  1. Ok , So its Friday the 12th I guess if there is going to be a gathering / meetup we should decide where....here is a link to LA Live , click eat and there's a complete listing of food and drink , personally my vote is for the Yard House ! 150+ Beers on tap.....'nough said. http://www.lalive.com/
  2. That brings up a good point... I have been wondering "What do you wear to a gig like this" Dress casual or my threadbare original Permanent Waves tour shirt , tattered jeans , bandana ( dress bandana , I learned that from Axl Rose ) old high top Reeboks and jeans jacket ?? Decisions , decicions. I feel we can wear anything within reason but out of respect I will be wearing nice slacks and my 2011 jersey. The wife will look he usual hotness of course. The wardrobe question is just driving me nuts!!! I gotta find a nice gown/dress to wear for Thursday; I'm assuming that Wednesday is jeans/sweatshirt casual, but I'm gonna call and hopefully get more info. I have about a month to find the right dress! Wednesday ? what did I miss ??

  4. So , is anyone else going ? several places to meet up around The Nokia . This will be The Ultimate Rush Party !!
  5. Do it , DO IT NOW, I took my son back during the R30 tour , he was 13 then and on the drive to Irvine meadows still hated riding in dads land criuser / mobile sound studio because it meant Rush 99.999% of the drive. As we got back in after the concert to go get a late dinner , HE was pulling up A show of Hands , Signals , etc. on his own. ps, we met a couple there who brought there 5 yo son , they were up on the lawn but te kid was ready ! I asked what his fav song si ??? Working Man...I didnt see that one coming,
  6. Its not too bad we were still on a short riser and they were ground level , theyre given access for 2 songs usually then theyre kicked to the curb.
  7. I had the same thing happen at The Wall this year at the coliseum. my budy and I are standing in the 15th row and all I can see between myself and Roger waters was a sea of 4.7" LCD screens ! I yelled out as loud as I could ( and if you know me , you know I bring the db's ) You jack asses paid $400 a seat to watch the show on your phone? I assure you the Blu ray will be of much better quality and will have production value that you cant get on any phone !! I got dozens of laughs and one guy who was apprently possesed , had the spell broken, stopped recording , turned , laughed and gave me a high 5 ...people ae sheep ...and I'm the wolf.
  8. I have always thought the sound at the Honda Center has sucked. For two shows I've been there for(not Rush) it was simply terrible to the point people complained and, in one case, said they were going to go down and tell the sound engineer on the floor!I think the place was built more as a sports arena with the sight lines taking precedence over acoustics. I wonder if the engineers "tweaked" with it during the break?? Keep in mind The Honda Ponda is similar to the way the Forum is and Madison Square Hovel is...theyre Barns ! its not like sound at Irvine Meadows or Universal Amph. The Front of House eng. will ring that place out forever and still be on the verge of feedback on the other hand he tends to have tyo mix on the fly a little as the crowd will effect the accoustics whether they are screaming or not .....But since i was in the front row with speakers and neil pointed squarly at my Cabasa , my ears rang until this morning.
  9. My raw gallery , some may need to be rotated and the blurry ones removed but here ya go anyway. https://plus.google.com/photos/110977747357798235868/albums/5812408064043037105?authkey=CIqcu9O78_y81wE
  10. No , they werent from Oz , the only fan I know from there made at least 2 shows the last tour
  11. Me too , however we were at the bar having drinks another couple from SD who were seeing Rush live for the 1st time...props to JTs for pumping in some Rush music into the Bar ! we left just before 6pm to get our VIP Nation envelope , I just want to take a moment to say that VIP nation are a bunch of the cest people EVER !!! https://lh6.googleus...03/IMG_2750.JPG .. I gave the envelope to my G.F. and had her open it ... I almost crapped my pants !! Section 102 , Row 1 , Seats 11-12 !! The show was great but for my first time in the front row for ANYTHING, Geddy could have fallen off the stage , Neil could have gone Kieth Moon and started trashing his set and I STILL would have thought it was the gratest thing ever ! The energy from the crowd behind me was phenominal but I couldnt help noticing that other than my G.F. and 2 guys next to us that fell into the front row thanks to the ticket fairy that everyone else in the first 2 rows were sour faced , unenthusiastic trolls , the date or wife of the guy to my right looked as if that the only reason she was there is because she lost a bet ! The first half of the show was th usual trip back in time , Where's my thing came off well but Ive never been a big Red Sector fan. It maybe me but Neil is looking heavy and puffy in the face and this is the first time in 35+ years of playing where he's played 3 shorter solos instead of 1 long one...it was a little disappointing actually , there was a funny moment at the end of his first solo he does a stick toss and hits hmself in the face as he tried to catch it , Neil wasnt too proud ,, Geddy walks out as their playing the 2nd half of the song ..he gives Neil a look of 'What the F was that ?" and looks down towards my direction and we both laughed and shrugged. The String ensemble in the 2nd half added a fullness to the wall of sound that keys can not duplicate , there was great intereaction between the boys and the strings and it didnt hurt that the Double Bass player was veeeery hot !! they stayed on through YYZ and again it was a positive the whole time. here is some raw pics from the 400 or so I took ...the out of focus ones were just from burst mode , enjoy. https://plus.google....CIqcu9O78_y81wE
