What are Neil, Geddy, and Alex doing right now?
Phantom replied to Tombstone Mountain's topic in R40 Tour Forum
Geds focused on the Jays right now... and the division series. I'm sure he'll be in his usual seat for Sunday's game. -
I'm really looking forward to this film. It's always exciting to me to experience new content... Whether it's in the form of an album, tour, book or in this case, a documentary. I can't wait.

What Heavy Metal RUSH Song Are You Currently Listening To? v.1
Phantom replied to JohnRogers's topic in Rush
Double Agent (if that counts) -
I have a great documentary of the making of this record.. Ged and Anne Murray were the only artists to nail their parts on the first take

Nice honor for the guys..well deserved. I certainly don't expect Neil to attend. I know this is one of the reasons why some people don't care for Neil, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he doesn't care about his/their fans. He's on record saying that he and the guys always put max effort into their shows and so that fans would never see them mail it in. I've always respected that, and the fact that they don't leave the venue after sound check..to ensure that they're never late for a show.

I absolutely LOVE this track. The album itself was somewhat of a return to a heavier sound that I prefer....and this song in particular stands out. Bass, guitar, drums and lyrics are all stellar. Well done guys!!!

I don't own the album and only know of Start Today, which in my opinion, is a terrific track...

You and I are on the same page Dis...I wouldn't permanemtly carve anything into my body...to me, its not a canvas.... But I don't judge those who like to do so.

Personally, I will never get a tattoo ...but that's just me.

Passing the Rush torch to your kids--Tell your story
Phantom replied to Tombstone Mountain's topic in Rush
My step kids aren't fans, nor would I expect them to be.. With that said, they LOVE Tom Sawyer, YYZ and Limelight and my oldest comments.. "Not all people are huge fans of theirs but I challenge anyone to find more talented musicians". :) -
Blue Jay. There are no words I can offer to ease the pain of a loss so devastating but please know that my bones sudder to learn of such tragedies. I believe that if nothing else, sharing in someone's grief makes their burden just a little bit lighter. You sound like an incredible person and I'm moved by your kindness and honored to share a love of Rush with you.

If the original question stands...sound quality? I'd say Moving Pictures in a photo finish over Permanent Waves
-
For sound quality? Moving Pics

Being a musician puts them in the spotlight and subjects them to praise and ridicule. Neither one appeals to Neil and though I'm sure he doesn't frequent forums like this, if he did, this would only serve to feed his desire to keep distance from the fan base.. (In my opinion)

It's interesting to stop for a moment and be mindful that each of us has a tipping point. All of us are likely to reach a point in our lives where we either don't want or need to do something that we've done all our lives, or we can't do it as well as we once did. The fact that Rush are either nearing, right at, or past that point is monumental to me... As they've been a huge influence on me for most of my life

I suppose anything is possible but I'd file the unplugged idea in the "least likely" pile.
-
I can't rank a Rush album that has Chemistry ahead of one that doesn't. For me, Permanent Waves and it's not close.
-
Under normal circumstances, I'd have a strong feeling one way or the other about what I think might happen. In this case, I'm on the fence. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they intend to record in studio. I also wouldn't be surprised if someone representing the band said they won't record or play live gigs again.
-
Really PJ? I enjoyed it. What about it didn't you like?
-
Neil himself has said that in order for a band to consider itself a band, they really should play live..or something to that effect. I suppose that's another strike against the likelihood of a future.
-
That's a great point rocket... I could see Neil hesitating to even think about recording new material for fear of what might be asked of him after recording is done
-
Having done Muse, Peter Gabriel and Tool, Bottrill would be a fine choice...assuming they record a new album... Which brings me back to my original question... Is there a way to find out the status of their recording agreement?
