Though Steve Martin has brought many great moments to SNL, I don't think he can save the show this time around. The show is mired in slump right now. Weekend Update will remain good as long as Tina Fey is in charge of it, but otherwise, it sucks right now.

I still watch SNL even through it's slumps. I guess it's just a habit of mine. I've been watching since the Coneheads and Mr. Bill.

  3. Yeah sorry tick. I know how it feels to get so close to the bowl and your team losing it. The steelers did it quite a few times, people called them chokers and that was sucky. At least you know the broncos rebuilt their team very quickly after those 2 Super Bowls with Elway. They have a great team already and will be in the playoffs for the next few years I bet. Us Steelers fans have been waiting 10 years since we been in a bowl and 26 years since a super bowl win. They were due for a bowl, Roonie has a system there in Pittsburgh, Cowher has been coaching for like 15 years so he needs a super bowl win and now he has his chance.

I know it sucks but at least the Broncos were in the AFC Championship game and that is awesome just being there. Oh well, it's been fun going through the playoffs and bulshittin with ya about football. Then we end up with the best 2 teams in the AFC, can't get much better than that!!!!

Bake the rolls, that always makes ya feel better!!~!!!!

Words don't even describe how excited I am right now. Closest description I can think of would be:

    f***ing ECSTATIC!!!!

If they win the bowl I will be headed to Pittsburgh for the welcoming home parade!!!!! If all goes well I will see you there in 15 days baby!!!!!!!!!! Whoooohooooo.

I ended up going to a BW3 hot wings bar and there was 200-300 steelers fans there!!! It was PACKED!!! I think I high fived and hugged every steelers fan in the bar after the game. I haven't seen a crowd so estatic in a LONG time. Well, since I seen the Championship game in Pittsburgh in 95 the last time they went to the super bowl. Steeler fans are sooo damn loyal, when they win a game like this the atmosphere is unreal.

I got a feeling, Pittsburgh's going to the super bowl. yes.gif

I got a feeling, Pittsburgh's going to the super bowl. yes.gif

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!

See since I was in Dayton there were a lot of Bengals fans there rooting against the Steelers. My sister had a terrible towel on the table and this chick in a bengals shirt walked by and grabbed my sisters terrible towel and wiped her hands on it. So at the end of the game I brought the towel over to her and acted like I was wiping my tears and asked if she wanted to borrow it aHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I usually don't rub peoples faces in it but she was asking for it. When the Steelers got hurt and that little ambulance truck came on the field to cart him off she jumped up and started cheering when it was all quiet in the bar. She got boooed, no classs, so I didn't feel bad at all f***ing with her at the end of the game. I guess shes still mad Pitt hurt the bengals Quarterback but they didn't do it on purpose. Screw it ahahaha.

OK time for my weekly Steeler prediction.

I think the Steelers are on a roll. The broncos haven't lost a home game all year, but then again, they haven't had to play the Steelers. It's time for their first home loss all year.

    Steelers 28
    Broncos 17

wow, not a bad prediction, as usual I underestimated the Steelers and got the other teams score exact!

    Steelers 34

    Broncos 17

Nevertheless, THE STEELERS ARE GOING TO THE BOWL!!!!

    I AM ONE HAPPY MOFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry tick, at least the broncos came in 2nd place in the AFC. Not too bad, I told ya we were going, you wouldn't listen!!!!!

    1 more win baby!!!!!

I've been counting down since they needed 8 wins, and they only need 1 more to go!!!!!!!

Detroit, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I think I'm gonna be there!!!!!!

  6. I'll see everyone late Sunday night, or Monday. Hopefully after a Steeler win. If somehow the Steelers do lose I will be back to read all the posts of everyone rubbing my face in it. Oh well, I wanted a super bowl but either way they gave me an exciting year. After their 3 loses in late November I didn't even think they were going to the playoffs. But they won 6 straight since then. Which made me very happy. That's why I love the Steelers, they seem to always provide me with some exciting football. I just hope this is their year.

    Black and Gold for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Steelers!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fing.gif LIKE I SAID, A BAD CALL.........the 'REVERSAL' was a bad call......vandalizing someone's home, FOR ANY REASON, is just plain wrong and stupid IMO......The 'call' didnt even play a part in the outcome....The better team that day still won......no harm done confused13.gif

I agree. Just because he made a dumbass reversal, no one deserves to have this donne to them. fing.gif

After alls said and done, it's just a game.

True, throwing rocks if for Kids. Very stupid, someone could have gotten hurt also. If anyone should have punished him it should have been the league, maybe a suspension or blocked him from future playoffs games or something. Although the Steelers still kicked their ass despite the refs allowing the colts to score 7 points that shouldn't have been scored, it still could have made a difference.

The league only lets the best refs do the playoff games every year. It's possible that it could hurt his chances in the future. yes.gif

    Go steelers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jerry: I can't give details.

    George: No details?

Jerry: I'm not in the mood.

George: You ask me to have lunch, tell me you slept with Elaine, and then say you're not in the mood for details. Now you listen to me. I want details and I want them right now. I don't have a job, I have no place to go. You're not in the mood? Well you get in the mood!

Anybody else hear about the ref who made the bad call on Palumalu getting rocks thrown at his house or something like that?

    EDIT: Here it is

NFL official's home vandalized after Steelers call
    ESPN.com news services

Someone threw a rock through Pete Morelli's window in Stockton, Calif., on Sunday after the NFL official's crew made a controversial call in the Steelers' win at Indianapolis.

