew to appreciate the show more, this became less important, but ultimately i still feel the characters are somehow impersonal.  this is very different from a show like friends where i cared deeply about the characters and all of them were likeable.

That was the entire point of the series... to have main characters with little or no redeeming values. Taken to it's logical conclusion would lead you to Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO.

I don't have HBO but I have to check that show out sometimes, I heard so many good things about it. Is Larry David involved with this show also? I think he is half the brains of Seinfeld as far as the writing.

I hope this comes out on DVD soon, then I will be able to see it. What is weird, I didn't watch Seinfeld until they quit taping the shows. In the 90's all I did was work and play music and never watched TV but now I watch a lot of TV so since like 1999 I have watched every episode of Seinfeld 50 times over. Most people was burned out on it by then but I was just getting started.

Just think, if you never heard any Rush songs and someone just turned you on to Rush today and you got to listen to their songs for the first time. I'm sure I would love the songs but a lot times when I listen to Rush it takes me back to my younger years and it gives me this great feeling as I remember the days when Rush was just about all I listened to for a while. It's kind of like that. yes.gif

I envy the people who never seen Seinfeld and they can go buy the DVD's and watch them for the first time. That would be sooo cool!!!! I hope when the DVD's come out for "curb" I will enjoy it as much as everyone is now. It's nice having something like this in your back pocket because frankly, there's not that many funny shows on TV anymore.

Seasons 1 through 4 of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' are available on DVD. Here's the link at Barnes & Noble: 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

    Thanks, I'm there!!!! trink39.gif

The show is Larry David.. he created it, wrote it and stars in it. You'd love it!

Sweet!!! Something to look forward to.

  8. I'm not a big fan of relationship humor. Jennifer Anniston is freaking SWEET though, I liked when they made it extra cold on the set. yes.gif

    Seinfeld, Hands down. 1022.gif

I do like Friends though, it's funny sometimes but not "hillarious" if you know what I mean.

  9. QUOTE (thestand @ Jan 1 2006, 05:02 PM)
I went with Mad TV, but that's from a "right now" standpoint. If it was in the late 90's, when Ferrell was still on, or earlier with Sandler, Spade, Farley, and so on, I'd go with SNL, but SNL really hasn't had a strong cast in awhile. I think Tina Fey is one of the best writer's they've had, though.

I agree, SNL used to be a lot better. One thing I like about Mad TV is the videos that they redo which make fun of bands, it's not live or anything but still very funny. They had one with creed and a few other bands that sound like Creed and Eddie Vedder and The Calling, they were making fun of how all the singers tried to sound like one another and they ended up fighting because they all claimed that the other guys sounded like them. Very funny video.

    Tina Fey yes.gif She's VERY funny. 1022.gif

Did you see the skit where Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were acting like the Bush twins and they had their own "twin language" that they made up. Hillarious skit.

Here's the transcript Tina Fey skit

Never thought Mad TV was funny and SNL isn't funny anymore. no.gif

Damn son!!!! You hate Seinfeld and you don't think Mad Tv or SNL is funny? Laughter is the best medicine!!! Please tell me you laugh sometimes!!! It's ok to laugh!!! You are depressing me son!!!! sad.gif

NEW ENGLAND @ DENVER would be awesome! let's go NE!

we now go back to our regularly scheduled lurve shack between INDICA & PITTSBURGH

Now you're talking, that's one lurve shack that's not lame ahahahaha.

Indica & Steelers lurve shack. ahahahaha, Good one Daveyt. trink39.gif

Our 30 year anniversary party will be great!!! Now that's a lasting love, not a fly by night love. trink39.gif

  12. The Steelers have a long road if they want to make it to the super bowl. They will have to win 3 straight on the road just to get there!!!!

But here is a stat that some of you may not be aware of..........

Earlier in the season, the Steelers tied an all time NFL record with 11 road wins in a row. To me that is a good sign and it's a sign of a great team. If anyone can go to the playoffs and win 3 straight on the road it is the Steelers.

MAKE IT HAPPEN BABY!!!! HELLZ YA!!!!!!!!

  13. Just seeing if this jives with the Northern Hemisphere standard.

2 good shows but what I usually do is watch the first 1/2 hour of Mad TV then switch it over to SNL when it starts. If SNL is a repeat and I've seen it then I switch it back to Mad TV for the last 1/2 hour then back to SNL. laugh.gif

steeler fans ,are you happy new england lost ? i would be if i were you.ill bet you are.well any way nothing personal but im rooting for the bengals.if you do win however ,ill see you in 2 weeks. congratulations on your playoff birth.

No, I'm not glad they lost. I wanted to take them out first. If the Steelers win against the Bengals then they will be going to Indianapolis the next week and Denver will play the winner between New England and Jacksonville.

Hey, is that Vette still running like a charm? Sometimes it helps to just take a long ride out in the country and it gives ya time to think and you will realize that life is good!!! Good luck bro, we all have our bad days, I'm sure it will pass soon. Life is too short to stay down for very long. 1022.gif

Look at the bright side though, our Steelers made it to the playoffs yet one more time!!! 1022.gif

It time for my much anticipated, ever so accurate (usually), weekly prediction.

I think it will be closer than you might expect.

    Steelers 34
    Lions 21

    Final score

    Steelers 35

    Lions 21

Accurate is RIGHT!!! I hate to blow my own horn but I've been nailing predictions within a couple points for the last 2 years in a row, week after week. I guess 30 years of watching the same team game after game and keeping up on the injury reports and all that pays off. If someone would have took my predictions and used them to bet with a bookie they would have made a boatload of money. yes.gif

However, I usually don't bet on or against my team, it's what I call a "kiss of death". But others can take advantage of my great football knowledge and cash in on it. yes.gif

  17. Yes!!!!!!!!! 4 wins down and 4 wins to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

All we need is 4 more wins baby and then we will have a super bowl ring for the thumb!!!!!!!!!

Lets roll baby!!! 4 more wins!!! 4 more wins!!!! 4 more wins!!!!!

    Oh it's GREAT being a Steeler fan!~!!!!!!!!

    YA BABY YA!~!!!!!!!

I think the Bengals want to lose just so they don't have to play us in the first round. cat.gif

The Bengals will be going into the playoffs on a 3 game losing streak, I don't see how that is a good thing. I can't believe they are laying down today against KC.

From the looks of it, unless something changes drasticly after half time... The round one matchups will be

    Pittsburgh @ New England

    Jacksonville @ Cincinnati

Wait wait, Miami is beating NE, so The Steelers might end up playing the Bengals after all. If so, I might end up being at that game next week since my brother is a Bengals fan, ahahah that would be great going to that game with a bengals fan. Might be a long trip home for one of us. rofl3.gif