  12. I thought you were going to talk about mine !!
  13. Yes it does work , as everyone has said send what you want to the venue about 2 weeks prior to their arrival , make sure its something you can do without just in case and include return postage. Last tour I sent my numbered MP litho to The last stop in Washington and got it back a week after the show . Include a new sharpie especially if you want them to sign something black ( I sent silver ) and address the package care of Road manager Rush and then the address of the venue.
  14. QUOTE (Orbourus @ Jul 5 2011, 10:44 AM)So , the mail just arrived , I got a tube from Portland , looks pretty good I think , it's now a Autographed , numbered , limited release litho. http://i.imgur.com/fVd92.jpg to begin with , sorry my pic was so big , imgur didn't resize it...anyway in response to people not getting things signed or not getting stuff back , what I'm noticing from peoples pics is that the guys are "personalizing " their autographs , ie: To Steve : Alex , Neil , Ged. The reason for this is so they don't see their autographs up on eBay ie: people making money off of it , when someones name is on it it really cant be sold or any real money made off of it unless its someone with the same name. So when I sen t my litho in I included a letter to them thanking for all of the years of entertainment and extolling them to keep going as my 2 y.o. daughter wants to see them live and included a pic of her in in a pink toddler Rush shirt , so I got back a nice little note and the numbered litho signed ...btw: I sent a silver sharpie so their sigs would match the numbering of the litho....already framed and on the wall in a safe place.
  15. I've been looking for this one for awhile and well ... we all know Ged loves him some baseball and Alex tries, God love him he tries but I have to say neither of them have that ball player "look"Geddy and Alex gets some BP in.

  21. QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Jun 4 2011, 03:25 PM) From 2002, he used In Ear Monitors . In mid 2010, he contracted an ear infection, which makes wearing In Ear Monitors incredibly painful (I talk from experience). Since then, he has wore 'over-ear' headphones, With the exception of Cleveland for the DVD recording, and Frankfurt at the end of the European leg of the tour. Prior to 2002 he had a loudspeaker based foldback system - using headphones occasionally for songs which required him to be dead in time with a sequencer - Red Sector 'A' springs to mind. Edit : To summarize - The headphones are just a method of feeding his monitor mix (a mix of the stage audio which suits the musicians requirements) to Neil. In the past he has used IEMs and also Loudspeakers, however, he has always* had monitor mixes - so in effect, nothing has changed since 1974. *I presume that in the past 37 years there may have been one or two failures of the monitor system. when you sweat as much as he does its real easy to catch an infection with the IFB's ...does anyone remember seeing him with the PZM mic tapped to his chest? I saw it on G.U.P. tour . He wanted to use it so that we could hear his drums the way he does... on the mixes you got more shirt ruffling and heavy breathing than drums.
  22. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Jun 15 2011, 11:56 AM) QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jun 15 2011, 12:30 PM) ...another guess: I "think" Alex might be getting into wine-making/owning his own winery. It seems to me I read that somewhere?? It certainly looks like it could also be a wine-label and that saying certainly sounds like something Alex would put on his brand. ^ that's a good guess even if they're not setting up a legitimate winery, maybe they're at least having fun with the idea/graphic design of it and yeah - those are def. matching shirts: Looks like they're Hogwarts fans ...
  23. Good Luck to me... I just sent MP 30th anniversary Lithograph # 78 to the Portland venue ( it's actually in Washington ??) I sent along a letter and a pic of my 2 1/2 y.o. daughter extolling them to carry on as there is a young fan waiting to see her first show in the coming couple of years.
