  1. Love it, best song on Snakes & Arrows imo. Hope if they do play live again they choose to bring it back!
  2. Out of the tours since Vapor Trails, I'd rank them in this order setlist-wise: 6. Time Machine Tour - Overall strong 2nd set with whole of Moving Pictures but slightly lacklustre 1st set due to the song choices from Stick It Out to Faithless. Also felt Far Cry wasn't a great choice for main set closer and that the silly intros detracted from the encores. 5. R30 Tour - Nice to see such a wide variety of songs from different eras but I feel the setlist recycled too much from the Vapor Trails tour and none of the songs brought back from before were particularly surprising, with the exception of Between the Wheels. The show also had too many cover songs, making for a disappointing encore. 4. Snakes & Arrows Tour - Overall, I like the setlists from this tour a lot as they had some interesting choices bringing back a lot of quite rare material. I'd say maybe the album showcase in the 2nd set dragged a bit with a lot of slower songs in a row. Also for me, the end of the main 2nd second set doesn't quite climax as much as some of the others. 3. R40 Tour - I think the 1st sets were generally a bit weak song choice-wise on this tour - too predictable for me. But that was more than made up for by the show's killer 2nd half which delivers on every level! Also, the whole chronologically backwards element to the show I thought was very cool and something I think other bands should have a go at. 2. Clockwork Angels Tour - Really love this setlist. Loads of great 80s songs brought out of the vault that contrast very nicely with the heaviness of the Clockwork Angels material. My only criticism is that maybe there were better opening song choices than Subdivisions, which I think lacks the punch slightly. Swap Subdivisions and The Big Money round and it would be perfect for me. 1. Vapor Trails Tour - Don't think I can fault this one! It flows flawlessly, has a great range of songs from different eras and just feels really cohesive, like it was thought through really thoroughly. Great stuff all round.
  3. Which he does at 0:25, 1:21, 2:24, 3:02 and 3:52. Are we talking the same song?...
  4. Agree, I think Ged is sounding very good! Looks like with this video release, a lot more care is being taken on the production side of things than the last two which were both rough around the edges at times (e.g. sub-par video editing/ image quality) . Only thing is I wish the snare and toms (latter in particular) were higher in the mix. Check out the fill at 1:15 - the toms are almost inaudible! As someone who's involved in mixing an album at the moment, I find bizarre that things like that slip through the net at this level. Though apart from that, I think it's sounding great!
  5. I really like Wish Them Well and always have. Definitely some of the strongest lyrics on Clockwork Angels for me. Superconductor... I'm not so keen on.
  6. How strong Neil's right foot is!! Often players like John Bonham and Nicko McBrain get singled out as being fast single bass drum players and Neil never seems to get a mention in that department. But I think he's wayy up there too. For years I never realised how closely the bass drum followed the bell pattern in the infamous "Peart ride bell groove"(such as 1:15 in YYZ). Really hard stuff, especially to pull off live! Gave me a whole new respect for the guy. Check out the isolated drums for YYZ to see what I mean (bare in mind those fast bass drum patterns are all played with just one foot!). https://www.youtube....h?v=Giy32rHqX8M
  7. Yikes that cover sucks! Don't get me wrong, I've seen the clips from the concert video and I'm sure it's going to be a great album/ DVD. But man that cover is just awful, maybe their worst yet. Looks like an advert for a Rush cover band playing at a holiday resort!
  8. Anagram (for Mongo) is the winner for me.
  9. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I'm afraid that simply isn't true. Compare 1:25 on this vid to 4:20 on this vid https://www.youtube....h?v=emoWMrYp_ps Fixing happens all the time on live releases, particularly with the vocals. The only recent one that didn't have that treatment was Clockwork Angels Tour and as a result it has some (imo) sup-par moments that should have been fixed in post-production. We'd have (for the most part) been none the wiser and it would have made it a more listenable and polished album.
  10. Power Windows: Marathon Hold Your Fire: Prime Mover Presto: Scars Test For Echo: Resist The most disappointing thing about this tour for me is nothing from HYF. There are so many great songs on that album that really deserved a live outing: Open Secrets, Second Nature, Prime Mover, Lock and Key, Mission and Turn The Page. Obviously I know there wouldn't have been time for all of them but certainly 1 or 2 would have been nice!
