  1. As I was doing my taxes I discovered I've paid $2,112 in principal on my mortgage last year.
  2. QUOTE (troutman @ Apr 3 2009, 10:14 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Apr 3 2009, 06:56 PM) This was my first love - Velvet the Weimaraner, a lovely and stately lady who walked around puddles.. http://i432.photobucket.com/albums/qq42/PacoPhotoShow/Misc/Velvet.jpg and my current love - Paco the Havanese, a clown who drops to the ground and rolls around in puddles http://i432.photobucket.com/albums/qq42/PacoPhotoShow/Paco/DSC00079-1-1.jpg very nice!! Why, thank you!
  3. I love this show, you can catch three or four episodes a day on USA, if you've got the time. I like Ziva's character much better than Kate, she seems to have a little more mystery around her. That Abbey, she cracks me up.
  4. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 5 2009, 06:18 PM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Apr 5 2009, 03:49 PM) Another Seth Rogen flick which I think is great is Zack and Miri Makes A Porno. I thought that was great too, and I'm not generally a Kevin Smith fan... I loved those first few Kevin Smith movies, but was let down with the Clerks II one.. I havent seen this one yet but haven't heard any good or bad about it. Is it in the spirit of his first few movies?

He looks like Bono in this shot. NO HE DOES NOT!!! Bite your freakin' tongue! Geddy is way cooler than Bono could ever dream of being. True That! Bono wishes he could be as cool as Ged.

  8. QUOTE (CygXanTor @ Mar 23 2009, 09:32 AM) QUOTE (MCM @ Mar 21 2009, 06:28 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Mar 21 2009, 11:48 AM)QUOTE (skyswing @ Mar 21 2009, 09:22 AM) I didn't see a thread about the show so I started one, especially for folks who followed the 2000s version pretty closely. I have mixed feelings about the way they ended it. Though it was interesting and character-driven, I still think it left a lot of things unresolved. But hey, but not everything ends neatly in life either. Any thoughts? Yeah, the ending was hugely unsatisfying. Spoiler - for those who haven't seen the final episode yet I was a little puzzled at the ending myself. It seemed to me that after all those people/cylons went thru together they would want to stay together to start over. Walking off into the sunset, flying off into the sunset, vanishing.. etc.. did they time travel to that planet? The only thing I was happy about is that Tori got what was coming to her, I hated her. The flashbacks gave some insight into the characters, but I also didn't see the point of some of them.. I had to watch the whole thing twice to really get it.. A lot of other series finale have been less satisfying, so I can't complain. I still think that it was pretty good t.v. and better than a lot of what is on t.v. right now. I'm sad it's over and I now have no Friday night shows. This pretty much says what I was thinking. *SPOILER* However, that second Earth thing confuses me. Was the first "Earth" not this Earth? It sure looked like it, I'm sure I saw Florida and the Gulf of Mexico in the last shot of the second season were they show where Starbuck had returned from. So, did jumping that far somehow cause a temporal displacement? I know, I sound like a Trekkie (which I am, btw)... Exactly, and if the first earth was the real earth, in their actual time, then are we as earth dwellers, actually the thirteenth tribe thus making us all cylons? I don't remember seeing the globe when Kara came back from "the dead", but I did see it in this episode and you could see north america.. or at least I was pretty sure I saw Florida.. I think it was either time travel or it's just to complicated for my pea brain.

  10. I thought I was one of the few that liked this show. I'm not a fan of the half hour comedy, and this is the only one I watch. Sheldon is a hoot! Also glad to see that I'm not the only one to think the episode on the train was a little lame.
  11. QUOTE (blonde77th @ Mar 8 2009, 12:34 PM) I hate doing the car clock lol I can never remember how so I always have to pull out the book That's why I never fix the car clock. I'd rather do the math, at one time I had to add one hour and 48 minutes just to know what time it was. Luckily the cable box and the cell phone fix themselves or I would never know what time it was.
  12. I'm very happy about this, now the clock in my car will be right again.
  13. Wow, the differences of opinion on this topic are really interesting.. and yes, most people I know would speak up and mention Ged first on this topic, pretty funny since he's one of my absolute favorites.. A few comments.. Someone mentioned Michael Sweet, the singer for Stryper - He's got a great voice, saw him this past summer and was very good. Cobain - I don't even call him a singer - hate everything about him. Klaus - he's got a great voice, love his work. Layne Staley - that voice takes some time, took a few listens but really liked Alice in Chains. Tom Petty - another unconventional voice like our beloved Ged. He's not for everybody, but I love him. He makes some of the best summertime/driving music! I really dislike Neil Young and Bob Dylan.. songwriters, not singers. Oh yeah, Jackyl - I remember them and their chain saw solo.. he wasn't the best. Those are my thoughts/opinions.
  14. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Feb 11 2009, 10:23 AM) Okay, all you young ones may not agree, but I've got a THING for David Gilmour... I've been listening to Floyd and also his solo stuff lately, and it's got me all hot and bothered... I love old pics of him - that 70's look was very sexy (YES, he had greasy hair, and I couldn't care less ), but I still find him EXTREMELY sexy now. Yes, he's losing his hair and he's gained weight, but c'mon...listen to him PLAY. OMG. *thud* http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/RushBabe/Dave/gilmour89.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/RushBabe/Dave/gilmour1.jpg I've got to agree with you on this one Ghost Girl, I've been listening to Floyd for eons, but only recently realized what cutie the young David Gilmore was.. good choice!
  15. like asking which child do you love more.. I'll take Sabbath, love those early years.
  16. QUOTE (CygXanTor @ Jan 18 2009, 12:06 PM) Finally! This show kills me, every answered question brings up a new mystery. I was sure that Laura Rosilyn was going to turn out to be the final Cylon, but I was wrong. I was a huge fan of the original series. Of course back then we only had 5 channels, and sci-fi on television was practically non-existant. Is anyone else here as into BSG as I am? I love this show, I think it's some of the best tv has to offer right now. Finally finding earth; and it's destroyed - didn't see that one coming. I'm hoping that teaser at the end was just that.. that's not who I saw the last cylon to be.
  17. QUOTE (HisCounterpart @ Jan 18 2009, 02:49 PM) A new addition to youtube. A nice little Geddy interview from the late 90s. You might have seen it before, but I haven't. Thought I'd share the link . Geddy is as magnificent as always NICE! thank you, he's so eloquent!
  18. I saw this movie today, thankfully it was a matinee and I only had to pay $6.00. I kept waiting for the storyline to start, it never did. I thought of Forest Gump more than once during the movie. It was very long and nothing really happened, maybe I'm dense, but I just didn't pick up on any real story or plot. I'm a chick, so I like chick flicks, this was not one of them.

