  1. People that slam SUV's and trucks are the ones that really bother me. Also, anyone that owns a Subaru WRX/STI. somebody passed me i a jeep yesterday and it sat lower than my Mini-van. What a waste of a vehicle. I think de-badging your car is the car worlds equivalent of a popped collar or wearing our sun glassed inside a nightclub. Even the initials porve that theory out: D-B
  2. When you need school supplies for 3-4 kids, Walmart is great. It's not our favorite but sometimes you can't beat the prices. I think that the oddest thing about Walmart is it's consistency. It doesn't matter where you are in the US (and even Canada) it's always the same type of people in them. I've been in California, Nevada, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and Windsor Ontario. If someone knocked you out cold inside Walmart took you across the country and woke you up inside another Walmart, you would never know you had been moved until you went outside.
  3. I remember that day 9 years ago as if it were yesterday. Our first kiss was right as you exited the secured area at the airport where I was waiting for you. I don't think we even said "HI" first. It was so much better in person, so much better that I don't even have a word to describe it. I now know why they use fireworks in movies when people kiss or feel that perfect connection. The universe worked it's magic and brought us together. I love you, too.
  4. This thread is a perfect example of how and why the Grand Designs sub-forum came in to being...
  5. Its the big one, Elizabeth! I'm coming to join you honey! :o Treeduck and Tick, Sullysue and 1-0-0-1-0-0-1.... how you doin', my brothas and sistahs? Welcome back!! Good to see you around these parts again.
  6. Sure do......http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/Drill004cropped.jpg/1920px-Drill004cropped.jpg Wow, my father actually had an identical drill like that when I was little. I still have one somewhere in the garage. Was my fathers..... I lost mine one of the times I moved. I still have the bits though.
  7. While I agree that if you are a miserable person without money you will be a miserable person with money, the truth remains that money can buy happiness. Let me 'splain. I have an amazing wife and three great (truly great) kids. I am very happy that they are in my life and that they are all blessed with certain traits and talents. Good looking kids (from their mother) and amazing athletes/ musicians. Where money could buy happiness is that I could afford to nurture these talents without skimping on other aspects. By sending my son to a skating clinic that he really wanted to go to to improve his game. To travel with the team on tournaments that require hotels. He is usually the only kid who has to miss a few of those tournaments. He had one last year in Lake Placid where a parent was gracious enough to drive him up and let him stay in their room... but I missed it and LOVE watching him play. My youngest is an absolute star. 5 years old (in his 3rd season) and plays in the 8 and under division. Highest scorer on his team this season. A AAA team has approached him to recruit him (yes, at 5 years old) which is how you start your journey to top 10 college play. I pay over $1000 a season for his fees now. AAA would cost $4500 per season. No can do. I have missed quite a few games and my oldest son's shows (killer guitar player) due to having to work overtime to afford all of this. It takes me away on weekends to a different state. It helps pay for all of it but takes me away from the people I do it for. I know what you mean about being happy and it coming from inside but if you are miserable with the money you need to nurture your children and still spend time with them then, you're right. You are just a miserable pr**k. In my case, the only thing in the way of my complete happiness is money. My wife and I got into some financial trouble years ago due to a job shift and poor economy (I was a self employed contractor). We never recovered. If Bill Gates sent me a check for $20,000 life would be good forever. We make decent money but can't get our heads above water. Sorry, maybe this was too much info but keeping it inside gives me a headache. These are both great posts and I couldn't agree more. KennyLee, I get the hockey too. My two boys played travel for about 6-7 years, that was a lot of money over the years, and time. I miss a lot of the kids things from Jan- Apr, I'm the IT guy at an accounting firm and we work six days a week during tax season. I always thought this was funny: Money can't be happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle.
  8. Wow, holy crap!! I'm in.
  9. You should make up some kind of story about there being an onion shortage in the northwest due to the drought in California.
  10. My relationship with my parents is a lot like this. I will say that I have some good conversations with my dad sometimes, and that has only started in the past few years (I'm 41as of this writing). But I only go to his house about twice a year, and he comes to mine once a year (and we live 20 minutes apart). Neither of my parents are all that much into being grandparents, and they do their own thing. My mother and stepfather travel pretty much all the time, and that's their thing. I see them about three times a year. The saddest thing is that they'll be gone before I know it, and I don't even know if I'm going to notice. I suppose I shouldn't say that because I'm not in that situation yet, but that's kind of how I feel now. Wow. What I just read could have been something I wrote. That was weird. The saddest thing is that they'll be gone before I know it, and I don't even know if I'm going to notice. That kind of sums it up for me, too. My dad will call and I will genuinely be excited to tell him something and as I start telling the story I hear, "Well, that's great, that's great. Alright, I'll talk to you later." For him it's more about him calling than it is actually talking to me. For the record, I'm 43 years old, been playing out in clubs since I was 17 and neither my mom or dad have ever seen me play bass and sing on a stage. Weird. Kenny, what you said about the phone calls with your dad- that's exactly the way it is with my mother. I normally talk to her on the phone whenever she and my step father are in town- about once every couple of months- and after about fifteen minutes, she starts looking for reasons why she has to go. Another thing- I started hosting Thanksgiving at my house three or four years ago, and I always invite them, but they've never attended. A couple of times, they've actually stayed home alone. My conscience is clean, though, because I'm the one who makes the approach. Whatever they do is their choice- and they make that abundantly clear. I am really glad you two wrote all that out so I didn't have to. That is almost exactly how things usually go with my dad as well. My mom puts in more effort and seems to genuinely care about her grandkids. Unfortunately most of the stories she tells when she visits are about my brother but she thinks they are things I did which gets very irritating after about three days because she talks A LOT. That's about the time I am ready for her to go home, but she usually stays for about 10 days.
