  1. A lot of Rush's 70s early 80s songs like Tom Sawyer, 2112, Xanadu, etc lost their oomph because of the particular live sound Rush had going late 80s early 90s but La Villa & YYZ were exceptions. I like those two better with the Wal Signature/PRS guitars
  2. I'm pretty sure the RTB tour was the only one where YYZ wasn't in the set list. I still like that truncated version of La Villa they did during the HYF/Presto/RTB tours more than the original. It sounded better with the Wal bass and Alex's echo-ey sparkle-y guitar sound he had plus they hit all the best parts of the song without the repetition of the original
  3. I have an issue of Guitar Player from 1990 with Alex & Geddy on the cover circa Presto which is interesting because Geddy is not wearing his glasses and has his hair pulled back thus making his nose look extra large and Alex is holding a blue-turquoise colored PRS that I've never seen him with aside from that photo
  4. A red Wal bass just like the one Geddy used during the RTB era
  5. I actually meant to type "1.25x" speed in my original post lol 1.5x is TOO fast lol

    Rupert Hine RIP

I wonder what song Rupert was referring to as being amazing to witness? If I were to guess, I'd say Scars
  7. I hear you on that. I thought they started going overboard with the produced comedy bits on the last few tours and the ever-growing amount of props on the stage
  8. The chaotic mix and songs that are all at least a few minutes too long are what ruin the album for me. Also I can't understand most of what Geddy is saying. Its like he's singing in a different language, Welsh perhaps. Lol
  9. If CA was remixed, reordered (The title song should've been the lead off track and two minutes shaved off of it) and three or four of the weaker songs dropped that didn't effect the storyline, I'd probably like it better. Wouldn't love it but would consider promoting it above its current status of "drink coaster"
  10. Armor & Sword sounds like it was mastered at the wrong speed, like a half step too slow or more Listen to it on YouTube on 1.5x playback Much better! Lol
  11. Popoff is pretty open about how he doesn't like the Presto/RTB era
  12. The other thing that takes away from Tai Shan & High Water is that lyrically, they don't really fit with the theme of the album. Like I mentioned earlier, I pretend the album ended with Turn The Page and TS and HW are just two bonus tracks not directly related to anything that came previously
  13. I don't care for TFE's production. It has an odd fuzziness /over distorted-saturation to it that Counterparts didn't. Geddy's bass didn't sound as good either. I remember my buddy complaining at the time that parts of Limbo just sound like noise
  14. The biggest problem with the Rio show is Geddy's vocals are too low in the mix
  15. It comes up from time to time on here but apparently any footage that was left off the final edit of the ESL concert video was lost or thrown out decades ago. Never gonna see anything extra from that, nor the GUP show. Although some guy was claiming years ago he had the missing GUP in his possession and was going to release it but it was BS
  16. How is this going to be much different than the two or three previous coffee table books Popoff wrote about Rush album by album?
  17. Ellish's pretentious breathy whispery voice gimmick renders her music unlistenable for me
  18. I don't know if it was the mix or their sound or a combination of things but the mid '80s GUP/PW songs on the CA tour sounded a little rote and dull, not anything like they did on ASOH or the bootlegs I heard from the GUP/PW tours. Alex doesn't really look all that excited during The Body Electric on the DVD
  19. I like the beginning of Spindrift and the guitar riff. But then I find myself losing interest in the song and jabbing the skip button about a minute & a half into it lol
  20. You know, Neil penned some pretty awkward cringy lyrics from time to time but even his worst had nothing on THAT awful dreck "Pizza man wanting a slice" ?
  21. TFE, Snakes, Feedback & Clockwork are pretty much relegated to drink coaster status for me. Vapor Trails has at least three or four songs I find worthwhile
  22. This is going to sound nitpicky but the particular reverb on Lee's vocals on ATWAS always bothered me and took away from it. His 70's voice sounded better on live recording with a slightly drier effect like on the Different Stages disc 3 years later or how he sounded on the studio records
  23. I'm pretty sure the bass in Scars using a repetitive looped synth was much easier (especially playing live) than playing it manually. Its the same line over and over again. No way would Geddy wanted to recreate that live on his Wal
  24. I liked Double Agent circa 1993 when Counterparts came out. Now years later it just sounds corny
