  1. Same here. Walking around downtown before the show was weird:closed restaurants, nobody there. It seemed like the only people in town had on Rush shirts, and like you said, we were all out-of-towners.
  2. Depending on the venue, it can be great. My first show was in Dallas on row 20, Geddy's side, and it was spectacular (even with the first show bias aside). At the risk of sounding extremely callous, it was also behind a handicap-accessible row, so we didn't... yeah...
  3. Discovered that Wayne's World is on Netflix. So much for the work I meant to do tonight. Excellent.
  4. Hey guys! Haven't been around much lately, but since I'm sick today, thought I'd catch back up on the boards! Anyway, got to meet Coheed last week: http://i.imgur.com/3RswEcbl.jpg?1
  5. Jimmy Buffett on Saturday. Can't wait to get the tailgate set up!
  6. I really enjoy a lot of the Texas music scene. I guess for an equivalency, let's put Cody Canada & The Departed and Mastodon on the same level of enjoyment.
  7. This Thanksgiving week off is pretty spectacular. Getting to enjoy some actual time at home enjoying my new place!
  8. Which TRF member will be the first to use this on his/her spouse/significant other? Science must know.
  9. I won this in a raffle at my favorite bar: http://i.imgur.com/GYqE4M7l.jpg
  10. One of the guys responsible uploaded a video: BRB, dust in eye
  11. Below is the story told through screenshots of an online forum and Twitter: http://www.aggienetwork.com/theassociation/ticketsforshannon.aspx The short version: a friend whose best friend's wife (Shannon, class of 2001) is suffering from an inoperable, terminal cancer posted on an Aggie forum asking about a good bar or tailgate to watch A&M/Bama in College Station. She wanted to experience the gameday atmosphere in College Station one more time. Well, these good anonymous Ags surpassed that and got enough money to get tickets into the game, which were extremely difficult to find, especially given the necessary health considerations. They didn't stop there, though, and raised over $12,000, got sideline passes donated, and some other awesome stuff. Shannon had no idea anything was happening except that they were coming down for a tailgate. You can see her reaction: Proud to be an Aggie. Matt '11
  12. New country is too broad a stroke to paint with. New, poppy-Nashville country, yeah- eff that. But there are some fantastic country folks putting out music in Texas these days. See: Cody Canada & The Departed, Reckless Kelly, The Trishas, etc.
  13. You're awesome. You're all awesome. LIES!!! Remember, Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it
  14. It's not just the minors. The rays have a Star Wars night every season. That's awesome. I bet those lend themselves to some fun stuff between innings!
  15. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/star-wars-promotions-bring-the-force-to-the-ballpark/ http://cdn.baseballamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/jerseys-900635-300x211.jpeg Star Wars nights in minor league baseball? Really wish there was a promotion night at the SA Missions games if only to watch all the dressed-up people get scared when a foul ball comes their way... like ewoks.
  16. I think I've done quite a bit of traveling stateside and abroad...NYC wouldn't crack my top 20 Unfriendliest...or Friendliest. We used to go into the City quite a bit on our off-days, and I got the same vibe... Great place to go largely unnoticed. Back down here, though, it seems like the whole community is watching. San Antonio is weird like that; 1.4 million people (something like that), but it has a small town dynamic in a lot of ways. Everyone seems to know everyone.
  17. I rarely listen to his music on my own anymore, but always enjoy it when a bar band plays one of his tunes well!
  18. It really is another planet... only 6% of Canadian samsquanches own a passport. So I hear.
  19. It's like the best girlfriend in the world- never leaves you, cooks amazing meals, lifts your spirits when you're down. No matter When you need her, she's there. But you can still bang other people.
  20. I'd like to add "found this gem..." to the list. I've never seen a single gem following one of those links.
  21. It's the 44th anniversary of the landing of the Eagle, and it's Saturday. This means a full day of Apollo 13, From The Earth To The Moon, and the Discovery Channel series When We Left Earth! S'go!!!
