  1. About 5-6 years ago I recommended to another Aussie TRFer that he go stateside to see Rush because the day MIGHT never come when they tour Oz. He didn't like the sound of that (in fact, he asked me not to say such a thing) BUT it is a strong possibility. However, since then I think he's gone twice to the U.S. to see Rush...seeing them multiple times on both trips, scoring front row seats for at least 1 gig, and getting a pair of Neil's sticks because of some sign he brought mentioning Australia. So yeah, don't wait for them to go to Oz! Go and buy your plane ticket!! Oh yeah I remember that guy! He's a very cool dude; it was cool to meet him in Toronto!
  2. I would guess that if they decide to go out for an R40 tour next year (highly unlikely), that it would be their "farewell" tour. Then retirement. Not a bad idea to tell you the truth. Sign off at 40 years. Now if they were to break for a couple of years, skip over 2014 so all the "R40" talk stops, they'd be more likely to craft a new EP or full album, release that, then go on their album/farewell tour and call it quits. Geddy sounded good on the Clockwork tour....but I also heard the struggle in the man's voice just trying to sing Subdivisions...it sounds like it actually hurts....
  3. I'd love to get the audio from the R30 blu-ray and ditch the tracks I have on my iPod that I had ripped from the DVD years ago. It'd be great to have all those missing songs in there! Alas, I have no blu-ray reading equipment and am not about to blow a load of cash on it.
  4. Available Light comes to mind. I LOVE the "wind can carry" and "IN THE available light" repetition. Goosebumps. I'd love to hear that song live, but it's doubtful
  5. Doesn't surprise me, either. douchebag TARKY!!!!!! FaceTime us soon... we have LOTS to tell you guys!!! Hey! :) You'll have to initiate that with Kate, I no longer own Apple products. (Windows 8 out the ass)
  6. Yeah let me just make a quick stop at /r/WTF... http://i.imgur.com/5n9EIGb.gif
  7. I've been listening to VT for years without the headache or the ear-ringing, and less the mid-level white noise mess that plagues the original release. It was a homemade remaster which greatly reduced the amount of clipping and thundering wall of noise, and allowed the listener to actually hear the music. With this new remix, we may be getting a new level of clarity and detail. But we also need to be prepared to get a set of songs that will have a completely different sonic feel. All of those personal favorite moments of emotion, kick, punch, or other nuances tied to the original mix could be to be taken away. The Retrospective 3 remixes did just that, and they are terrible. I'm trying to find excitement in this remix release, but I'm just not there. Personally, I was hoping to have everything I love about the original mix to be kept intact and still be able to experience a cleaned up sound. That will more than likely not be the case. I hope I'm blown away and proven to be worried for no reason. Perhaps David Bottrill latched on to the original core of sound and the output stays true to what VT has meant to me for all these years. Time will tell, I guess. We shouldn't think of it as losing the original release, just gaining a newer release! I'm looking forward to playing both back to back to hear such differences. I'm almost certain if there's any increase in clarity with the remix at all, that will become my favorite.
  8. Yeah wtf I came here to ask the same question. Nobody else seems to be even really talking about it.
  9. Having good credit is very important in today's modern world. Try getting a mortgage without it! I got my card when I was 18, been using it sparingly whenever I want to purchase online or for something over a few hundred bucks. Don't rack up the balance over about half your limit, make responsible transactions and pay them off on time and after a while your score will be gold. I actually carry my card on me at all times, along with my debit card, and never had any problems. All it takes is a little of THIS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/90/Discipline%2C_King_Crimson.jpg
  10. Along with Crime of the Century, Breakfast in America, and Even in the Quietest Moments, I have to highly recommend Famous Last Words, Crisis, What Crisis?, as well as their self-titled debut album Supertramp. Those are all fantastic albums that get plenty of listens from me :) And if you dig Rick Davies' style enough, you should also check out Brother Where You Bound. That's a great album, too. I'm not a huge fan of Free as a Bird, Some Things Never Change, or Slow Motion, but I have given them some listens and wasn't too disappointed.
  11. I can see being grateful that they're even playing. And I am. But with the internet and setlist.fm and all, most people at the show are going to know that they played some of their might-be favorite songs at the previous show and that they're getting shelved for more common material that they've already seen several times. How can one not feel left out when that happens? First show I saw on the CA tour...it was amazing....yet, I still knew that I missed out on the Manhattan Project in order to hear Dreamline for the 9th time. Last week in Nashville, I stood through Limelight (again), knowing I missed out on The Body Electric. Normally I enjoy Limelight, but during that time it was disappointing JUST because I knew that so many other people got to hear a song I'd LOVE to hear live. It is all a matter of perspective...Hell, people were probably more pissed that they had to hear Middletown Dreams instead of their favorite radio hit. It goes both ways. I do wish that I had never looked at setlists before the shows. Then I would have been 100% thrilled with each and every song at each show, not thinking about what was 'missed'.
  12. Last night in Nashville they played Set A with Limelight in place of The Body Electric. Same as first show.
  13. I too really have grown much more appreciation for the PoW song after the CA suite. I'm really hoping to hear it in Nashville instead of that commonly played track from the early 90's that it kept getting rotated with...
  14. This almost gives me hope of hearing Manhattan Project in Nashville. almost
  15. I wish they would do that because:1. I'd get the set I prefer 2. We'd all get what we get and nobody would be missing out on anything. 3. MANHATTAN PROJECT
  16. SHIT. Same setlist as Atlanta last year. I wanted Middletown Dreams and Bravado and NOT Wish Them Well. I loves me some Limelight, but c'mon, I want some vault stuff! In the same boat. We saw Set B with Dreamline last year and it looks like we're getting it again in Nashville this year. I got to see Set A in Bridgeport last year but my wife hasn't gotten to see The Body Electric or Manhattan Project and I was hoping she would be able to. Damn it!
  17. I dunno, man, I dig Tusk Mirage and Tango are both solid as well. Just saw them in Louisville recently, and they performed a bunch of Tusk material. EXCELLENT performance on everything! Even without Lady McVie they really put on a great show. Highlights were Buckingham's behavior during "Not That Funny", Fleetwood's hilarity and drum solo during "World Turning", the powerful guitar solo of "I'm So Afraid", and I also really enjoyed Buckingham's acoustic rendition of "Big Love". I'd pay the big dough to see that show again! So...off a cliff, they are NOT!
  18. I've never had the pleasure of quitting smoking (never started), but I don't know how the f**k I'm gonna be able to quit eating these mothafuckin crescent burgers! http://hostedmedia.reimanpub.com/TOH/Images/Photos/37/exps13185_CB1217C11.jpg
  19. I certainly wouldn't want to pay $130 for a 90 minute show, but I wouldn't expect a show half the length to be half the cost. I'd be okay with paying $80-$90. To clarify: I don't mean lawn seats!
  20. Glad to hear there's a third album in the works! :D
