  1. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Sep 1 2004, 01:16 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 31 2004, 04:19 AM) Thanks for watching the store while I was on my forced hiatus, BSG. I'll take it from here. Methinks a hint or two might be in order Jack Can do. Here's another quote: 'Wrong or right, they have the might, so wrong or right, they're always right, and that's wrong... right?' I'm in a generous mood, so here's another: 'Far more seasoned rascals than you have polished their souls, I advise you, get out the wax. Better to be rubbed clean than rubbed out.'
  2. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Sep 1 2004, 11:40 AM) I never thought I would say this after Batman Forever, but I'm actually excited about this new Batman movie. That trailer has a much darker atmosphere then the cartoony ones in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. It almost even seems darker then the first two. Thanks for the link Jack. You're very welcome, and I agree absolutely with everything you said. Plus, the cast is amazing! Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson. I am very tempted to say: 'How can they go wrong?'.
  3. It occured to me that we may have some peeps here who have not seen it. 'Batman Begins'
  4. Yep, that's him! http://www.joblo.com/newsimages1/batsuit.jpg
  5. This looks stylistically cool. Bale is doing what he does best: playing the wild-eyed intense guy. WARNING: the long trailer contains nudity and adult language, definitely not office-friendly. The three short trailers are safe, but they don't contain a whole lot. 'The Machinist'
  6. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 30 2004, 11:26 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ Aug 29 2004, 08:02 AM) Hey, I loved the Pink Panther when I was a kid. I've looked everywhere for a DVD set and can't find one. Does anyone know if this exists? Any help is appreciated. Are you referring to the Clouseau movies or the cartoon series? You know what? I just noticed that you had the word 'cartoon' in the subject line for this thread. Nothing gets by me, does it?
  7. The only Pink Panther cartoons available on DVD are a collection of shorts originally shown in theaters during the 60's. There are no 'Inspector' or 'Ant And The Aardvark' shorts on this one. Here's a link: Jet Pink
  8. QUOTE (BSG @ Aug 31 2004, 09:01 AM) Does this mean I need to wait for him before responding? Well, yes, that would have been the courteous thing to do..... Snowdog's a cool guy and he may not mind. But he still might stomp you like a narc at a biker rally.

  10. OK, I'll admit it. I like Rhys Ifans. His performance was the best part of 'Notting Hill' and I'm glad to see that he's getting bigger and more diverse parts. It looks like it's his turn to play the bad guy now. So, check out: 'Enduring Love'.

  13. You know, the Irish would have conquered the world had whiskey never been invented..... (And yes, I'm part Irish.)
  14. QUOTE (Sassafras @ Aug 27 2004, 05:28 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 26 2004, 09:18 PM)'All we've been through, for nothing but an idea! Something you cannot taste, smell, or feel; without substance, life, or memory.' Cleopatra possibly? (Taylor/Burton) No, sorry.
  15. QUOTE (BSG @ Aug 26 2004, 10:56 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 26 2004, 10:18 PM) This movie was made before 1980. Next quote: 'All we've been through, for nothing but an idea! Something you cannot taste, smell, or feel; without substance, life, or memory.' Spartacus? Nope.

  17. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 25 2004, 10:12 AM) Next Quote: 'I shall not be wounded and not return it in kind! I'm done with feeble hoping! I demand a man's vengeance!' You folks want a hint or another quote from the movie?
  18. Is this the movie quote game thread or the quote from the movie 'Airplane' thread? (I crack myself up.)
  19. QUOTE (BSG @ Aug 26 2004, 11:23 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 25 2004, 10:12 AM) Next Quote: 'I shall not be wounded and not return it in kind! I'm done with feeble hoping! I demand a man's vengeance!' Gladiator (I don't get out much, ya know.) "Son, do you like movies about gladiators?" Swing and a miss.
  20. 'Double Agent', cause its so 'bizarro-cool'. One of their biggest departures since 'Red Lenses'.
  21. 'Time Stand Still'. It's my wife's favorite Rush song, so that makes it special. (Ain't I sappy?)
  22. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Aug 25 2004, 01:40 PM) A TV (it DOES have a screen but I haven't measured it, come on! How anal can you be? ) You don't have to measure your screen! It's printed on the front of the instruction manual. All a man has to do is glance at it briefly and it is forever seared in his memory (til he gets a new tv). Do not mock the manly realm of electronics obsession! *Sigh*. Women...
  23. QUOTE (BSG @ Aug 25 2004, 01:24 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 25 2004, 10:12 AM) Next Quote: 'I shall not be wounded and not return it in kind! I'm done with feeble hoping! I demand a man's vengeance!' Can we puh-leeze get back on track? (Youze guys! ) Umm............ a movie about vengeance, slightly literate, but the language not dated enough to be Shakespearean...... "Conan The Destroyer" (Yes, that's my guess.) Nope, not 'Conan'. (Has anyone else noticed that the sound on the 'Conan' DVD is in mono? Somebody really dropped the ball.)
  24. I've been thinking about this for a while. I remember Mr. Binary mentioning something on another board about component hookups (and I'm still waiting for him to elaborate on it [no pressure]) and thought that the whole home theater realm was ripe for discussion. So go ahead and brag about your setup, ask questions, debate the merits of progressive scan dvd players, anamorphic widescreen vs. full-frame, or anything your heart desires. I'll start. Forgive me for boasting, but guys love to do it. My setup: 42" Gateway plasma HD-capable monitor. Pioneer progressive scan dvd player DTS and Dolby capable. JVC RX-6020V Receiver DTS/Dolby. Bose Acoustimass AM-500 speakers (My mother-in-law owed us money, she won the speakers in a raffle, we made a deal.) Comcast digital cable with (so far) 8 channels in HD. Next? Come on, don't be shy!
