When he stands, he sits. Its also a dance move. I suspect he masters it without movement. while that doesn't really help me understand anything, i expect i would regret asking for a real explanation

this is so damn sad. the larry sanders show was one of the funniest and most onpoint satires ever made. he will be missed -

i thought that was quite good actually, a worthy contribution to my most successful thread ever!

Well, that's one opinion. But my comments reflect the views of many in the organization and they weren't afraid to say it. Right up until the last tour started, Geddy, Alex, and everyone else held out hope that Neil would change his mind once he got out on the road, and agree to extending the tour and including an overseas leg. Imagine their disappointment when Neil flat out said NO. Mind you, this was LONG before Neil told them that it would be his last tour - which didn't happen until AFTER the tour. I'm not saying/disclosing anything that hasn't been said/disclosed already by those on the inside. These guys were hurt and tired of tiptoeing around the facts. Sorry if that bursts the little Rush bubble you felt safe in, but this was not a fairy tale ending, by any means. Just so we're clear, the gripe was NOT about Neil retiring - he deserves that. It was simply about the selfish way he handled it. Sorry but that's BS. Anyone that has read Neil's books knows how he has felt about touring for several decades. It's nothing new and in that sense it's been coming for a lot of years. He didn't even have to do the shows that he did for R40 but at least we got that. Shame on them for assuming when they just should have asked. Doesn't sound like their communication is very good. Huh? Didn't ask?? He was asked MANY times to just clarify. BUT you, like many other, are missing the point. Once again: No one was upset about him retiring. It was the way he left everyone up in the air and didn't officially announce it until AFTER the tour, that has people a little miffed. Officially announce? you've got a point, he never did officially announce it!

didn't we do this already?

If you don't use caps then Neil won't respond to your fan mail. SO I SHOULD WRITE LIKE THIS?
-
i don't use caps because i'm too lazy. i've been thinking about starting though because maybe it would make me look more intelligent?

he's a pretty good drummer and wrote some decent lyrics It's like a bloody car wreck. We attempt to avert our eyes but can't stop ourselves from looking. My threads suck. Lucky to get 3 replies. Of late, it seems like anyone could just title a thread "Neil" and be guaranteed 5 pages. i just wanted to see if this is true!

i agree completely!

That's quite the place. I'd love to live in something like that. can you imagine the heating bill? EDIT oh snap!

We are strangers to each other, each one's life a novel no one else has read. That's where opinions originate. I dont agree with this at all. Another case of projecting your feelings into him. no, it's a case of me giving my opinion of the way he presents himself in his writings. Yes. Your subjective opinion. I think that's the definition of "opinion", DD Yes a pretty narrow version of it sure. If he feels that way I'm not in a position to stop him. I Just people to be honest with themselves. what's a broader version of opinion? and who is being dishonest with themselves? i find your statements to be puzzling. Fair enough. I am just challenging peoples opinions here. If thats the way you feel about him who am I to change your mind. Just lets make sure the opinon is based on factual evidence and not just ad hominem attacks. i said that neil presents an unlikeable person in his books and his blog. that is my opinion of neil based on what he writes about himself in his own words. i'm not sure if you consider that factual evidence or not. Presenting an unlikeable person is a subjective opinion. Its is an opinion held by you but not necessarily everyone. The key word here is "presenting". It is not a fact, it is your belief that he presents an unlikeable person. It IS a fact that you hold this opinion of him. I am all for evidence-based opinions but I think Anthemic's point is that not liking Neil's writings is just as evidence-based as liking them. They're all subjective opinions. this is exactly my point, thank you. based on what Neil has written about himself in his own words i think he is a dick. didital dad has read the same words and thinks neil is a great guy. both of these opinions are based on exactly the same set of evidence (so to say). they are equally valid and neither is more or less factual than the other.