During the game, an apparent interception by Troy Polamalu was reversed on replay, allowing the Colts to score their second touchdown during a frantic but failed rally in the fourth quarter. The NFL issued a statement Monday that the interception should have stood.

"It's kinda suspicious because of its close proximity to the game, but he doesn't know if it was related to his duties as a referee, his job as a high school principal or if it was a random act of mischief," Stockton police Lt. Thomas Wells told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Wednesday.

Morelli, a high school principal, and his wife were upstairs getting ready for bed when they heard a loud crash and ran downstairs where they found broken glass and a rock, Wells told the paper.

Joey Porter, a Pro Bowl selection and one of the Steelers' co-captains, criticized the crew repeatedly during a series of postgame interviews following a 21-18 win in the AFC divisional round. Among other comments, Porter said, "The whole world wanted Indy to win so bad, they were going to do whatever they had to do."

NFL spokesman Steve Alic said there would be no fine for the remarks.

During his news conference Tuesday, Steelers coach Bill Cowher called Porter's remarks "ridiculous" and said, "Our officials are doing the very best that they can do."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I guess people are taking the law in their own hands. If the league isn't punishing him on his horrible call then I guess the fans feel they have to. laugh.gif

Porter won't be fined for cheating remarks

PITTSBURGH (Jan. 18, 2006) -- Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter won't be fined by the NFL for criticizing officials after the Steelers beat Indianapolis.

NFL coaches are subject to fines for criticizing officials, but players usually aren't fined.

Porter, a Pro Bowl selection and one of the Steelers' co-captains, criticized referee Pete Morelli's crew repeatedly during a series of postgame interviews following a 21-18 win in the AFC divisional round. Among other comments, Porter said, "The whole world wanted Indy to win so bad, they were going to do whatever they had to do."

NFL spokesman Steve Alic said there would be no fine for the remarks. Alic didn't elaborate.

Porter was most angered when an apparent interception by Troy Polamalu was reversed on replay, allowing the Colts to score their second touchdown during a frantic but failed rally in the fourth quarter. The NFL issued a statement Monday that the interception should have stood.

During his news conference, Cowher called Porter's remarks "ridiculous" and said, "Our officials are doing the very best that they can do."

  14. Hmmmm, I was about to post my prediction. But when I started to type, I didn't have the vibe I like to have when I make my prediction. I would hate to make a prediction and it be off by more than 10 points so I will wait until the vibe comes back to me, then I will post before it goes away. Usuallly it's on a Thursday or Friday but it has been as late as Saturday before it came.
  15. I like the music to the song. But the lyrics are kind of corney but that's ok, I don't listen to lyrics in a lot of songs anyway. I know some other people that really love this song so know that you aren't alone when you say you like it a lot.

Compared to most other Rush songs this is one of my least favorites but it doesn't matter what I think, as long as you like it, that's all that matters. new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

what do you guys think about that one quote from the steelers that said the refs tried to rig the game? anyone catch this?

Yeh, that was Joey Porter. He's seen a lot of bad calls I'm sure and he never said anything about them. But I guess his emotions got the best of him. It sure looked like blatant cheating to many others too. He knew he was going to get fined but as he said, he didn't care, he just wanted to spill his guts. I kind of wish he never said anything but he's his own person, with his own opinions. Many others thought the same thing but didn't have the balls to speak up. His balls are made of steel. laugh.gif

well , i know myself ,that call pissed me off. if i was a player i prolly would have said it.he was emotional, and lets face it that call was shit.

I'm wondering how much the NFL is going to fine him for that. He was fined $10,000 earlier this year for fighting with that Stains player.

What made me laugh was when she would hold her finger to her ear to get dome vocal feedback ... when she was singing a capella!!!! too funny.

LMFAO I didn't notice that until you said that. I bet she saw that in an Ashley Simpson video so she thought she should try it too look professional.

This show is pretty entertaining. I heard maybe 3 good voices all night. laugh.gif

I can't believe that over turn call on the interception.  That was the WORST over turn that I have ever seen in replay.  I've said this before, GET RID OF INSTANT REPLAY.......

Getting rid of the ref who made that ridiculous decision would be a better idea.

This is not the first f*ck in replay. They only get it right half of the time. I never liked instant replay because it interrupts the flow of the game. There were SEVERAL botched calls in that game.

There are even more botched calls without replay.

That is why it is a good idea to have it.

Anyway, don't mean to turn this thread into a totally off topic discussion of instant replay.

I agree, 90% of the time the replay helps make the correct call. They can watch the play in slow motion and get the right call and games won't be decided by a bad call more times than not. I am a fan of instant replays but only if they get it right.

But, this time wasn't the norm, the ref watched the play and it was clear to everyone else watching but him. He basically lied and said Troy dropped the ball before his knee hit the ground, but he rolled completly over, started to get up, he was making a football move and kicked the ball out with his knee AFTER he was getting back up. But it's over now, the best team won and it's time to go on to Denver.

I love this article from ESPN.com

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "I can't be positive, but when referee Pete Morelli went under the instant replay hood to look at Troy Polamalu's interception, I bet Paul Tagliabue came on the screen and said: "Yeah, I'm going to need you to overturn this and call it an incompletion, mmkay? See, we really want the Colts to make the Super Bowl, mmkay? So just say he never had possession. Try an explanation with the term 'football move' in it, mmkay? Nobody knows what that means."
