  1. QUOTE (highwater @ Sep 12 2012, 12:44 PM) I did the VIP option at the Pittsburgh show and was nervous as all hell entering the building to pick up my packet -- lo and behold we got front row center. I was shocked, but obviously very pleased. As a reference - I bought my VIP tix within one minute of them going on sale, so I'm sure that was *the* factor in where we were seated. Hope others have the same good fortune! Thanks for the info! I bought Chicago within the first minute and got the confirmation email at 1 minute past the sale our. Really hoping for front row as well. Taking my 15 year old to his third RUSH show and VIP will be a surprise.
  2. QUOTE (Snaked @ Sep 10 2012, 10:30 AM) I'm thinking about making the 4.5 hour drive to Pittsburgh myself.. just don't know if I can pull it off with all my requirements this week Pittsburgh is only an hour and a half for me, but the boss lady says NO to me going. I guess since I am seeing them Saturday in Chicago she has a case... not a good one, but a case. And oh by the way, Saturday is the wife's birthday... taking her to Chicago, but she won't be going to the show...just me and one of my sons. It's kind of her birthday present to me, but on her birthday!
  3. This is encouraging. Thanks Snaked! I have VIP for Chicago. I completed the transaction in about 30 seconds and got the confirmation email at 1:01 PM. So I have high expectations!
  4. I am impressed they are swapping up five songs. I have three chances to see list A and list B. if they swap every other show I should see A in Chicago and Toronto and B in Cleveland.
  5. Pretty sure Working Man was released in the 70's.
  6. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 12 2012, 07:49 AM) Finally!! The torturous wait is over. Target had it on sale for $9.99, so I headed straight over there from my dentist appt. I got there at 8:20 (they opened at 8) and I only saw 4, so I grabbed two. One is a present. Happy Rush Day everyone! I'm getting ready for my headlong flight into this album. Still have 8 songs unheard O'Happy Day Enjoy everyone Everyone buy at least one copy, and we'll help Rush attain their first #1 record! I bought three! Two presents for some fellow Rushians. So far I am really digging it. Seven Cities of Gold my fav so far.
  7. QUOTE (Aikenrooster @ May 24 2012, 09:21 PM) Subdivisions Bravado Distant Early Warning The Atlanta show will be my first Rush show, ever, so I'd love to hear these. Are these never, sometimes, or always done live??? Subdivisions always, the other two sometimes, but not in the past few years so they might be due.
  8. Wow! Nobody else voted for Nobody's Hero??
  9. His books are indeed difficult reads. It took me two years to get through Ghost Rider and I am on pace for that with Roadshow. I agree with most comments in this thread. His books really are not that interesting. I enjoy the Rush aspects of them...tour details, back stage activity, and really enjoy his BMW discussions. What have I learned? Don't even think about apraoching Neil if you see him out somewhere. Why bother? If I ever do see him on a plane or in an airport I may say something simple like, Hello Mr. Elwood, how are you?
  10. QUOTE (kid-gloves @ May 21 2012, 12:56 PM) So does anybody know anything about the seating at these venues? Is the Sweden festival and the Helsinki show just general admission or is there reserved floor seating? It turns out I have a conference in Sweden from June 6-10!!! What conference? Maybe I can get myself a ticket to that as well!!
  11. 1. Fly By Night - Why? Because they haven't played it live since 1970 something (1977 I believe, but expect and hope to be corrected) - Where? Just after an Overture that rocks just as hard as the R30 Overture. (See how I sneaked in a 4th selection?? ) 2. Anthem - Why? Well, I like that song. Where? At the end of the first set. 3. Countdown - Why? Why not? Where - Final song of the show (last encore)
  12. QUOTE (Snaked @ May 17 2012, 02:32 PM) QUOTE (s_b_g @ May 17 2012, 03:13 PM) QUOTE (Snaked @ May 17 2012, 02:11 PM)you can thank LiveNation for the current state of affairs in the music industry. but bands don't have to go with them - they can choose their approach to touring - and that what disappoints me the most d LiveNation controls a large percentage of the major venues in the US and several in other countries. If a 'major' band wants to tour they have little choice but to get in bed with LN to some degree and at that point they might as well sign with LN for a more substantial stake. It's not by accident that LN has positioned themselves in this manner. They control the venues, TM controls the ticketing thus they are able to inflate the guarantee to the artist which in turn trickles down to the consumer by way of higher ticket prices. Until something is done about the LN/TM virtual monopoly concert prices will continue to rise and we will see more gimmicks such as VIPNation, tiered/dynamic pricing for Platinum seats and so on. The question I have for anybody bitching is this: You have 2 choices... 1. Go with smaller regional promoters and at the end of the day you make 10Mil for a 35 date tour 2. Go with LiveNation/TM and be GUARANTEED 18Mil for the exact same schedule. This is a job for the artists and like RUSH most of them have created relatively large corporations around themselves. There are managers, lawyers and office staffs which rely on the business continuing. For the average Joe a better analogy is this. Company 1 offers you a job. $20/hr Company 2 offers you a job. $70k/year. Same job.. basically the same type of business. Which job do you take? Good Post Snaked!
  13. I see RushCon 12 is now updated. Question though - what's up with the group rate offer for the hotel? $119.. you can book a room for $116 on the Marriott site right now. edit - OK I see that it is not a prepay room. That does help! Thanks RushCon!
  14. I have three different RUSH vanity plates; GOT RUSH for my Van (idea came from GOTRUSH on this forum) YYZFAN for my car CYGX1 for my motorcycle The wife didn't want one for her car.

QUOTE (gudbuytjane @ May 16 2012, 09:13 AM) This must be US Netflix, boo. Canadian Netflix is so crappy, we don't get anything good! -Jane I disagree! Last time I was in Quebec I was able to watch The Trailer Park Boys - Christmas Special. We can't get that in the US. Love that show. Just ordered everything they put out from Amazon.

    RUSH Cornhole

Some very funny posts! I had no idea this thread would spin off in this direction. Honestly though I never knew the term cornhole had that meaning. Which is good I didnt know that! Ha Anyway, the game is also on the Nintendo Wii...it's called Pro Bags on that system. I don't know the origin of the game, but I always figured it was called cornhole because the bags are filled with corn versus beans or plastic pellets and you throw the bag into a hole! I found another picture of a RUSH cornhole set...Vapor Trails theme. This dude hand painted his. http://www.cornholegameplayers.com/forum/v....php?f=14&t=312 Maybe I should bring my set to RushCon...we can have a mini tournament!

  18. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ May 11 2012, 09:50 AM) I'm finding shit-all in the Toronto presale today. Nothing but the back 100 sections...hardly worth a look. I scored 2nd row of Section 118. Does nayone know if Seat #1 is closer to Section 119 or 117?
  19. "Why can't we just have a real fan presale?" Completely agree! Every year with the TSO Fan Presale I score either 1st or second row. Every year!
  20. Take some ear protection. I have buds that wear them to every show no matter where we sit. Worse case, you don't need them. Or...I can take your seats and you can sit back away from the speakers.
  21. They suck after that can't see anything everyone standing, which your suppose to do on floor.. But not happy staring at someones back the whole concert.. Or... if you are capable, you can stand everywhere in the arena!
  22. I forgot about the Citi Card pre sale - I edited my post. I agree with the comments. It's perception. Also it's about marketing... run out and get a Citi card so you can get in on the (mediocre) pre sale!!
