  1. Who cares about the stupid video? The song is good, so why worry about a video? It's the audio that matters, man.
  2. I heard the song on the radio today on my way home. I think it's very good. It goes well with everything else on the album.
  3. QUOTE (RickBlackwell @ Aug 31 2012, 06:23 PM) Good enough song I guess but I kept waiting for Lerxst to go into a really whaling solo and it never happened. I thought they were going to return to the heavier sound without so much keyboards. WHERE'S ALL THE GUITARS? Yay!! My first post here! Hello everybody! http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/25982503.jpg
  4. Good heavens that's serious! How awful. I certainly hope all goes well and the boy comes out without permanent damage.
  5. QUOTE (Good, bad, andrush @ Aug 25 2012, 10:51 PM) I'm a college freshman as well Loving it so far. I'm not really the kind to drink or smoke, and I love learning so I think I'll do good You think you'll do well. Psh sheesh, go to school! Don't waste your youth, Reeds, college is a great opportunity. Just think of the future and how much will be open to you once you're done with the hard stuff. I graduated high school in 2007 and decided to go to community college right away. Made it 2 semesters, then I got a job. Something in my head said "hey it'll be awesome to work more and go to school less! MORE MONEY! " So I was like "f**k YEAH LET's DO IT!" Big mistake. Sure, I made lots of money, some of which I still have socked away, but here I am just turned 23 and don't even have a two-year degree to speak of. Since then I've moved to a new state, gotten a new job as a Tool & Die design engineer (how I pulled that off, I have no idea...), and returned to community college to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I hope to really take off with that some day. Hopefully after I have my Associate's under my belt, I'll be able to get a better job with a higher income and be able to fully finance the education needed to complete a Bachelor's degree. However, because of my past decisions, I'm forced to take these actions in very small bites. I have a full time job to consider and a marraige in the works, which will include an impending home purchase and family. Who knows how I'll pay for it all, or if will even be able to. Don't get yourself into that situation, just get it over with now, while Mommy & Daddy are footing the bill! I've lost that, but I was a dumbass I wish the best of luck to you, buddy! Show us your shiny new degree in 4 years and make us proud.
  6. QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Aug 21 2012, 06:58 PM) I'm a bit tolerant of music. I listen to prog, metal, alternative, grunge, rock, blues, mostly anything that requires some sort in instrument. It's easy for me to connect somewhere when it comes to music. I'm the complete opposite. I listen to a handful of bands and very rarely I'll find a newer one such as Astra that I really enjoy. The rest, I really don't enjoy. I get shit for not listening to a broad selection of music, but why listen to it when I genuinely don't like it? I have an extremely narrow taste in music. It's not to be a snobbish asshole, though.
  7. QUOTE (HamiltonYYZ @ Aug 13 2012, 05:49 AM) QUOTE (Enemy Within 77 @ Aug 12 2012, 10:44 AM) QUOTE (Your_Lion @ Aug 12 2012, 09:11 AM) Astronomy by Blue Oyster Cult. Specifically the live version on 'Some Enchanted Evening' with the extended guitar solo. Fantastic. Great solo! Great band ! IMO the greatest American rock band ever The live album "Long Days Night" has an epic version of Astronomy. Over 10 minutes in length, perfect Buck shreddage. One of the recordings that got me really into BOC.
  8. The Endless Dream by Yes Starts out bitchin proggy unbelievable ass kickery, then turns to nice lovely piano music then works its way into Sunday-school hymnal church choir weirdness. It's awesome!
