    That's beautiful.

  3. Recently: Flying Colors - excellent from start to finish Jack Blades - solo album - Rock n Roll Ride - fun record and typically Jack.
  4. Don't forget the rumored Sept 11th date for Pittsburgh.
  5. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 2 2012, 09:50 PM) If I had an animal in for an emergency procedure, I would certainly not want the general populace plastered against the windows gawking. Though admittedly it would not, at the time, be a major concern. Spay/neuter? No big deal. Exactly, if my baby were sick or hurt and had to have a surgery, I don't think I'd want everyone watching. I certainly couldn't watch. I can't even watch that emergency vet show on tv and those pets are strangers.
  6. QUOTE (Phantom @ Apr 1 2012, 06:35 AM) http://www.rushisaband.com I'm going to go ahead and call this April Fool's.... Especially given that's on old photo.... Not to mention Cygnus X-1 and PW posted the same story on their Twitter feeds within a minute of each others story. Kudos to all three for an orchestrated April fool for us all. Hi Phantom
  7. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Apr 1 2012, 08:52 AM) QUOTE (the_necro_dancer @ Apr 1 2012, 06:31 PM) Marketing ploy? Taking the piss more like. If this was Radiohead we would have had the record weeks ago. If they were Radiohead, I wouldn't give a shit. You beat me to it JohnnyBlaze - Happily, Rush is not Radiohead.

I sent an email The guy in the Mailroom will get back to you as soon as he is done sending out Nickleback flyers much needed levity, thank you.

I really like it and it held up pretty good when I hit Bambi's father a few weeks ago. It's all fixed up and good as new again. Sure is better on gas than my Monte Carlo SS was. Do you know if you can turn that "eco" light off?? I find it distracting..
  10. QUOTE (Coltonz @ Mar 19 2012, 06:46 PM) Hello everybody! I like to consider myself an "official lurker" as I don't post here very often unless I feel compelled to... And well, this is one of those times. Snakes and Arrows was released when I was only in Grade 8, at the end of my elementary school education.. I am now graduated from high school, and Snakes and Arrows is still the last album that has been released by Rush. The time between the end of elementary school and the end of high school feels like a span of geological time (see what I did there?) when you're going through it, and that thought kinda just made me realize how long its been since the last album. However, when I listen to S&A, it still feels exciting and fresh, not dated like so many current-generation albums would sound like after such a span of time. And I love it just as much as any other album the band has put out. Looking forward to Clockwork Angels, I feel more excited for the release than mostly anything I've had to look forward to recently. I consider myself one of those Rush fans that loves the music that the band has produced throughout the all their decades, and I feel like this next album will be absolutely terrific (and its been a looooong time waiting). I check these forums nearly every day for CA news and rumors (because why search for news on the upcoming album when I can just get other Rush nerds to do it for me?) and lately I've had a hard time having to read the grating comments from certain users on this board. I don't know why so many people are bashing the album before it even comes out.. I think Caravan & BU2B are fantastic. I also think that younger people are generally more open-minded about Rush's newer releases (and dont give me that crap about liking the stuff because I was raised on NSYNC etc etc.... I was raised on my dads old record collection) Anyways.. I might be starting to ramble, so I'll just finish this thread by saying.. I wish the less-optomistic people on here would just keep their crummy comments to themselves and let the people who are actually looking forward to the next album and are excited about it, do so. Because I am 19 years old and have a spent great portion of my adolescent life just waiting for the next Rush album to come out, and gosh darn it, I think its gonna be awesome. So there!! Bravo and good for you. S & A was your "Discovery Album" it will always hold a special place in your heart. It has been a long time waiting for this one but we're almost there! Your story really puts it into perspective tho, you've gone thru all your high school years waiting on an album. That wouldn't have happened in the "old days", an album a year is what we had been used to for a long time, and it was a magical time. It is good to see a whole new generation of younger fans, hope for the future.
  11. Hi Janie - sounds like you are doing all the right things, your furbaby just may take more time than others. All my methods have been mentioned above, I can only say what worked for my two kids. My first furbaby was a weim, which is also a large breed, they seem to train differently than the smaller ones. She (Velvet) trained much easier than my second one did. I used the crate all the time with Velvet until she was fully trained. You want their living space to be small when they are just learning. You already know they won't potty where they sleep and live. Consistency and repetition are the key and it looks like you are doing that. My second dog is a Havanese (Paco) he's a little guy only 14 pounds. It was a little harder with him, but I used the crate again until he was able to hold it for longer times. You are doing all the right things - using the same door all the time, keeping a schedule, using a keyword (Velvet would pee every time I said the word potty) ; find a motivator for her, trying different treats until you find the right one. Try and find a treat that is really stinky, dogs seem to like stinky things. I used a bell with both of my dogs, Velvet was so good with the bell, she would go to the door, ring the bell, go outside and potty right away and come right back in. Paco sometimes likes to ring the bell just for fun, but he's not as smart as Velvet was. As for the stairs and the downward jumping motion - this is the most destructive motion for a large breed dog or a dog with a longer spine. Jumping off of things and jumping down stairs. My back deck has three stairs and Velvet never used them, just always jumped down them. I never knew this was bad for her but in retrospect I'll always believe that it contributed to her spinal problems, which was eventually what took her away from me. You say that yours was from a puppy mill situation. We've all seen the pictures of the dogs stacked in crates and they never get out, they just potty right there in the crate and then they're not cleaned properly. Could it be that she was in that type of situation and thats all she knows? If she's from that type of situation then it may be something that will take longer than for a dog that was born into and spent their first few weeks in a proper home for a baby. If she was in a puppy mill situation she might not have had the benefit of a mother and siblings to teach her properly.. that's just a crazy though I had since your girl seems to just potty anywhere and move along. Bottom line, I have no new tricks or methods to offer, I think you're doing all the right things it just might take longer. Be patient (it's hard), be observant and vigilant. Praise when she potties outside and take away your attention and affection when she potties inside. Your love may be a better motivator than the best stinky treat, some dogs are more food motivated than others. Mostly I can say BLESS YOU for rescuing a dog, especially a large breed as they are harder for the shelters to place. I'm happy she'll have a wonderful forever home! She'll get it eventually and you'll have a wonderful addition your family. Good Luck and keep us posted.

