  2. Owen on his journey to the Seven Cities of Gold............. Mission Hold your (cold) Fire......................... Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire Focused high on soaring ambitions Consumed in a single desire In the grip of a nameless possession- A slave to the drive of obsession- A spirit with a vision Is a dream with a mission... I watch their images flicker Bringing light to a lifeless screen I walk through their beautiful buildings And I wish I had their dreams But dreams don't need to have motion To keep their spark alive Obsession has to have action- Pride turns on the drive It's cold comfort To the ones without it To know how they struggled- How they suffered about it If their lives were exotic and strange They would likely have gladly exchanged them For something a little more plain Maybe something a little more sane We each pay a fabulous price For our visions of paradise But a spirit with a vision Is a dream with a mission...
  3. Wheels can take you around Wheels can cut you down We can go from boom to bust From dreams to a bowl of dust We can fall from rockets' red glare Down to "Brother can you spare..." (.........okay I cheated a bit.....sister's) Another war Another wasteland And another lost generation

  5. Yeah...frickin awesome show last night......one highlight for me was SCOG with the orchestra jamming the guitar stanza...............we got moved from nose bleed phouse to behind soundboard, the to side of stage by Alex! (A friend is as Sup @ HP) I could almost stoke the fire of big steel wheels!........had to get up @ 4 this morning but I'm still in a pleasant daze....
  6. QUOTE (Nate1647 @ Oct 8 2012, 09:43 PM)I thought the best part in the whole book was when *SPOILER* the anarchist blows up the alchemy college. As I was reading it, the song just popped into my head, the 2nd chorus is happening when he is tinkering in the vault, As he's swiftly exiting the building he sings the (Oh, they tried to get me/they'll never forget me line), he walks through the street for about 10 seconds during that phased unison guitar and bass riff, then BOOM, the college blows up behind him (Hollywood style) right as that Tarus pedal kicks in and Alex launches into the solo. It would make a BADASS scene in a movie. ......that was fricking badass! The build up of getting into the college, climaxing with the explosions as he walks away undetected.......
  7. The alchemist-priests.......... We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls. We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls.
  8. The Clockwork Angels.......... Invisible airwaves crackle with life Bright antennae bristle with the energy Emotional feedback on timeless wavelength Bearing a gift beyond price, almost free All this machinery making modern music Can still be open-hearted. Not so coldly charted, it's really just a question Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty.
  9. Owen Hardy............ He's a rebel and a runner He's a signal turning green He's a restless young romantic Wants to run the big machine ......He's a New World man...
  10. Use a character, theme, or part of a book which reminds you of another Rush song or lyrics (.......don't use CA.).....give a chapter or page reference, if needed.
  11. Brilliant...........ending well done...........a movie should be made......... I listened to the album (and loved it) continually for over a month when it first came out, now after reading the book when I listen to songs, there is a much deeper connection. Owen Hardy Rules!
  12. ...............8 years is too long for a follow up............then would have been great(plus a few more albums).............now doubt I will enjoy it as much.......though I probally will enjoy it.......
  13. .............my wife (who doesn't listen to my music or Rush) starting reading it and has passed me up now close to the end....... .........I didn't finish it yet.................don't want it to end........... ......................Owen Hardy Rules!!!
  14. Few more chapters.............this just get's better and better................. ..................so would it be be classified as Sci-Fi Fiction? I know it's also called Steampunk............ It really adds to the album lyrics and content.............a really must read to really understand the album........ "I have stoked the fire on the big steel wheels" http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/images...-vinyl-back.jpg
  15. ...........enjoying it so far.................halfway...........nice simple story.................(wtf you expecting people?) ................get over it people..........if there's some Rush lyrics or song titles in the book, so what? It's no big deal...........after all it is a book by Rush.........a book by ..................Are they any other Rock albums which have a book written to the same?
  16. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Feb 25 2005, 07:15 PM) Metallica (everything up through Justice and about half of the Black Album) That is so exactly! RIP CB............................
  17. 2112 [song] starts off (and ends) with some heavy stuff..........(based on about 10 minutes of 2112) but half the album cannot be considered 'heavy', it equally contains ballads, and non 'heavy' stuff........ CA is easily heavier, though neither is Heavy Metal, rather Progressive Metal. MP is heavier than 2112 too, as probally a few other Rush albums are.
  18. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Aug 11 2012, 05:45 AM)QUOTE (jc4gd @ Aug 10 2012, 10:55 PM) They should have dropped FOTD, boring...............and put in T Clansman or so.....................HBTN is overplayed so didn't miss it..........definiately enjoyed ATSS.............but they should have played ID along with The Prophecy, which rules! Wait, you think FOTD is boring but not The Clansman? Maiden has recorded very few songs that are as big of a snore as The Clansman. At least FOTD is always a fun song live with the crowd sing-a-long and most importantly, people actually know and like the song. When I saw Maiden on the BNW tour and they did The Clansman the crowd was absolutely dead for it. In fact in my 20 years of going to concerts it was one of the worst revcieved songs i've ever seen live. The Prophecy will never be played live. If Maiden doesn't play the song when they tour for the album it means it will never be played live. That's why songs like Alexander The Great, Invaders and Flash Of The Blade will never make the set. Once Maiden decides what they'll play and not play with each new album it stays that way. They won't bust out some old song they've never done before. Clansman isn't my favorite either, but IMO it's better that FOTD(South America's Anthem), and yeah I saw it live during the same tour and enjoyed it............If I really could get a song played it would be ATG......but as you mentioned that will never happen..........just like an evening with IM wont.
