  1. I don't know. Hopefully the production won't sound like ass. I'd like it to be more aggressive, less plodding. Staccato bass riffing would be nice. On S&A, Geddy stated that he had come full circle and was more into holding down the bottom end. I hope he breaks out of that mold. No Geddy choirs, please. To me, it sounds cheesy. Less guitar layering. I don't enjoy listening to 15 guitars playing at the same time. With Nick being involved from the beginning this time around, I think those things can be accomplished. Keeping my fingers crossed as this is already a done deal and it will be what it will be.

QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Mar 23 2012, 08:37 AM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Mar 23 2012, 10:27 AM) I don't care about album spoilers, but I'm a Waffen SS spoiler Nazi when it comes to the set list. I do NOT want to know beforehand. For those that posted that Bruce is dead the whole time; Vader is Luke's father, and Santa Clause isn't real: You're dead to me! What about... She's a dude He was dead the whole time! Acceptable.

  5. If the new "single" is better than Tattoo , I'll be happy. If "A Different Kind of Truth" blows away CA, I'll be pissed.
  6. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Mar 21 2012, 07:05 PM) QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Mar 21 2012, 10:03 PM) The other musical acts being inducted into the hall this year in the performer category are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, Laura Nyro, the Small Faces/Faces, Beastie Boys, the Crickets, the Famous Flames, the Midnighters, the Comets, the Blue Caps and the Miracles. Red Hot Chili Peppers Beastie Boys More deserving than Rush. Chili Peppers deserve to be in, imo. The Beastie Boys is a head scratcher for me. Fight for Your Right (To Party) and Brass Monkey are the only songs I know. For 3 guys who can't sing worth a shite, they made it pretty far, I guess.
  7. I'll pick mine up in person. 5.1 would be nice. We'll see.
  8. Drop Kick Me Jesus (Through the Goalposts of Life) - Bobby Bare Lola - The Kinks People Get Ready - Rod Steward and Jeff Beck I'm going for the melancholy/festive vibe.
  9. The Frampton show went down last night. I didn't go because it was a sellout, but a buddy of mine has a lady friend that had tickets and asked him if he wanted to go. So....he told me that the show was excellent. The venue is a small theater that was restored to its 1930's glory. Here's a link if you want to check it out. Cascade Theater Anyway, the venue's policy is "no photos or videos allowed." The problem with enforcing that rule is there are only two security guards and it's next to impossible to stop people from filming/recording. Anyway, during the encore, people got all the way up to the front of the stage. There is no barrier between stage and seats. Some idiot was leaning on the stage and filming Frampton with his iPhone. Frampton did not like that at all. He walked up to the dude, took the phone from him and destroyed it. He finished the song. Set his guitar down and walked off the stage, cutting the show short by two songs. Most of the people had no idea what had just happened and weren't aware that he had cut the show short. I'm still pissed that I couldn't go! Oh well.
  10. Man, I am freakin' gettin' old! Back in the day, a Rush album would come out on almost a yearly basis. Waiting 3 or 5 years between releases has been a drag. Can't really complain, though. It's been a great ride.
  11. My vote goes to Grace Under Pressure. When I first heard the album, I was taken aback. I was very disappointed. Geddy's tone changed drastically with the Steinberger and there was an overload on keys. (see Afterimage) Also, Alex's style and tone changed. He was throwing these big chords out there that hung over everything else and rang like a mofo. I hated that album and almost gave up on Rush from that point on. Almost thirty years later, I love it. Red Lenses being one of my all-time favorites. Opinions and perceptions change over time.
  12. QUOTE (Invisible To Telescopic Eye @ Mar 18 2012, 03:14 AM) http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b349/Ghettochip/bob-ross.jpg I hope CA's album artwork has a nice quiet little stream...yeah...just put one in there...and maybe it's surrounded by some happy little lilacs...right next to a great big happy tree or two....see it's not so hard to just throw those big happy trees in there....and above it all some little fluffy clouds...look at them....they're smiling right down on that happy little bunch of glory on the ground down there....yeah nice and happy.
