  1. QUOTE (Janie @ Dec 11 2008, 10:19 AM) You know I saved the best for last. You know which picture I'm talking about! http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/oo228/LifesonPics/2506AA.jpg You can see his cock and balls quite distinctly here
  2. QUOTE (edgyspice @ May 19 2008, 10:30 PM) Oh, I get it. You're Bill O'Reilly. Tell me, Bill-- how does this picture make you feel? http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e397/edgyspice/YoungHotAlex.jpg Don't hold back, now. I hate Bill O'Reilly- Now I'm offended!! Yes, that's the young hot Alex Lifeson. My biggest idol in the circum-1980 period. Will someone please tell me who the semi-famous drummer is that Neil scorned in this thread? Thanks. And I won't continue my rant against NP anymore.
  3. I'm tempted to spit on him if I ever we cross paths, but I won't because of the contributions he made up to the late 80's. Neil really ought to move to France, join a nouveau elitist French socialist subculture that meets in cafes where they nibble on french bread and Tomme' vert cheese, sipping bordeaux wine, smoking their Gitanes cigarettes while venomously criticising and trivializing everything that isn't in their shitty little circle. That's how I envision Neil Peart & his mentality.
  4. QUOTE (Marathonist @ May 19 2008, 08:01 AM)QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ May 18 2008, 11:13 PM) QUOTE (edgyspice @ May 15 2008, 11:29 AM) Swell, another "Neil is a dick" thread. These NEVER get old! Neil is the reason I will never purchase anything that he or Rush profits from. Neil wouldn't have made his successes without his fans. He does owe fans some sort of acknowledgment when they greet him, even if its just a nice gesture like a wink or nod. He's damned lucky that John Rutsey (RIP) departed the band when he did, otherwise he'd still be driving around that piece of shit with his drumkit in the trunk. I don't understand why so many people think that Neil (and the other 2 members of Rush, for that matter) "owes all of his successes to his fans" and "we made them what they are." We did not. They've worked their asses off to produce a catalogue of work that is true to them. There happens to be a significant number of people to whom their music, and Neil's drumming, appeals. We CHOOSE to buy the work because we LIKE it. The band makes something that we, the fans, want, and in turn we give them money for copies of their work. It is the same with any other "leisure" or "entertainment" product. No one NEEDS a PS3 or an X-Box, or a Wii. The manufacturers came up with a product, put it on the market, and enough people found it compelling enough to make the manufacturers wealthy. Granted, there are exceptions to this . . . some "artists" have profited not so much from hard work and talent as from brilliant marketing campaigns. But they generally burn out pretty quickly. And Rush have never been very forwardly marketed, which impresses me all the more. On the flip side, when a band fails to make it commercially, no one accuses the music-buying public of "destroying" them and causing them to be big failures. Well, if they all lived on an undiscovered, remote island and busted their asses to make great music, where would they be then? On that same island climbing coconut trees looking for dinner. And another thing- There is an astounding and countless number of "commoners" (as Neil would have it) that have helped Rush and Neil get where they are in the world. In fact they would have never made it without the help of "nonessentials" since the beginning of Rush. If Neil's smart enough, he'll realize this and be nice to the happy, admiring fans that think the world of him. I, too, was once an introverted, snobby person who didn't want to deal with anyone, but it dawned on me one day that life's too short to be shitty to people and I shouldn't take myself too seriously . As individuals, we are all of the same, but we grew up in wildly different circumstances and varying (or no) amounts of "luck" along the way.

  8. QUOTE (MacBob @ Apr 14 2008, 01:52 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 14 2008, 10:56 AM) Dum-dums... I have never made an assumption here. "I know of many people who did this (and would NEVER admit to it). I am not speaking for myself since I was a kid" Your words, not mine or anyone elses. Since no one ever admitted this to you this is an assumption. The others are right though, keep going, this is comedy gold. Its still not an assumption you silly pseudo-intellect.
  9. Dum-dums... I have never made an assumption here.
  10. Bob- Your logic has failed you again...and you look foolish despite your effort to look otherwise. Don't make assumptions about other's personal life experiences otherwise you risk looking less than intelligent.
