  1. One thing that really bugs me is when people are trying to have conversations, talking loudly over the music. I saw Tool last year, and I was in the nosebleeds, and everyone around me is chatting the breeze, while I'm trying to listen to my favorite song (Pushit) live.
  2. Bravado is definitely one of my favorites. It was pivotal in getting me through some rough times. The R30 version is quite good, but when I finally got to see it live at the show I attended on the 2013 leg of the CA tour, it was taken to a whole new level. It put me in a trance basically :P
  3. Rush Tori Amos A Perfect Circle Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd Puscifer Garbage Tool The Cranberries Alanis Morissette Honorable mentions: Thirty Seconds to Mars Paramore Aerosmith Kiss Tegan and Sara Heart
  4. Jonesy is the better keyboard player, but as an overall bassist, gotta go with Ged. But man, JPJ is my second favorite bassist behind Geddy. I watched Celebration Day on Christmas and I sat there for two hours with my eyes open wide and my jaw on the floor. Such a shame they've (*cough* Robert *cough*) declined to tour one last time, but that's a whole other can of worms.
  5. I think, regardless of how many songs they get, "YYZ" should be played. It's commercial enough where people will know it, and it's technical enough to show just why they deserve to be in there.
  6. I find them to be the worst they've ever done. The Gah-nomes were the biggest culprit. Not funny at all.The first set intro video is tolerable. It was gonna be hard to top I Still Love You Man anyway, but jeez.
  7. What makes more sense to me would be ending the first set with Limelight, bumping out Far Cry.
  8. 1.Time So glad to see this one on so many lists. I'll never forget the first time I heard it. The clocks came on and I was like "whoa...". And the lead in that song is one of my all time favs. 2. In The Flesh The harmonizing guitar riffs are gorgeous. 3. Sheep Prog rock genius. The climactic ending

QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Sep 23 2012, 10:29 AM) QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 22 2012, 04:24 PM) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Sep 22 2012, 04:11 PM) QUOTE (HemispheresserehpsimeH @ Sep 22 2012, 12:24 PM) I don't know why anyone would be surprised at Plant not singing like he used to. He blew his voice out in the 70s. It's 2012. I think the fact that he can even attempt to sing these songs (with limitations) is impressive. He could try to just belt out Black Dog and it would be an absolute mess. I'm glad he adjusts to his comfort level and still sings it with feeling. This is a good point too. A proper singer, like Elton John, knows his limitations and adjusts his vocals accordingly. Almost no one over the age of 60 sings as good as they did at 30. Very few exceptions to this, if any. Most are lucky if they only lose a step or two. Glenn Hughes comes to mind as a pretty resilient "golden throat", and Ronnie James Dio still had a very, very apt voice as well. They are out there, but they're pretty rare. While not quite that age and a bit of a different sub-genre, freakin' Tommy Shaw of Styx still has some impressive pipes. Just some credit where it's due. Tommy Shaw still kicks butt vocally. Most folks here don't like them, but Don Henley of The Eagles hasn't lost one iota of his vocal ability and dude's 65 years old. Robin Zander

QUOTE (metaldad @ Sep 13 2012, 12:42 PM) QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Sep 11 2012, 03:41 PM) Robert Plant had no interest, but when he finally listened he pronounced it the best show since 1975. It could be good stuff. Plant is a cranky old fu*k that can't sing like he used to . They will make a shitload of money 1 last time and that is why he gave his "ok" to release it . Page, Jones and jr should find a singer and go on tour with a diff name , i would be there in a min THIS. I remember when they were toying with the idea of using Steven Tyler or Myles Kennedy. Personally, I think Ann Wilson would be the best choice, but that's just a pipe dream
  11. I was hoping they'd drop it, but eh, the breakdown in the song rips, so why not.
  12. That actually sounds like a good idea. Early in the tour, same venue, get both setlists, in their country (YYZ for that matter), ect.
  13. Things could be better, but things could be much worse. Analog Kid was the song I wanted to hear most and they're playing it. Middletown Dreams was my second most wanted song, and if things stay consistent, I'll be getting it at my show. Though, the many offerings from PoW confuse me, especially with the B setlist playing three in a row, and four in the same set. A little more variety would be nice. Otherwise, it's a pretty killer set. Glad I'll finally get to hear Grand Finale. What a great way to end a show
  14. This doesn't bother me in the slightest. And since it's been this way with them for so long, I can't actually imagine them doing it. It would seem odd or almost comical, naw'mean?

QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Aug 15 2012, 05:54 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 14 2012, 10:01 PM) QUOTE (Brava Doh! @ Aug 14 2012, 06:30 PM) If they liked the remaster of Mission that came out a while back, that version is made to do live with a string section...if they remember doing it like that, and like it. Mission would sound really good with strings! mission with strings? wow they'd be spoiling us. that's a definite pee break. Alex's solo tho..... One of my favs of his.
  16. QUOTE (SUBDIVISIONS @ Aug 16 2012, 01:53 PM)B.S. Geddy is awesome He still amazing His great Voice performance is one of the most shocking vivid things I have from the Time machine tour. Just listen to any Rush cover band and You Will recognize how beauty and pure still Geddys voice. No one can closely imitate it. You didnt like it? No Problem Just F. Off this site It was intended for fans http://anongallery.org/img/8/5/you-seem-upset.jpg
  17. I went with no, but I wouldn't mind it I guess. The music is killer, but it's hard to listen to those lyrics. "Here we go, in slow-mo"
  18. I like to think this is somewhat realistic 1. Far Cry 2. The Analog Kid 3. Earthshine 4. Clockwork Angels 5. The Wreckers 6. Seven Cities of Gold 7. YYZ 8. Time and Motion 9. Carnies 10. Jacob's Ladder 11. Tom Sawyer 12. Caravan 13. Headlong Flight / Bastille Day outro 14. The Anarchist 15. Bravado 16. Middletown Dreams 17. The Weapon 18. Armor and Sword 19. Drum Solo 20. Alex acoustic piece 21. BU2B2 22. BU2B (sans the acoustic intro, since BU2B2 sort of acts as it's intro) 23. The Spirit of Radio 24. Limelight 25. A Farewell to Kings 26. The Garden 27. Subdivisions
  19. I don't see this happening. Caravan and BU2B not being featured on the official tour of the album they're on? As for Moving Pictures, TS, Limelight, and YYZ are pretty much a given. Anything else on there has a fair shot, but I just don't think they will. My vote would go to Vital Signs if they do though.
  20. I actually thought it would be cool to have BU2B2 as an intro (from the CD, not them actually playing it), but such a dark song might sound weird after the opening derp video.
  21. I listened to it today for the first time in the car during a drive from Tampa to Kissimmee and it was almost exactly the duration of the trip. What a truly amazing album. I didn't feel any song was particularly weak, and it all flowed so nicely together. It's so amazing to think they can STILL make music this great after 40 years. A career highlight for sure~
