  1. I was under the impression that the band didn't have anything to do with this box set? I thought I heard Alex say that in a recent radio interview. Maybe I misheard him.
  2. QUOTE (Soni @ Dec 13 2011, 02:41 PM) I just gave the second disc of the Incident a spin... much better than what I remembered... Hope that will be their next direction. Agreed. I enjoyed the music on that disc more than The Incident. Black Dahlia, Flicker, and Remember Me Lover are brilliant tunes. Wilson went a bit retro with The Incident. Time Flies sounds very much like Last Chance to Evacuate. Gilmour should have sued him for snaking Dogs.
  3. QUOTE (laughedatbytime @ Dec 12 2011, 05:04 PM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Dec 12 2011, 06:00 PM) I think I heard the news from Howard Cosell during a Monday Night Football game. Not exactly sure if I'm recalling that correctly. Yep, here's the clip. Good to know that a few of my brain cells are still functioning within parameters.
  4. I bought my father Double Fantasy for Christmas that year. A few days after I purchased the album he was killed. My dad was devastated as he was a huge Beatles fan growing up. I think I heard the news from Howard Cosell during a Monday Night Football game. Not exactly sure if I'm recalling that correctly.
  5. Count me in. When I was a kid in the 70s, they were like gods to me. I only had a couple of posters. I remember having the Gene Simmons solo album poster and the poster of the whole band at the top of a skyscraper in NYC. The very first album I owned was KISS Alive II. I played it every day after school. I never had the opportunity see them in the day. My parents wouldn't let me go to rock concerts because "people smoke dope there". My first time seeing them live was in '96 or '97 during their reunion tour. I was not disappointed. All of the hype regarding the spectacle of their shows was true! I saw them a second time (Psycho Circus tour) a few years later in Oakland. Great show with Skid Row and Ted Nugent opening up for them. The only downer was that someone fell to their death from the upper section of the arena. The paramedics carried his body right past us on a stretcher. I saw them a couple of years ago in Oakland. The show was fun but it wasn't the same because it wasn't Ace and Peter. I went to that show with CygnusX-1Bk2. We had seats right in front of the board. Towards the end of the show, Paul zip lined over the audience to a mini stage that was just a few feet away from us. Cyg took an awesome pic of Paul doing his thing. Maybe he'll post it in this thread, but it looks like he pretty much sticks to the musician section of this board. Dynasty was disappointing. Too disco, but Ace saved that album with 2000 Man and Hard Times. I lost interest after Unmasked was released but I do enjoy a few songs from Lick it Up and Animalize. Anyone else remember KISS meet the Phantom. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Looking back on it now, it's soooooooo cheesy I'm embarrassed to have loved it so much.
  6. Back in the day I always used to think how Rush would have sounded if Rik Emmett was their lead singer. So weird to actually hear it 30 years later.
  7. I'm gonna go with Gary Sinise. I think he'd make a good "Neil".
  8. He sounded fine to me the last time I saw them in Concord, CA. As a matter of fact, I remember turning to my wife and saying, "I can't believe that he can still nail that!" after he sung: Each of us A cell of awareness Imperfect and incomplete
  9. Synth era, I'd go with Mission. So much emotion spilling out of those notes that it borders on ridiculous.
  10. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Nov 6 2011, 09:20 AM)I've posted this before, but what the hell....it was such a great night... http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/IMG00050.jpg That's odd. Those people look exactly like us. Weird.
  11. The man definitely lived to work. RIP I loved that old curmudgeon.

  14. QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Nov 2 2011, 02:46 PM)Big Hagar fan. I agree about the "Red" album kickin' ass, although his first solo album "9/10 Scale" is kinda rough. I like the early 80's Sammy alot with Danger Zone, Standing Hampton, Three Lock Box, and HSAS. Come to think of it, I don't think there's anything he's ever done that I don't like at least a little bit. But I do prefer the 70's and 80's stuff the most. signed, Ronnie Montrose Thanks for the laugh!
  15. QUOTE (metaldad @ Nov 1 2011, 12:38 PM)QUOTE (druid13 @ Nov 1 2011, 01:55 PM) Ace really had the best solo album of the 4 back in 1978..... That album is great, Paul's as well. The other 2 ? Not a fan of Living In Sin at the Holiday Inn , eh? I still have Gene's album somewhere around here. The demonic laughter at the beginning of Radioactive scared the crap out of me when I first heard it.
  16. Give In the End a shot. My grandma could probably play that (except for the solo) and she's dead.
  17. Extremely well done! I met him briefly in Houston, TX. Very cordial dude.
  18. QUOTE (go2wrk@95974 @ Aug 14 2011, 08:46 PM)Very interesting discussion. I agree with the poster that said there is a big difference between organized religion and a personal relationship with God. I'd like to tell you a story about my experience in finding God, If I can. A buddy of mine, back in Huntington Beach, calf.,my hometown, had 2 older brother's that did 3 tours ,between then, in Vietnam. One of them, came back from the jungle in 69..Well, a couple yrs later, I'd say about 73 or so..cause I was about 14. Well, anyway, we were gettin high on some weed, and Don gets out a picture (a polaroid)that one of his soldier friend's took out of a window on a jet-liner, and this plane was goin' atleast 500 mph, and was atleast 20-40,000 ft in the sky...well, what it showed was absolutely AMAZING!!!! There in the picture was man with a white robe, long dark brown hair, the man was white, and had his arms out-streached..as if to say: " come unto me, all ye that are heavy-laden.. and I will give you rest"..and he was standing there..on a cloud!!! .......Looking right at the photographer! I'm completely serious..I saw the picture with my own eyes. and even held it and looked intently at it for awhile..Right then and there I believed in Jesus..and still do..completely.Amen. Anyway, that's my story, I wanted to share. It was truly remarkable.
  19. It seems to me that Geddy hasn't really been playing aggressively since the Power Windows album. I enjoy hearing him play the melody and throwing in a triplet here and there. On their albums from Counterparts to S&A, he's been more into holding down the bottom end or just riding the same note. Listening to Caravan, I'm hearing the old Geddy Lee sound/style. I sincerely hope he sticks with it! Nick managed to get Neil out of his shell. Hoping he does the same with Geddy on the upcoming album. Just thinking out loud here. Thoughts?
  20. Necessary evil, but I abstained from voting 'yes' due to the 'they deserved' it caveat. Who voted for 'What happened on 8/6/45'?