  11. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Apr 8 2008, 12:23 PM) We know which way Neils fence swings...He says so in Nobody's Hero. "I went to his party as a straight minority". So, there you have it. Maybe he is reformed. A lot of people who did the bisexual thing in the drug-infested disco/glam age have reverted back to being straight. I know of many people who did this (and would NEVER admit to it). I am not speaking for myself since I was a kid during those times
  12. How mind-numbing is it to have to read stuff like "I had a dream about Alex's toilet" or "I named my baby after Geddy's puppy"?
  13. QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Apr 7 2008, 04:22 PM) BTW - Worst. Thread. Ever. http://www.squishedfrog.com/images/comicbookguy.gif How so? Because it doesn't fall within the norm of what the average Rush fan asks?
  14. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Apr 4 2008, 04:18 PM) Gemini...seriously dude. You've got to stop reading so much Penthouse Forum. The last time I read the Penthouse forum was probably 1980! And those of you who are quick to judge and label me a closet homosexual, lighten up and relax a little. Sexual humor never hurt anyone other than those overprotective of their sexuality.
  15. QUOTE (PariahDog @ Apr 4 2008, 03:57 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Feb 27 2008, 06:02 PM)Alex: So fat that he's changed the shape of his face...man, this guy used to be so angelic looking, now he looks like an angry redneck country-music singer. Neil: Ageing quite badly in the face, plus a real piss-poor attitude Ged: He's holding his age pretty well but never was quite the looker. GeminiRising, I think you would still jump at the chance to do any one of them. Gemini isn't the only thing Rising when you look at the back cover of 2112. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v337/makalu/toss-off_smiley.gif Back in the day I would have gone for a nonhomosexual 2-guy-1-girl threesome with ease. Imagine tag-teaming a hot 18 year-old groupie with your guitar-God hero (Alex in this case). Those would surely make for some epic memories! I'd be singing: Sweet memories I never thought it would be like this Reminding me Just how close I came to missing I know that This is the way for me to go You'll be there When you know what I know and I know! (no homo)
  16. QUOTE (apetersvt @ Apr 4 2008, 02:02 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 4 2008, 12:39 PM) QUOTE (MacBob @ Apr 3 2008, 10:22 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 2 2008, 06:28 PM) Since bisexuality was in vogue back when Rush was popular in the 70's, does anyone think that there were/was a sexual relationship between any of the boys? Alex sure looked like a fairy princess at some points along the way, as well as Geddy. For the record, I am not gay nor do I have any homoerotic fantasies. Please don't flame for this is a legitimate question. Thanks. Ehh, what 70s was this? The 1870s? Outside of Bowie and the androgyny scene surrounding early glam bands I would hardly call it a trend. It doesn't really matter one way or the other, but having been there I would hardly call it some kind of fad that people jumped on. Sadly in most of North America any hint of being anything but straight would buy you a free ass kicking (at the minimum). I'm going to have to agree, this might be the worst thread ever, but I'll still contribute because I am part of the problem on occasion. Without even thinking about it I can name two artists who had their careers ended because the sexuality was questioned, Peter Frampton (for appearing with the BeeGees in the Sgt. Pepper movie) and Billy Squire (for frolicking in pink silk sheets in his Rock Me Tonight video). Rod Stewart's career took a nose dive after the legendary "stomach pumping" rumor and only made a come back as a crooner appealing to soccer moms and grandparents. Sadly I know a couple people who sold all their Queen and Judas Priest stuff when their respective front men came out as gay. There wasn't anywhere near the public tolerance for gay or bi-sexual behavior in the 70s that there is now. It is far from a perfect world, but there is a lot more tolerance, or at least a lot less overt hatred, than there was back in the 70s. This doesn't make it right, but it is the way it was. Come to think of it, this question would stand up far better if we were talking about 80s pop with Boy George, that dude from Dead or Alive, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the now out Michael Stipe, etc... There still wasn't a ton of tolerance, but androgyny and 80s pop go together like Bowie and Jagger... The greater point to focus on, as a couple others in this thread have mentioned, is that it is an irrelevant question. I'm a fan of the music and don't much care what artist do in their personal lives. Deliver me good albums and solid live performances and I will pay you, contract fulfilled. Interesting stuff. Elton was pretty flamboyant back in the 70's and destroyed everyone in terms of sales and popularity. There was no doubt he was a flamer. Whether my question is relevant or not in the vast scheme of things, I couldn't care less. This thread reflects my personal question of interest. There are some people who will want to know which fingers/which hand/at what angle does geddy scratch his nutsack with, but that is their personal interest and I think its perfectly fine if someone wants to know. Screw what the consensus thinks. Screw what the consensus thinks? Other than the fact that repeated comments such as you are describing can be offensive and deemed as sexual harassment. It's very difficult to offend me, but others might be. Sexual harrassment? Where did you extract that figment?