  13. The natives are getting restless, sahib.
  14. Heh. Yeah, stuff like that has been happening for a long time. The day after a Rush concert, I was packing my bags into my car. (This was during the Counterparts tour) I was wearing a RTB sweatshirt. It had the album cover on the front. An older man was standing outside of his room watching me. When I looked in his direction, he said, "I can't believe how popular that guy has become." I just nodded my head and went about my business.
  15. Underwater, my cigarette won't light... Very tasty guitar solo by Steven in that song! Stupid Dream is one of those albums that I find myself listening to from beginning to end.
  16. Personally, I'm glad that this is dragging on. It gives me time to save up some skrilla for the tour. Damn you Van Halen!
  17. Why is there a huge red check mark next to Getty? Is the teacher saying that your kid's answer is incorrect?
  18. As I was driving home from work today listening to my local Classic Rock station, the DJ said that a spokesman for Rush could not confirm the May 29th release date as being accurate.
  19. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Mar 9 2012, 03:02 PM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Mar 9 2012, 12:37 PM) The Rolling Stone article does not rip on Rush in any way. It's a pretty neutral piece. I agree. It also answered a question Ive been asking - which is what the financial arrangement radio stations have with the publishers/copyrighters for themusic, and it describes it here. They get a royalty for the pubic play, so the radio stations can play it. The article makes it sound like the artist can object, but doesnt have a leg to stand on. As far as the artist not having a leg to stand on: Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders tried to do the same thing. Apparently Rush told her to pound sand because he uses "Ohio" as his intro music to this day. I haven't listened to Rush Limbaugh in several days, so I don't know if he quit using Spirit of Radio as bumper music or not.
  20. March 7th happens to be the date of my wedding anniversary. Weird.
  21. QUOTE (metaldad @ Mar 8 2012, 01:46 PM) Can we Please end this shit already If you mean shit = Rolling Stone, I wholeheartedly concur. That rag jumped the shark years ago. They've done nothing but bag on Rush for decades. f**k them.
  22. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Mar 8 2012, 11:43 AM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Mar 8 2012, 12:40 PM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Mar 8 2012, 11:19 AM) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Mar 8 2012, 01:15 PM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ Mar 8 2012, 12:38 PM) As much as you guys love to bitch and moan that he talks too much, you sure do love talking about him. You complain that he won't shut up about his feelings about Van Halen, but then you spend 25 pages here not shutting up about your feelings about Sammy Hagar. You insult him, call him all manner of rude names, rant about how his tenure in the band wasn't as good as Roth's... yet when he makes any kind of negative comment about VH, he's out of line. Someone's not paying a lick of attention to what's said. Try that. It's not about his opinion, for the 100th time. My God man... I think Danny boy is having a Bad day . He must have spilled Coffee on his Balance Tour Shirt ZING! Yeah, yeah While I may seem... passionate... about this, I'm not in it emotionally. I think it's a great mental exercise or sparring opportunity. That's not to say I don't believe what I'm saying, I just mean that nobody should think I'm getting extremely worked up over this stuff There's no malice or ill-will here. I know. This thread is great. Lots of entertainment value for the buck. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the DLR-era VH. Don't get me wrong, though. I really do like Sammy, and his time with Van Halen had some really awesome moments. I do think that he should shut his pie hole, but I also believe the press is partially responsible for what's going on. They know this line of inquiry is gonna get a rise outta Sammy and he falls for the bait every time.
  23. QUOTE (metaldad @ Mar 8 2012, 11:37 AM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Mar 8 2012, 01:35 PM) Tommy Thayer used to be in a KISS tribute band. Tommy Thayer is still in a KISS tribute band! Bring back Ace for crissakes! But unless Tommy Quits or they get offered more money than God, he is not coming back I know. Cue "The Way We Were" music.