  11. 1. The Anarchist 2. The Wreckers 3. Headlong Flight/ Drumbastica 4. Far Cry 5. The Main Monkey Business 6. How It Is 7. Animate 8. Roll The Bones 9. The Big Money 10. Losing It Intermission 11. Tom Sawyer 12. The Camera Eye 13. The Spirit of Radio 14. Jacob's Ladder 15. Cygnus X-1 Book Two: Hemispheres - Prelude 16. Cygnus X-1 Book One: The Voyage/ Drum Solo 17. Closer To The Heart 18. Xanadu 19. 2112 (Overture/The Temples of Syrinx/Presentation/Grand Finale) Encore: 20. Lakeside Park/ Anthem 21. What You're Doing/ Working Man/ Garden Road
  12. Thought I'd see if I could adjust my setlist to accommodate those rules. I sort of wish Feedback didn't count as an album but apparently it does so... 1. Headlong Flight (Clockwork Angels) 2. Armor and Sword (Snakes & Arrows) 3. The Seeker (Feedback) 4. Ghost Rider (Vapor Trails) 5. Resist (Test For Echo) 6. Cut To The Chase (Counterparts) 7. Ghost Of A Chance (Roll The Bones) 8. Scars (Presto) 9. Prime Mover (Hold Your Fire) 10. Open Secrets (Wildcard 1) 11. Marathon (Power Windows) Intermission 12. Kid Gloves (Grace Under Pressure) 13. The Weapon (Signals) 14. YYZ/ Drum Solo (Moving Pictures) 15. Tom Sawyer (Wildcard 2) 16. Jacob's Ladder (Permanent Waves) 17. The Spirit Of Radio (Wildcard 3) 18. La Villa Strangiato (Hemispheres) 19. A Farewell To Kings (A Farewell To Kings) 20. Xanadu (Wildcard 4) 21. 2112 (Overture/ Temples Of Syrinx/ Grand Finale) (2112) Encores: 22. Bastille Day (Caress Of Steel) 23. Anthem (Fly By Night) 24. Working Man (Rush) It's good but I think I still prefer my original.
  13. I hope it's Prime Mover. Or Open Secrets. Or pretty much anything from Hold Your Fire tbh!
  14. No Cygnus X-1, no Hemispheres, no thank you. Yeah it was a tough call with those songs. I don't dislike them by any means and I think they work great live. I would just take La Villa over Hemispheres Prelude and A Farewell to Kings over Cygnus X-1 by a hair.
  15. So now we know the theme of the tour is the reverse timeline of the band, what would your ultimate reverse chronological setlist be? Here's mine: 1. Headlong Flight 2. Armor and Sword 3. Ghost Rider 4. Resist 5. Cut To The Chase 6. Scars 7. Prime Mover 8. Open Secrets 9. Marathon 10. Kid Gloves 11. The Weapon 12. YYZ/ Drum Solo Intermission 13. Tom Sawyer 14. Limelight 15. Natural Science 16. The Spirit Of Radio 17. Jacob's Ladder 18. La Villa Strangiato 19. A Farewell To Kings 20. Xanadu 21. Closer To The Heart 22. 2112 (Overture/ Temples Of Syrinx/ Grand Finale) Encores: 23. Bastille Day 24. Anthem 25. Working Man Since Presto was missed out on the R30 tour, I figured it was Roll The Bones' turn this time. For me, this is as good as a backwards Rush setlist can get!
  16. Clockwork Angels I would say - to me it's a very dark and heavy album both sonically and lyrically. BU2B2 is possibly Rush's all time darkest moment.
  17. Face Up, Anagram, Rivendell and Bravest Face all usually get a skipping from me.
  18. To all hating on Katy Perry, just check out 5:06 in this video for the shock of your life...
  19. I really like it too, never understood the hate. Really nice melodic song I think.
  20. Seriously...you have heard Roll the Bones? That cat can groooove. ;-) The song you mean? It's not bad, I can see he's trying to go for a more funk rock approach. But there are other drummers who do that kind of thing way better such as Chad Smith and Will Calhoun. I'm not saying for a minute I think Neil's a bad drummer - he's anything but that! It's just that kind of straight ahead grooving isn't really his thing, although I do think he is a lot better at it now than he used to be.
  21. Tico Torres is an excellent drummer and great at what he does imo. Yes, he doesn't have the flare and technique that Neil has but then I don't think Neil can hold down fat drum grooves like Tico can either. I hate it when this stuff is seen as a competition, especially when it's between individual musicians. Just ridiculous.
  22. Ghost of a Chance is the only one from this album I'd be fussed about them playing on this tour.
