I officially have a ticket to see Morrissey in Atlanta on December 3 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. It's in the Center Orchestra section, row AA, seat 117... which is almost in the center of the section. I can't believe I'm going!! I'm so glad everything worked out the way it did, this is really important to me and I'm glad to be able to go. And then, of course, I'll be seeing Rush in Charlotte on Tuesday, October 30. I can't wait to see that show, either... hopefully they can one-up their show I saw last year in Greenville, which was easily the best Rush show I've ever been to.

By the way, I listened to The Shape of Punk to Come: A Chimerical Bombination in 12 Bursts by Refused for the first time today... and holy wow it's great. I can't accurately describe how I feel about it but it's amazing... punk sensibilities with ambition, balanced screaming without being depressing, and best of all, I didn't find any of it to be pretentious. I'm so glad I picked this album up a few weeks ago, and that I didn't decide to wait a long time before listening to it.

Finally listened to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief over the last two days... long story short they're both great albums. I'm disappointed that it's taken me this long to listen to them, but glad that I gave both of them dedicated listens on headphones, it definitely paid off. What does the Radiohead segment of MOTS think about these two albums?

I'm visiting Minneapolis and Milwaukee to see the baseball parks up here, and decided that this would be a good time to listen to some records I haven't yet heard. Yesterday I listened to Amnesiac by Radiohead, and today I listened to Hail to the Thief by Radiohead and Not Your Kind of People by Garbage. I wanted to share my thoughts on these three albums, and see how MOTS responds. Amnesiac - 9/10. I'm a huge fan of its predecessor/brother album, Kid A, and therefore this one clicked rather easy for a Radiohead album - while still making me want to listen to it more. I think I'm going to try and listen to both albums consecutively one day and see how it works. Oh, and this album's version of "Morning Bell" is interesting... I like how they rearranged it on this record. Hail to the Thief - 8.5/10. I want to give it a 9 because it's so good on a first listen, but some parts of it aren't all that great. That said, it's got a cool vibe to it. It's definitely a "drop-off" from the three prior albums, though, but those are also three incredible albums. I think I'd still rather listen to it than The Bends, though... call me crazy. Not Your Kind of People - 7.5/10. Honestly, I didn't like this album that much. Some of the songs were good, but I really don't like Shirley Manson's vocals on this record. Granted, the only real experience I have with this band is their debut (which I absolutely love), and maybe two listens to their second record (which was alright), so I haven't exactly followed her vocal evolution, but part of what I love about her debut is her voice - it's so unique. On this record she sounds, well, normal. That, combined with the "good" songs, make this album somewhat forgettable.

Jesus, I'd forgotten how beautiful the ending of "Close to the Edge" was I don't think CTTE as a whole is their best (hello Relayer ) but it's certainly up there.

My first concert of any kind was seeing The Marshall Tucker Band in a park in my hometown in 2005. I don't remember much of it, just that my dad and I left early because I was getting bored. My first true concert experience (i.e. thousands of people, loud music, etc.) was Rush in Atlanta on June 13, 2007. It went pretty well for an opening night show, too - there was only one major issue I remember, Alex's guitar not being on at the beginning of "Between the Wheels". I remember going nuts at seeing Geddy with the Rickenbacker bass during "Bangkok" after a lengthy absence. Yeah, it was a pretty great show

Just thought I'd chime in and say that "I See You" is a fantastic song. I'm listening to the debut, and boy I forgot how good it is.

I love how my Philips Fidelio stereo (with extra bass!) can't handle Chris' bass in "America". Either the speaker's faulty (it's done this on other songs with heavy bass) or it can't handle heavy bass.

Third-favorite Rush album behind PeW and PoW. To me, it marked the true return of heavy guitars after a rather lengthy absence. As much as I love the '80s - and this isn't said lightly, I love their '80s material - it was time for a change. Presto attempted it but kinda flopped, and Roll the Bones only slightly improved. I see Counterparts as taking the songwriting, improving it, and also having great sound, as opposed to Rupert Hine's no-balls production. The lyrics are also superb - I prefer the personal aspect of this record's lyrics. I also love the keyboards being in the background, yet fleshing out the sound.

Asides from Rush on October 30, I'm going to try my damndest to see Morrissey in Atlanta on December 3. Since he says he plans to retire at 55, I really want to catch him once before it's too late.
