  1. I kinda dug the white/pink hued Ludwig kit...his last double kick kit as a matter of fact.Thought they sounded great and looked good too.
  2. I'm pretty sure Alex at one point stated in an interview that it says "outta my road"....
  3. As much as I agree with Neil owing us nothing more then the music he plays I also think when you are an entertainer which is what he is I do find it a bit of a contradiction that he loves the flashy solo spotlight, shiny gold plated hardware and entertaining an audience but wants to have nothing to do with them...thats just my opinion.
  4. -facing whatever comes, I wait breathlessly, peacefully, surrendering all i do not know to the sky above me. -Jann Arden (in Andrew's book) Loving thoughts to all who new Andrew and our deepest sympathy to his family....

It's responses like yours Metaldad of "who gives a shit" that tarnish such forums...if you can't respond with intelligence perhaps you shouldn't respond at all... I checked some of your posts out and such posts as and I quote "They have returned to their Metal roots. Rejoice "...couldn't also fall into your "who gives a sh**" category.... We all love the band, join this forum to air our questions, opinions and the like...perhaps we can all show a bit of respect for one another...or perhaps not... You are taking this way too seriously. After considerable reflection I must admit that I was wrong in my hasty response to an earlier post...please accept this as my formal apology for any hostility that this might have caused....the tie has been loosened...the toupee is airing on the rack and a cold Guinness in hand..How bout that band RUSH!!

  7. QUOTE (Sarge @ Dec 17 2011, 10:29 AM) QUOTE (angel in my armor @ Dec 16 2011, 01:36 AM) I wonder what Neil was gesturing to Gump about on Digital Man?...he didn't seem to break a head that I could make out...good video extras..thanks for posting the Vimeo links. Doesn't look or sound to me like he's broke a head......looks like he's sayin "echo" and gesturing to his snare drum! Good eye..does look like he is saying "echo" and pointing to his snare...I've had that happen to me while playing live, something went south on the board and I was getting like a four times echo in my monitor from my snare..messes you up big time..

  9. Got it...love it...very well done in my opinion.Well thought out as the description and breakdown of the played examples...great sound too I might ad...and the live footage of the isolated Neil shots are excellent...two thumbs up!!
  10. Something else that I was noticing on Neils new DVD was that in a few shots of him warming up he looked either really tires ( as in just woke up) or like he`d been on a binge the night before....he seemed to have the booze nose going on..I`ve never read anything about him indulging such as that aside from the early days...anyone else notice that or have read anything...
  11. QUOTE (trenken @ Dec 8 2011, 09:18 AM) Geddy definitely has plenty of greys. I dont know why I havent seen any greys on Alex, but at his age he should definitely have them, so I guess it's possible he dyes it, but I dont even know why he would bother with that massive bald spot. Dying his hair really is not helping anything, if he does do it. And who the hell cares anyway? If they werent rockstars noone would ever look twice at any of them, but since they are, they could go out there rocking full heads of grey hair and it wouldnt matter. Being a rockstar instantly makes you attractive to women. It's amazing. The people that care about such trivial matters are the same ones that join forums such as this and post, comment and then complain about the content of such posts on the forum. I'm sure there are individuals that want to know but don't ask.... "What Rush song are you listening to right now"??..
  12. QUOTE (librarian @ Dec 6 2011, 07:51 PM) QUOTE (angel in my armor @ Dec 6 2011, 07:09 PM)QUOTE (librarian @ Dec 6 2011, 06:08 PM) and this is important because? Same importance as the umpteen dozen other pointless threads such as bitching about Geds voice or what "Rush song are you listening to right now" and so on..thought this was a rush forum..perhaps I was mistaken.. Oh. Thank you for clarifying. My pleasure..glad I could help...