  11. Milwaukee had 0 days with an official high in the 90s. Everybody around here says its so hot in Myrtle Beach. I have lived here almost 15 years now and have never once seen it 100 degrees. Spend a late July and August in the D.C area and its 10 times worse with heat and humidity. Now inland S.C is another matter. It can climb over 100 for sure once in a while toward Columbia etc. The weather here at the beach is just fine with me.... :sundog: I wish I had known you lived in Myrtle Beach. Sundog, the kids and I were there for a week at the end of August. It would have been cool to meet up.
  12. Here you go: Someone made a thread where you would post pictures to try and represent Members names. One of our members is (was) Slaine Mac Roth. Someone posted pictures of: something dead, a big mac and a picture of David Lee Roth. Some smart aleck guessed: Dead Burger Dave It stuck and became TRF history. I can recall all that but I have to make a list every time I have to go the store, even for 2-3 things. I found the thread, but it makes no sense whatsoever without the picutres. http://www.therushfo...r dave__st__20 Guess who the smart alec was? :P Man... we had some really silly fun back then. That's too funny. You did it and didn't remember, but remembered the name "change"

I am the luckiest and happiest guy in the world to have you in my life. Yours You have touched the farthest recesses of my soul and laid claim to the very essence of my being Your signature is upon my heart I am lost in you I am Yours forever... I love you
  15. Try a garden hose or two. Just put them in a hole, or two if have an extra hose, and turn them on. The tunnels will flood and they will come out or drown. I know it's kind of mean but they will ruin your yard.
  16. Especially for introducing Sunny and I. Although I have made some other real life friends from this place, who are always so much fun to hang out wit, she is the best thing to have happen to me in my life (along with my two daughters). There is some kind of Cosmic Trio of Rush Karma entwined in our two lives. The Three Boys gave us a band to love and the Three Esteemed Admins gave us a place to hang out and meet. I will be forever grateful to our Admins for this site.
  17. Um.......*tap tap*....is this thing on? Um......Yeah, I like Rush. They do that "Diane Sawyer" song, right? Thanks to sullysue for getting this thread off to a great start. Just have to reiterate what most of you already know -- that we wouldn't be here today without RushRevisited. It was his idea to start this, and he put in a LOT of time, effort and expense to get this place going, and to keep it going. it was his expertise in webhosting and server building and knowing how to get us noticed on the internet that allowed us to last this long and to grow the way we did. Cheers, Mike. Cheers to Mike and 1001, my brothers from other mothers. You both brought me into the Rush fold, made me feel like I fit in, and added so much to my life. I wouldn't be the same if not for you guys and this place. Even though the years have passed and made it harder for me to be here, I will always, ALWAYS love you both. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/RushBabe/Cali%20Trip/RRGG1001.jpg And thanks to my sweetheart of a friend, Sullysue, for starting this thread. Most appropos, lady! You guys are all Awesome!!! I'm pretty sure I took that picture, you all are standing in my front yard at my old house in Martinez. That is still one of my top ten weekends of my life.
  18. Is that taken from the hill the giant orange/white antenna is on? Twin Peaks area?
  19. I am number 6 (you are not a number you are a free man) Aug 24, 2004
  20. You are right. I would like to take this opportunity to thank whomever (is it you 73?) who started this forum and keep it going and never ask us for a dime. TRF has brought me more enjoyment and laughter than I can tell anyone. And it contains the greatest group of human beings on the face of the earth as well! So, from the heart  , a very big and very sincere: THANK YOU!!! I sure would love to buy 73 a drink (or as many as he wants) some day. First of all, if you dig far enough, you will find the story of how TRF came to be... i've shared MANY drinks with all 3 admins and most of the mods here... LRF, I'm pretty sure the TRF origin story has ever been posted. That has been by design For me it will always be Mike2112,. our esteemed admin stepped down, as it was his idea initially, but if not for 1-0-01-0-0-1 and Ghostgirl helping him it would have taken shape or form. GG gave me my member title almost immediately and it really has little to do with my namesake song. The three of them will never know, even though I probably tell them every time I see them, how much this place means to me. They had a profound effect on my life. It is said in your darkest hour you will find out who your friends are, that is truer than I could have ever believed. I can say with 100% honesty that my life would not be what it is today without the three of them. Much love as ALWAYS to you and your beautiful family. This place IS a life-changer, for so many of us, but your story is special. As I keep saying (ad nauseum I'm sure) I'm not here like I wish I could be, not nearly as often as I'd like, but reading this post makes me smile and makes my heart feel happy. Lots of love to your family as well. You are always here in spirit, that I know. I'm glad I could make you smile yesterday. I know one other member whose life you had an inadvertent affect on just by making this place be here.
  21. Fishflys, right? There is a Festival for them every year in New Baltimore, MI.