  17. Well, I'm sure its not impossible under certain specific circumstances.

  19. Sean Connery: "whats the difference between Alex Trebec and a mallard with a cold?" Alex Trebec: "I don't know" Sean Connery: "one is a sick duck and I dont remember the rest but your mother is a whore." This is hilarious. Where's it from?
  20. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Apr 3 2008, 02:01 PM)Funny. I always thought Rush fans were a little bit different--A little smarter. This is just GARBAGE. It's not funny, it's just sad. Most Rush fans are no different than the typical, pathetic Star Trek fan. I'm sure the Rush boys have had a few laughs with each other about some of you guys. I've seen some of the RushCon video musical performances and they raise the hair on the back of my neck...Computer-nerd looking miscreants destroying perfectly good Rush songs while ridiculous jerk-offs in the audience sit around air-drumming. Some of the most sickening and funny things I have ever seen. So yes, I am different.
  21. QUOTE (Janie @ Apr 3 2008, 09:21 AM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 2 2008, 09:28 PM) Its funny you bring up Alex here, because I just remembered something about him that I thought was very peculiar. Back in '81... It occurred to me that Alex might be bisexual... So there you go, maybe he has tendencies, who knows, but it was kind of creepy seeing Alex check my friend out in this fashion. So it's a free-for-all with Alex? Maybe he's just really, really, really horny. Did your friend flirt back? I mean, seriously, the chance of a lifetime. Early 80s, rock star, drugs. Life is about experiences my friend. LMAO
  22. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Apr 2 2008, 11:10 PM) QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Apr 2 2008, 10:40 PM)Silly homophobes. No one said anything remotely homophobic in this thread. Sorry if I find it amusing that you've made 43 posts and 2 of those are topics you've started about Rush and gay sex. Sorry though, I'll let you get back to your Geddy fantasies in peace. They didn't say it but they reacted pretty strongly to the idea their idol may be bisexual.
  23. Its funny you bring up Alex here, because I just remembered something about him that I thought was very peculiar. Back in '81, I went to the Capital Centre in Largo, MD to see the Moving Pictures tour with a bunch of friends. We saw the first show (of two) and then showed up the next morning to see if we could get lucky and see/meet any members of Rush. Well, lo and behold, here comes Alex with his RC airplane, walking toward the larger part of the parking lot. I, as well as my friends were in shock because we really didn't think we would get much of a glimpse of any of them. So Alex goes about flying his airplane around and pretty quickly it ends up in a tree (a mighty oak?). Some fan decided to go climb the tree to retrieve it. While he was doing so, Alex was talking to his friend and watching the guy climb the big tree. I, like any other infatuated teenage fan would do, just stared in awe of Alex. I had never ever been this close to a real rock star. I had only seen Alex, prior, on the albums and magazines, so I was completely awestruck--I'm sure many of you may relate to this. I really couldn't believe I was actually standing 5 feet from him. I wanted to observe every thing about him, since I was so impressed by him. One of my friends was standing with me during this time--A really good looking kid who was an amazing guitar player. I noticed that Alex kept staring at him in the face. It was no coincidence because I was observing everything Alex was doing. It was pretty bizarre seeing Alex staring at my friend like he was. He couldn't keep his eyes off him. It then occurred to me that Alex might be bisexual (especially since I was pretty confused the first time I saw him looking like tinkerbell in one of the Rush album covers that I owned...I had thought at the time:"My God, not Alex!"). So there you go, maybe he has tendencies, who knows, but it was kind of creepy seeing Alex check my friend out in this fashion.