Which section should this be in???..it's the Rush forum and it's a question about ..hmmm.Rush..I thought a topic such as this would garner some curiosity. in the new world woman section! har..
  15. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Dec 6 2011, 03:39 PM) Geddy has a bit on his soul patch. He also HAD a streak of grey in the part at the front. Why do I know this? What the hell is wrong with me? Good post...I vaguely remember that too.
  16. QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Dec 6 2011, 03:31 PM) QUOTE (angel in my armor @ Dec 6 2011, 03:24 PM) I'm sure that they do colour their hair....there is not a single grey hair on any of their noggins...I guess for rock and roll its cool...I'm going grey and would never do it..any other comments? The boys are too cool to be vain Then they must have been drinking the milk of paradise....colouring ones hair is very personal and I have friends that just fail to to have a grey hair on the heads...and dye them as they come in...allot of showbiz people do this but I just find it hard to imagine Neil sitting in a salon with his head back in a sink..

  19. QUOTE (Todem @ Dec 2 2011, 10:03 PM) QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Dec 2 2011, 07:47 PM) Personally...unless they added previously unavailable material, you won't get me to buy any remasters! I had the original CD's (well, and the LP's and cassettes as they came out and n some cases 8-tracks) and when they remastered the CD's the FIRST time, I picked them up through "freebies" with Columbia House (are they even in existence anymore?) and there is NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE! I think that MAYBE someone with extra crazy hearing MIGHT be a able to tell some subtle differences (and if you DO have that kind of hearing, you should go work as a mastering engineer) but to the average listener, it's a waste! And I don't want to hear "Oh my God I can tell the difference" Yeah, you got "rooked"! If you DON'T have the discs already, don't waste your hard earned money! Seriously and with all due respect. Speak for yourself (which you did). There are those like myself (musician to be exact) who can hear sonic differences in music in the way it is mixed, mastered, remastered etc etc. We appreciate when sonic standards are raised and understand the subtle sonic differences. Especially those of us with higher end home theater and car stereo equipment. I raise my glass to you!...great post!!...so many people jump on the "gotta have it" remastered band wagon and I..like you (also a musician) rarely if ever hear audible difference in the so called re-masters....to be honest ( and this dates me) the 12" pieces of vinyl sound way better in every spectrum...
  20. I think Neil is a great interview.....more knowledgeable than the average bear and he could talk the bark off a tree...
  21. I've played it on all audio settings and it's audible in all.....it's just the tongue drum-like chords that Neil is triggering from his Drumkat.....it just doesn't translate well in a concert setting in my opinion...there is no definition at all to that sound...and comes across as a drone like hum.
  22. It's just the patches Neil is using and how they come over the PA....the electronic solo part on the S&A tour was the same way live and on the DVD...I'm a drummer and love what Neil has done but I must say that I'm not a huge fan of the latest electric portion of his new solos...the drone that you hear is a tongue drum sorta sound thats what I meant by patch.I hope that answers your questions...Cheers.
  23. Geddy ain't Robert Goulet or Bing Crosby for gods sake...his voice is very unique and lends itself perfectly to the type of music pumped out by Rush..can't believe I'm commenting on this again...but 8 pages of this??..come on people...
  24. Here's something for all the Geddy basher's to ponder.....would you rather Rush just fold up and retire to Florida to never play again??... These guys are not young and they don't sound, look or move like they did when they were 20...but then again either do I.We should all be thankful for the fact that they are still making music for us.
  25. QUOTE (Tinwoodsman @ Nov 14 2011, 08:54 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 14 2011, 07:46 PM) QUOTE (angel in my armor @ Nov 14 2011, 08:43 PM) Some people just aren't happy unless they are bitching about something....I'm growing weary of such threads. In some cases, you can tell a lot about a thread by who started it. Like with reani here, you know his threads will most likely be a bitchfest, so they're easy to avoid if you feel the need. Aye! I realize now that I shouldn't have clicked...live and learn.. "Wheat Field Soul".... you gotta be from Sask or Man....nobody knows about that Guess who album unless they are from the prairies...
