  1. QUOTE (sb2112 @ Sep 16 2012, 12:23 PM) I hope they do keep switching it up. It's so different for them and very exciting.
  2. QUOTE (FT Tracker @ Sep 14 2012, 06:56 AM) I also thought it to be a very good show. I know the new songs are all linked together in meaning, but playing them all together for people who have never heard the album I am not sure is a good idea. Its not moving pictures. It slows the crowd response. Maybe they should play them at the end of the first set. That's how I anticipated this show...start with a hit, follow up with a couple deeper tracks then launch into CA and finish a 6-7 song run with the Garden. 2nd set a tour de force of RUSH classics. 1 killer from nearly every album
  3. QUOTE (Snaked @ Sep 14 2012, 10:47 AM) Well over 80% are happy with the setlists if you look at the polls. So, your figures are off a bit. If you don't like what the band has chosen to play on this tour then just don't go. Nobody will miss you. If you look at the polls here...from a bunch us rush geeks that like just about anything they do on stage (like farting into a mic). then Guarantee if you poll everyone walking out of the arena after the show you'll get a lot of expressions. I personally love the setlist choices. great changes for the most part. The OP has a point tho
  4. I was mildly amused by the tropical feel they gave it last tour. Not interested in hearing that way again. Do love the song though. The solo Alex did at WPB stop of TMT was nothing short of amazing. The crowd was electric!
  5. Rush has a habit of starting at exactly 15 minutes past showtime in my experience
  6. Alex hands down... Id want to know if he uses charcoal or propane, does he like yellow or spicy mustard on a roast beef sandwich, id want to know when i could hook up with him at the Orbit Room and have a few drinks and just shoot the sh!t. Id ask him if he plays with steel or graphite shafts I'd let him know that I use charcoal and could whip him up a kick ass ribeye next saturday, he would have to bring the wine.
  7. QUOTE (marlinsfan @ Sep 10 2012, 08:05 AM) 95% of the time when I have the radio on, I'm listening to RUSH. My 2 kids (4.5 and 6.5 years old) ask for songs by name every time they get in car with me. Some of their favorites: Passage to Bangkok (my train crazy kids all it Train Going to Bangkok), Closer to the Heart, Cindirella Man, Xanadu, The Garden. My older one (the boy) does not like it loud, but my younger daughter keeps saying LOUDER every time we are alone in the car. I have a kick-ass stereo in my car (any other way to listen to the boys?!?). I have tickets to go with friends to the NJ show on 10/20, and ever since my kids found out, my daughter has said she wants to go. I've talked to the wife about me taking my little girl to the 10/22 in Brooklyn, and she has not said no.... Now, is she too young? I have seen plenty of kids at shows in recent years, but none as young as my little girl. I'm sure she wouldn't last the entire show (her betdtime is 8 pm), so it would kill me to leave the show early, but I'm willing to do it. I also know it will be a battle to put earplugs in her ears. I should also mention, driving to Brooklyn is at least 1:20 minutes from my house. What do you all think? too young... I too brought my kids to a show at young ages and as much as they enjoy what daddy likes, they are too short to see the music is too loud they get bored (can your kids do ANYTHING for 3 hours now) and its way too late for them to be out (at least it was for mine) my $.02
  8. QUOTE (tullfan @ Sep 9 2012, 06:23 PM) Rush gives their 70s fans a middle finger on the CA Tour. With ticket prices averaging $100.00 + this is what they do ? By what I can tell on this forum many of you are younger and have no problem with this, but you know what, Rush became popular during the 70s. Us older fans went to their shows, bought their albums, t shirts and tour books. Had a great time. This all came to a head when Moving Pictures came out and Rush was king. Record sales through the roof. All was well in Rushworld. Signals came out and was great and then they get the bright idea to not use Terry Brown and start dropping their epicness for a bunch of lame 80s records and set list that started the trend of completely ignoring their past along with a segment of their fan base, you know, the ones they gained their popularity on. It's very insulting to do this to the fans that got them there, but apparently there are other generations after who seem to love their post 1985 stuff. That's fine, I just think that Rush could put aside 45 minutes in their set list to please the older fans. After all that is the least they could do and they #!#@%ing know it. Instead they take the "This is what we are going to do and we can care less about the fans" attitude. O.K. fine. I give up. I will not be going to this show. The first Rush tour I will miss since the Hemispheres Tour. I was a diehard and they threw fans like me under the bus. I'm sick of it !!!!!!!!!!! Must be nice making tons of money playing a bunch of songs some of us don't want to hear, oh and by the way, make sure no one steals your t-shirt money Rush because you don't make any on the concert ticket. Give me a #$@%ing break. I too am an old guy that first listened to RUSH in middle school, which had to be 1976-77. I loved the early blues-based stuff and everything after that. I would love to see By-Tor and Hemispheres and all the great old stuff, that's what I was praying for on this tour. But as the setlist unfolded I was literally giddy during the first set (except for Far Cry AGAIN). Those 80's tunes have grown on me over the years and although they were pretty synth heavy, in my mind they actually possess some of the tightest bass by Ged and incredible drum arrangements. HYF being the highlight of this period to me. ANyway, the setlist is never perfect for me either, but I am so happy to be a fan and one of the 'in crowd' that still follows them. Of course CA is amazing and their best since HYF or MP/PW for that matter. Can't wait to see them!
  9. QUOTE (Middle Kingdom @ Sep 8 2012, 08:45 AM) Getting home his wife sees the suit and asks what happens. He says "this guy threw up on my suit and gave me $20 to get it cleaned". The wife says "that's great, but there's $40 here." And the guy says "Oh the other $20 is from the guy that pooped in my pants". that joke is from Eli's Dirty Jokes on Youtube. Classic. I tell it all the time.
  10. I love the setlist...nothing like i expected, but very happy. There's a few songs i dont like and this one has fewer than the last few tours. Very, very, very disappointed that Losing It did not make it. Cant wait for Nov 3!
  11. QUOTE (The Owl @ Sep 7 2012, 09:37 PM) Not complaining about the setlist....but Touring with a string section and not playing "Losing It" = BIGGEST MISSED OPPORTUNITY EVER!
