  1. Really bummed out right now, but it's really comforting to see all these old friends coming out of the woodwork to pay condolences.
  2. This song is worth a listen, no really!!
  3. Well they are certainly char-broiling the string section every night!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/bastillenight/IMG_1117-5.jpg (From Toronto, night 2)
  4. Same shit, different year! Great to see old friends popping in occasionally. This really was and is a great place to hang out.
  5. QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Sep 28 2012, 10:20 PM) QUOTE (sullysue @ Sep 28 2012, 10:02 PM) QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Sep 28 2012, 04:12 PM) tired. You're always tired, you goofball. As is evident from your avatar. Shower cap and all. Wake the hell up for once! Seven plus years of this shit. time to revive the welcome thread? Resting up for RushCon, I presume?!
  6. My jaw kept hitting the floor each time a the next song was played, it was just fantastic! If I was forced to complain about something, the reggae Working Man is played out (IMO) and the encore was very anticlimactic. That was my first opening night Rush show, and I'm so glad I went....well worth the long drive from Toronto. Can't wait for the Toronto shows and hopefully seeing a secondary setlist!!!
  7. Here's my vid of Neil's 'electronic' solo, just before Red Sector A. I've got a few more, but man they take a long time to upload!
  8. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Aug 22 2012, 08:58 AM)QUOTE (D3strukt @ Aug 22 2012, 02:11 AM) It's on R30. As for if they'll play it again, who knows? It's become very hard over the last few tours to predict what they'll play. It closed the first set.
  9. Just got the shipping notification from Music Today for my opening night tickets.
  10. QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jul 15 2012, 09:26 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Jul 15 2012, 08:06 PM) I took a two week hiatus on CA, and am just listening to it again tonight. The Wreckers holds up for me, and I think it will hold up for a long time. Sorry that it doesn't work for you dude! More and more I'm feeling sorry for the cynical folk that can't appreciate this material! Call me a sap, but I'm loving this shit!!! Ah alright, not loving The Wreckers automatically makes one "cynical." Good to know! YES! You got my point exactly!

  12. I just read Candide for the first time just because of the reference from this album (yay Neil, you made me read something I otherwise would only have just thought about reading). Yep, Goob's analysis seems to fit. I was actually quite surprised that there was some backlash against the concept. There are many angry people here! There were a bunch of other cool quotes in the Candide text that I need to fish out. Such a cool book. It's funny to realize that people back in 1700s were thinking the same shit as we're thinking now, and maybe we haven't really progessed that much? I wonder how Voltaire would have approached message boards?
  13. My favorite Rush song flips back and forth between La Villa and Nat Sci. Natural Science wins tonight (just had a memory of 'dancing' to Nat Sci at the Calgary Saddledome with a cool Rush chick!)
  14. We kept it a surprise for both our kids, it just seemed more fun that way. My wife was CONVINCED that our second child was going to be a boy (mostly from stupid old wives tales), so she freaked out when a girl popped out. The look on her face was one of the best moments of my life when the doc said, "it's a girl!".
  15. The sea was angry that day my friends. Like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.
  16. QUOTE (ucsteve667 @ Jun 22 2012, 07:20 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Jun 22 2012, 05:12 PM) Fun show, and it was interesting to hear your takes on the tunes. I love hearing all the different thoughts on these songs, and many of the comments have made me go back to a song with different ears. Good stuff! Gotta agree with some of the comments here though, the production was gawdawful....sounded like Goobs was talking through a tin can phone most of the time.....I used to like his booming bass voice back in the Interdimensional era. WTF, did you hire Nick R to mix this?!?! ( ) it was a skype conversation, best I could do. If Goobs wasnt 3000 miles away, and Chris is like 1500 or so, I could record it better. But that aside I appreciate ya checkin it out and all. I was trying to be ironic since the sound quality of CA seemed to be a bone of contention on the podcast (and here). Minor ball-busting, once again ruined by the typed word on the internet! Seriously, loved the podcast!

  18. I always use Hotwire.com to get a room when I stay downtown...cheap rates and the rooms have always been good. Just be sure to select only the 'Downtown Toronto West' or 'Downtown Toronto East' options on the map. Springsteen is in town that weekend at the Skydome (I'll be there!), so hotels could be busy! Check out this link for Rush-related Toronto sights (although it is out of date, so you may want to double check on some of the stuff): http://www.sarnia.com/music/rush/to.html
  19. Yaaayy, but d'oh! I'm going camping in about 5 minutes (yeah, I know I shouldn't have played, but couldn't help myself...). So, to clear the air, I hereby allow anybody else to pass judgement on the captions for this picture, at any time after Saturday June 16th at 10:20pm EST! http://www.finalfantasymusicscores.com/DCC/MrDoofus/MrDoofus-MadConductor1982.jpg
  20. So I picked up my CD copy today at Best Buy, and this is what's on the back. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/bastillenight/IMG_0133.jpg Edited to shrink photo to reasonable size!
