  1. I wanted to update everyone on Sam's progress. As of 9:30 PM EST, Sam's donations stand at $1,433.00. Way more than she ever thought she would get. She started out hoping for a couple hundred dollars and ended up having to change her goal amount 3 times because she kept surpassing it. I talked to Sam a little while ago after she got off work. She is emotionally drained. She is so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. So am I. The support Rush fans have shown is truly awesome. Rush fans generosity have made her one of the top fundraisers in UGA Miracle. There are still a couple weeks left in the fundraising year. Wouldn't it be great if Rush fans were responsible for making her the top fundraiser in UGA Miracle! So, if you would still like to donate, please do. It would be great at their 24 hr Dance Marathon, which is their last and biggest event of the year the first weekend in March, Rush Fans were responsible for the largest donation! Please give if you can. RUSH ON!! John Dyar
  2. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Feb 15 2012, 01:06 PM) QUOTE (Samm'sTestforEcho @ Feb 15 2012, 10:56 AM) Just please remember, it's all FTK...all for the kids. AFTK... All For The Kids or... A Farewell To Kings Good catch! Sam's fundraising efforts has also been picked up by "Rush Is A Band". Someone made a comment there about making donations in the amount of $21.12 which I thought was a very cool idea! Of course, larger donations are fine too! Thanks again to everyone. Once again, fans are the best! John Dyar
  3. QUOTE (Samm'sTestforEcho @ Feb 15 2012, 10:56 AM) Hi everyone, SO, it has gotten around UGA Miracle that my total has shot up so quickly due to this mysterious force known as TRF. I have been telling anyone who will listen about how much support I have gotten from the people on TRF and everyone I know is amazed as well as grateful. Today, my exec has put a new challenge to me...to see if I can raise $1,000 dollars. I learned today that $1,000 dollars will pay for 4 hours of out patient chemotherapy at Children's. I also learned that it take $1,000,000 a day to open the doors of this non-profit children's hospital. It also takes, on average, $20,000 to save one child's life. Last year UGA Miracle raised $220,000 and this year our goal is $300,000. This is a big challenge and everyone has been helping me raise so much money...i am still overwhelmed by it all. This will be the last time my total is raised. This is the final goal. I appreciate everything everyone has done and hate to keep begging for money. I know how hard the economy is and I know how hard it is to give when you can't really see the outcome of what you are donating too. I can though. It was my life that needed saving not to long ago. it was my life on the line and organizations like UGA Miracle that go ABOVE and BEYOND the call of duty are the reason that I live today. It is the reason so many of our Miracle families get to celebrate birthdays and holidays with their children and with complete families. It is the reason that more children are surviving life threatening illnesses and accidents. This is HUGE. This is bigger than me and bigger than my total. There is a bigger picture to all of this. I ask you to share this with your friends, family, co-workers and anyone who will listen to see if we can make this happen. I already plan to formally recognize TRF as a donor at our annual 24 hour dance marathon on March 3rd when we announce who helped us raise our totals. Thank you so much. This means the world to not only me, but also thousands of kids who are currently being treated at the hospitals or have been treated at the hospitals. Just please remember, it's all FTK...all for the kids. Peace, Love, and Samm
  4. I have talked to Sam a couple of times today and she is overwhelmed with the support the TRF has shown her. The UGA Miracle executive committee is also very happy and thankful. They always want their members to work hard raising money so after they seen that she had reached her goal, they raised it to $500.00! She would be thrilled if she met her new goal. If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Remember, UGA Miracle supports Children's Health Care of Atlanta, a non profit hospital. The same hospital that helped her win her bout with cancer. Also, all donations are tax deductible. Thanks to everyone that has helped so far. It means so much to Sam. John Dyar
  5. QUOTE (Samm'sTestforEcho @ Feb 13 2012, 11:17 AM) Hi everyone, This is Samm, the girl to whom you are donating. I decided to investigate when I woke up this morning and saw 4 emails saying someone has donated to my cause. Of course, it was RUSH fans. It was my wonderful, amazing, extremely extensive RUSH family supporting me as you always have. I just wanted to take a moment to let you know what this means to me and the cause which you are donating your money. All donations go to children's healthcare of atlanta. CHOA is a network of hospitals in Atlanta, GA and have impacted millions of children around the world. They saved my life when I was battling cancer almost five years ago now. Without the hospitals, I would not be here. I would not have met RUSH and got to have all the amazing opportunities I have had. UGA Miracle is more than an organization to me, it is my passion. When I saw that my total went from 0 to $210, I sat in out student's center and cried. I was overjoyed and touched by the kindness of strangers. Thank you so much. all donations go straight to the hospital. Our 24 hour Dance Marathon on March 3-4th. If you have anymore questions, please email me at samanthadyar@yahoo.com. I'd love to answer any questions or just chat. Thank you so much. Really. peace, love, and Samm Dyar International Affairs/Political Science School of Public and International Affairs The University of Georgia 2014 Well said Sam. No wonder I am so proud of you! I always told you that RUSH fans are the best. Of course, you already knew that! Thanks to Presto A Rush Fan and everyone who has donated so far. I am humbled once again by the love and generosity shown by the RUSH family. Only $40.00 to go to reach her goal! Any help anyone can give would be great. The hospital the donations go to is completely non-profit. Please help Sam help the hospital that saved my daughters life. With heart felt thanks, John Dyar
  6. QUOTE (Presto-a RUSH fan! @ Feb 12 2012, 06:54 PM) QUOTE (johndyar @ Feb 12 2012, 07:49 PM) I really like Vapor Trails, especially Ceiling Unlimited. The production of the album just makes it very hard to listen to. WOW....How is there not thread on your signature picture and the story that goes with it? Maybe there is, if so, please direct me to it. It is from my daughter's Make-A-Wish. There is a link to more pictures above the one in my signature. Here is a link to her story that she submitted to Rush Is A Band. Sam's Story