It took me a full day to figure out if I preferred Cinderella Man over Working Man.. This one could take me until the end of the week. Don't blame me - I did most of these polls years ago and they got bumped! That means we'll know your answer during the weekend. ^-^ Is it my fault, Goober? Oh-oh... Hey, I'm enjoying all of these old threads since I've only been around her for just under a year I guess now the pressure is on and I'll have to make a decision on this before the weekend.. that gives me yet another excuse not to send out resumes.
  20. Gotta go with the '70's Geddy. I do think he looks great now, maybe better than he did then, but I'm a sucker for the skinny androgynous rocker.

  22. QUOTE (Arleen2112 @ Dec 22 2008, 12:49 PM) Tears Are Not Enough - Northern Lights Geddys part is at 2:12 OHHH!!! Thank you for reminding me of that, I'd forgotten all about that Canadian recording session. I'll now save that video!

You had to sit right in front of the stereo, waiting for them to announce the song, hold your tape player up to the speaker, and hit the play and record buttons at the same time, at the exact moment the song started to get it taped correctly. If I still had all of those old tapes they would contain great music with the first few seconds of every song missing and half of the next song or a commercial at the end. OMG how many times did we have to QUICK be ready with the 'play' and 'record' buttons, and wishing the stupid DJ would SHUT UP because you wanted the song - not some schmoe trailing into The Trees with '... bla bla on WYSL'..... always the tinny sound with the big 'chunk' at the end when you stopped - unless you were slick and had a 'pause' button or the tiny transistor radio with the long antenna.... or someone walking in to ask you about your homework while you were trying to record HAH!!! I forgot about the silence while recording rule... the phone would ring during the song and it would then be on the tape. Now I have to wait 8 more hours until they play it again so I can tape it without a ringing telephone in the middle of it. My cassette player with the microphone must not have had a pause button. You guys were even worse than we were! Holding a tape recorder up to your speakers? We had a boom box with FM/cassette; everything coming off the radio went directly onto the tape, with no room noise. (But yeah, I have used your methods, when desperate.) Not the best sound quality, eh? We weren't very slick with our edits, either. Who cared? The important thing was to get the song on tape, and then play it to death. That's the name of the game! I remember spending an entire Saturday at the park with a boom box, playing our pathetic cassette copy of "Distant Early Warning" over and over. Rewind, immediately play it again. How many times???? "Play it again, Gary!" Next album, I heard the new Rush song for the first time on the drive to school. (Gary had taped it off the radio the night before.) I'll tell you now: it was essentially just sounds and words going by... I had no idea what Geddy was saying! Still, it sounded great. After that first listen, Gary said the song was called "The Big Money," and then I thought, "Oh, okay. That's what Geddy keeps repeating through the whole song!" We'd sit in the car during lunch at school, or during breaks from our part-time jobs, just to hear it a few more times on the tape deck. Yes, the luxury of being able to tape from radio directly to the cassette deck. I did graduate to that type of radio pirating later. After my older brother got a new stereo and I inherited his old one. Now that was sophistication!!! It was about that same time that we got t.v. cable so you could put the t.v. cable into the back of the receiver and finally get a radio station clearly all the time. Before t.v. cable we could only get the Buffalo NY staion on clear cold nights.. Today's youth have it pretty good!

Oooppppsss.........they forgot to turn the mic off on that one....... But he sure looks like he's having a ball in that clip. Good thing he's a stellar guitarist. (who am I to say tho, I can't sing or play guitar)