  9. Thanks folks and a belated happy birthday to TRF! What are we, 7 now?
  10. I thought most cars weren't supposed to be able to drive once the airbag deployed....
  11. QUOTE (Jeffrey @ Aug 12 2012, 03:34 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Aug 12 2012, 02:27 PM)I'm not too big on CA's lyrics myself either. To me, Neil is at his best when he writes on all the facets of real life and the experiences we go through every day. I love his observations and commentaries on albums like Hold Your Fire, Roll the Bones, and Snakes & Arrows. CA is too so steeped in fantasy, it's not something I can relate to and be like "Yeah, he just articulated exactly how I feel about -X-." Quite the opposite in my opinion. Neil's uses the CA story to correlate very much so to life in "today's world". Some examples: Caravan - Similar to Middletown Dream, getting away to pursue your dreams BU2B - We are a product of our upbringing and environment and our belief system is initially very much driven by our parents, schooling, culture etc. Halo Effect - Most of us have fallen in love with illusions, I have. The Wreckers - How many things in life appear to be beacons but are actually out there to rob from you (TV evalengists, a lot of things in our financial system etc.) Headlong Flight - Life certainly is a journey of ups and downs Wish Them Well - Something a good moto to live by The Garden - Rush is the soundtrack of my life, this song is simply the soundtrack of life itself Could not agree more, my friend
  12. QUOTE (Sheldon Cooper @ Aug 10 2012, 11:21 AM) QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Aug 9 2012, 08:14 PM) Stephen Wiltshire was big a few years back, and now for some reason has gotten internet hype again. While his visual memory is uncanny, this hype is feeding the misconception that autistic people are savants. http://i.imgur.com/wc0cu.png ^ This is medically untrue. Especially the comment on the very bottom. The problem here is, these comments are top rated on this image of Stephen Wiltshire, and that concerns me for many reasons. This is a lot like when people say they think it would be fun to have schizophrenia, or they claim to have OCD because an inconsistency bothers them... Ignorance around disabilities isn't something I take lightly since those who are really suffering from them are brushed to the side. They're not fun little terms to throw around like badges for behavior - they're indeed disorders. While for some there can be a groundbreaking upside to the alteration (as we see here with Stephen), the masses are not doing so well at all. I work with those with autism on a weekly basis and for some, their low standard of living and obsessive anti-social behavior is really putting them in a terrible societal position. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/debbie.gif Thanks for letting us enjoy the drawing. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/Smilies%20GIFs/squintfinger.gif I don't know if I'd take the comments seriously considering they come from people named "PeePeeFrictionPleasure" and "poopdick"
  13. QUOTE (Khan @ Aug 2 2012, 10:31 AM) I just put my VT disc on the concrete, placed my foot on it and moved it around vigorously. Will let you know if Crest cleans it up.... That album does need some toothpaste....
  14. QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Aug 1 2012, 05:24 PM) QUOTE (jwoods89 @ Aug 1 2012, 05:23 PM) QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Aug 1 2012, 02:14 PM) Thank God I'm not on Facebook. You're the only one. I'm the only one thanking God I'm not on Facebook? If that's what he implied then he's wrong!
  15. 1. Far Cry 2. Caravan 3. BU2B 4. Clockwork Angels 5. The Anarchist 6. Carnies 7. Halo Effect 8. Earthshine 9. Seven Cities of Gold 10. The Wreckers 11. Headlong Flight 12. Wish Them Well 13. The Garden
  16. Dreamline was totally a live concert staple. Since Roll the Bones came out right up to the Time Machine Tour. I have no interest in hearing Dreamline at all. It's an awesome song, but it's been done soooo much. Switch it with You Bet Your Life and then you got a deal Unfortunately Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio are stuck forever. Can't avoid it. Freewill is getting kind of old for me, but I can't help but to love that middle jam section no matter how many times I hear it I would not be upset if Working Man took a backseat for this tour.
  17. QUOTE (RUSH-2112 @ Jul 27 2012, 11:15 AM) We use to do Red Sector A 2 years ago. Different members back then as opposed to now, but we can bring it back. Never attemped The Weapon or Kid Gloves. I'm sure The Weapon will make it eventually and we might as well learn Freeze to complete the Fear Trilogy. Losing It is one of my all time favs, but that one will be a tough one to pull off. Kid Gloves isn't too difficult once you get the guitar solo down
  18. Anyone else notice that if you read 2112 backwards it reads 2112?!?!?!?!?!
  19. The cotton gin. Imagine how different the world would be if not for those blasted contraptions!
  20. Read that shit then get to typing! I want an ebook by next Thursday!
  21. QUOTE (deathlikesilence @ Jul 24 2012, 03:30 PM) RIP, i liked the jeffersons when i was a little kid also interesting, sherman was a fan of prog-rock I figured that! I saw him on TV once wearing a Yes shirt, and thought, " Holy crap, that's so awesome!"
  22. Raymond by a mile. I love Home Improvement too, but I gravitate toward the TV shows based around adults more than kids. HI was hilarious with Tim, Al, and Wilson, but the other characters stole a lot of the show from them. No BRAD, don't care about your girlfriend problems. No MARK, don't care that your brothers are pickin on ya. No RANDY, you're a wiseass. And I never really liked Jill. Now on ELR, all the characters are hilarious. Peter Boyle = every second on screen. And the show doesn't revolve so much around the kids.
  23. poater, eh? Sounds dirty, whatever it is
  24. QUOTE (Queslington @ Jul 24 2012, 02:46 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jul 24 2012, 02:21 PM) QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jul 24 2012, 03:18 PM) It's stupid to think this won't be played live, No spoiler for me. It's not stupid. Never assume anything, even when Alex says they'll play it. Especially when Alex is the one who says it. Exactly. Whatever the chances of it being played were before, are 50% less after Alex says they are playing it.
  25. What exactly is that thing anyway? A sign?