  8. QUOTE (HowItIs @ Sep 5 2011, 11:32 PM) Blasphemer! Sacrilege! /snark Agreed! I LOVE Second Nature. One of my favorite Rush songs! HYF is incomplete without it!
  9. Mine was 5 (or 6) when she saw her first Rush show (and yes,she asked to go). She is 19 now and has around 12 Rush shows under belt. We have a lot of great memories seeing Rush as well as other bands. She started out on the Grateful Dead when she was 4.
  10. My wife and I went there in 96 or 97. I think it was in St. Catharines. I got pictures someplace. Got a small bottle of sand and rode the carousel.
  11. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Jul 17 2011, 02:12 PM) You know, why don't they just play CP in full next tour? Great idea! That would mean that I would get to hear Everyday Glory live! LOVE that song!

I heard Working Man when they first started playing it in 1974. Seen them for the first time later that year at the Cleveland Agora. Been hooked ever since!! Holy crap! I don't want to go off topic, but I just saw your signature, and I see Neil in the picture. I didn't know he took part in the meet and greets thing, even if it was seldom. I thought he stood clear of those all the time. That's amazing. Please excuse the digress, everyone. He does do them for Make A Wish or similar groups. Note the other thing in that sig When my daughter made her wish, she told the MAW people that meeting Neil was an important part of her wish. He was very gracious and made her feel very special (as did the rest of the band and crew). It was a very special day for her. The MAW people told us that she was Rush's first (and only I think) Make-A-Wish kid. Sorry to digress.

  18. QUOTE (Mara @ Nov 29 2010, 07:09 PM) Well. . .color me torn. Greensboro is do-able. I'm not a big road-tripper but it isn't an AWFUL drive by any means. On the plus side it's indoors. I really do prefer the indoor venues, as the light show is so much cooler. Another fear is that Rush will add Atlanta later, in midsummer when the heat and humidity suck rocks. Yes, I saw S&A 2008 outside in July but we got a rare streak of unseasonably pleasant temps. So I looked at the calendar, figuring if April 1 is midweek then it's a no-go; there's work to consider. But lo and behold, it's a Friday night! Help me, guys. I'm way overthinking this, I know. How about Nashville on Sunday April 3rd Mara?
  19. Nashville on a Sunday!! 3 hours from home!
  20. I hope they come to Nashville. It's been a while.
  21. The only MFSL I have is Moving Pictures. I got it when it first was released. A GREAT sounding CD.
