  2. QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,Jun 1 2011, 11:47 PM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Jun 1 2011, 10:44 PM) QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,Jun 1 2011, 11:27 PM)And You And I: there is no other song in the world that just lifts you out of your body like this one. Sure, there is space rock and psychedelic, but this gem here is just a romantic and at the same time realistic journey across the entire world...even better, you take this journey with whoever your best friend may be...just them and you. What about "To Be Over"? I know it's not really fair when running up against AYAI, but it's got dat outro that's just so majestic and beautiful, whereas AYAI has this amazing outro, then kinda falls flat in that last minute or so. To be honest, my favorite version of AYAI is probably on the Montreux DVD - Howe's quick slides in the ending are more audible. And yes, I'm aware of the shitstorm that will come as a result of this post, but it's how I feel. Also, see my post in the "songs you wish you wrote" thread for my top five. I didn't write an essay on them nor am I going to, but those are five of my favorites of all time. I'd have to put some serious work into making a definite top five list of all time, though... No shitstorm from me, but the ending of AYAI falling flat? Those are probably the best vocals I have ever heard, definitely the most hypnotizing. Flat, in the way that it's majestic and, er, awesome, then Rick plays his descending piano lines, then the acoustic ending starts. I mean, I love it, it's sublime, but it's not the same as "To Be Over", whose ending stays majestic, then simply fades away. All IMO, of course.

  4. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Jun 1 2011, 06:05 PM)I could have included some Bad Religion too. Aw man, how'd I forget them?
  5. QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ Jun 1 2011, 12:58 AM) But all punk rock is shit Oh, you parasprite, you Now go on, listen to your CandyGrass Generators and your Sheep on Main Street.
  6. >thread about Avril Lavigne >expected posts with people saying what real punk is >imokaywiththis.png >continue reading thread >no one mentions Black Flag or The Misfits >whatthefuckisthis.png Black Flag - Rise Above Black Flag - Spray Paint
  7. Rush - "Natural Science" - it's my favorite Rush song, and is IMO the most perfect example of what Rush is. Yes - "The Gates of Delirium" - same as above, except with the added beauty of "Soon". The Smiths - "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" - absolutely beautiful song, lyrics and music, all in the span of about four minutes. Big & Rich - "Leap of Faith" - it's not really a proper "country" song, but I'd consider it my favorite country song. Incredibly underrated song by this group. Lupe Fiasco - "Superstar" - this is the only one on my list that's had any kind of major popularity; regardless, it's my favorite Lupe song, my favorite rap song, and I love his flow in the song. In a way, this is similar to what my 5 favorite songs list would look like, except much more strict.
  8. I've liked "Working Them Angels" ever since it came out, but hearing it live on the last tour kind of reawakened my love of the song. IMO, it's the only song I want to hear from Snakes, asides from "Armor and Sword". I think I had a similar reaction when I heard "Witch Hunt" live in 2007, as it sounded more menacing than ever before. On the other hand, I've never really been crazy about "Far Cry" in a live setting. I like it on the record, but live... eh, it just doesn't carry the same punch the album version does.
  9. Congrats, bro Now it's time for the best senior class of all time to take charge
  10. The new Panic! At the Disco record actually isn't so bad. The production's a bit too clean and slick for my liking, but the songs are good enough so it's not really that big of a deal. Considering that this record was made without Ryan Ross, who virtually wrote all of Panic!'s first two records, it's excellent.
  11. QUOTE (treeduck @ May 27 2011, 06:07 PM)They should play this instead of Stick it Out if they're going to do a Counterparts song. In addition to that one, I'd love to hear "Alien Shore", another song from the record that hasn't been played live.
  12. QUOTE (tangy @ May 27 2011, 10:18 AM)holy geriatric ward batman! Whats the newest release on that list?
  13. QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,May 27 2011, 02:01 PM)I like those but you don't like Godbluff or Pawn Hearts? Or H to He or Still Life? It seems you're afraid to open your mind a little Considering that he's been listening to that album longer than you've been on this planet, I think he's had time to be "enlightened". It all comes down to personal tastes, and you two don't agree. Don't lose any sleep over it.
  14. What has happened to TRF? I miss the good old days, back when people knew what humor was. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
  15. Asides from the Rush show in about two weeks, blink-182 and My Chemical Romance will be heading out on the Honda Civic Tour this summer/fall. They're playing in Tampa on a Saturday night in September, and I'm thinking about going there with a friend (who introduced me to MyChem, yet hasn't seen them yet) to see the show. The reason I'm thinking about this show and not a closer one like Atlanta or Charlotte is because I'm not too keen on driving two or so hours home like I did for the MyChem show... though I was still in school, which probably contributed to me being a little more tired.
  16. QUOTE (invisibleairwaves @ May 26 2011, 08:29 AM)Considering the last of the threads was posted two days ago, I think you're a little late here. The two mockery threads were funny, especially when everyone started taking them seriously. Nice to have a bit of levity here among all the prog-snobbery. QUOTE (fledgehog @ May 26 2011, 01:11 PM).......................................................................................... this thread is dumber than 200 "is ___ music?" threads put together These pretty much sum it up.
  17. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ May 26 2011, 07:43 AM)Misfits - Walk Among Us How did I forget that one?
  18. QUOTE (Akron162 @ May 26 2011, 12:15 AM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ May 25 2011, 11:01 PM) QUOTE (Gompers @ May 25 2011, 08:26 AM)Did you know Rush is considered Prog? Rush are not prog, Rush are METAL! Rush is heavier than most prog bands, but i wouldn't say they are metal. Rush are METAL! They may have prog influences but Rush have always been a METAL band!
  19. QUOTE (Gompers @ May 25 2011, 08:26 AM)Did you know Rush is considered Prog? Rush are not prog, Rush are METAL!
  20. This list is comprised of albums that I know very well, which is why certain artists' debut albums (Yes, Coldplay, Guns N' Roses, Zep, Lupe Fiasco, Morrissey) aren't here. Had I listened to them more, they would be here. Also, I'm not including artists with only one album (+44, Box Car Racer) since it's really not fair. Van Halen - Van Halen Dr. Dre - The Chronic Boston - Boston Garbage - Garbage My Chemical Romance - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love Green Day - 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours (technically not their "proper" debut, as it's a compilation, but 39/Smooth would also make it) Muse - Showbiz Panic! At the Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out U2 - Boy Big & Rich - Horse of a Different Color
  21. QUOTE (Good @ bad, andrush,May 25 2011, 08:13 PM)Rush (just because it is the start of the the start for me in which I started listening to music to start my awesomeness) Huh?
  22. ITT: clueless people who obviously haven't been in MOTS in the past two days, and those with no sense of humor whatsoever. TRF, I am disappoint.
  23. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ May 25 2011, 12:00 AM) And I'm sorry that you take the Internet so seriously. >take the Internet seriously >implying colinfledge takes ANYTHING online seriously You must be new here, welcome to TRF.