  14. I find the way this thing has taken off to be a remarkable thing. Sometimes, in today's world it's hard to find any goodness. Watch the news and it leaves you feeling dark and depressed. Spend a few minutes reading this thread and the posts on RIAB and it restores you faith in the human race. I remember reading Samm's story and have often wondered how she was doing. How wonderful to find out she is healthy and cancer free. Then to find out that she's taken the "give it back" path in life by wanting to help others.. this is so refreshing and just makes you feel good about life. Thanks Samm for highlighting that there is good in this world. Best of luck to you on your fundraiser, and in your future. I'm sure you will do great things.

That's a big plus to working for a company whose dress code includes jeans and concert t-shirts. No dry cleaning and no ironing. Ironing = throwing the wrinkled garment in the dryer for 10 minutes. I've also been known to use the hair dryer to blow out wrinkles in whatever shirt I have on, as I am drying my hair. You can do that?! Cool! One can always learn something new here on the Forum! Oh yes, this works.. for the more stubborn wrinkle give it a spritz with that wrinkle releaser spray stuff (it's kind of pricey, but I make my own with water and a touch of liquid fabric softener) Spritz and hair dryer = freshly pressed and sweet smelling clothes
  17. There is a good album in there somewhere. I just can't find it under all the mud and fuzz.
  18. Another vote for laundry. I sort them, take them downstairs, put em in the washer, then the dryer, then the basket, and it ends there. Now I have a bedroom full of baskets fully of wrinkly clothes. Then I take the wrinkly clothes downstairs and start over again. Why can the clothes just put themselves away? The only thing that comes close to laundry is taking the bag of garbage to the curb. I've lived in this house for sixteen years, and for sixteen years they pick up the garbage on Wednesday morning... but I still can never get that bag out there on the right day.
  19. QUOTE (Gompers @ Dec 6 2011, 08:01 AM) QUOTE (Imaginos @ Nov 1 2011, 12:58 PM) The new DeeExpus album "The King of 33" is sounding very promising... http://www.kingof33.com/the-king-of-33.htm Their Halfway Home release is very good too. I'm very much enjoying this band lately.
  20. Indoor mostly, because of better sound. I do like the atmosphere of an outdoor show in the summer, but only if I've got a ticketed seat under cover. The outdoor venue here in Pittsburgh has a covered portion near the stage, and the hill/grass part is open. It always feels that as soon as you are out from under the roof the sound goes away. It's never loud enough on the hill, but a great venue if you've got seats under the cover.

  22. Wow, what a difference from the 9 month pic and the one year pic. She is beautiful and you can really see a difference. So glad to hear she'd doing well and gaining pounds.. what a blessing you have!
  23. QUOTE (ReGorLaTroy @ Jan 29 2012, 10:21 PM) QUOTE (LaFellaStrangiato @ Jan 29 2012, 09:18 PM) Robin Zander Absolutely one the greatest voices in all of rock history...highly underrated. I'm not sure he's one of the best, but he is underrated, and he's one who has been able to maintain his voice over the years.
  24. Very sorry for your loss, it's a really hard decision to make. I've been there and also beat myself up about it for a long time. Always wondering what I could have done differently that might have made a difference. You did the best you could and made the best decisions that you could and you never stopped loving her. That's the best you can and did do for her. You loved her and gave her a loving and happy home and family. Again, sorry for your loss it's so very hard.
  25. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jan 24 2012, 06:15 PM) I forgot about that DVD. I'm picking it up for sure! As for deep cuts, some of my favorites are I'm Okay, Man In the Wilderness, Midnight Ride, Half Penny Two Penny, Shooz, Mademoiselle, and Borrowed Time. I also love Cyclorama. I saw the last half of the ice skating thing. It was extremely cheesy but the band was great. No secret, I've got that DVD on preorder. It was a very good show, wish I could have seen it more than once. A lot of good deep cuts mentioned in all of these posts, their catalog is much deeper than the casual listener is aware of. Castle Walls and Queen of Spades were very well done on this tour.
