  1. It really didn't dawn on me they played the five songs from Power Windows in Phoenix until I read this thread. The show, especially the first set, was extremely refreshing after seeing many of the same songs multiple times. That being said I could really dig seeing Mystic Rhythms and New World Man again, I would also love a Weapon.
  2. I was curious about this too! I went to three merch stands at the Phoenix show and no cigar. Hopefully the online store will have them back in stock soon since they have all the others.
  3. Surprised no one's mentioned RPWL (or maybe I missed it, or maybe you've already heard them? ) Just remembered them and am currently spinning their new album. They're from Germany and originally formed as a Pink Floyd cover band before making their own stuff. RPWL - Welcome to the Machine (live) Yes, THAT Welcome to the Machine.
  4. A two day festival.... Day 1 Yonder Mountain String Band Dave Matthews Band String Cheese Incident Phish (circa 1997) Allman Brothers Band (with Duane) Day 2 .moe Umphree's McGee Widespread Panic New Riders of the Purple Sage Grateful Dead (circa 1972 or 1989)
  5. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Apr 24 2012, 12:42 PM) Makes me really wish he was still in Yes. Agreed. I saw John's recent solo tour. Just amazing. Nearly three hours of just him singing, playing guitar/piano/ukelele/some sort of asian(?) lute thingy. Chris Squire has said he's open to Jon returning to the band, but not until touring for the "Fly from Here" album is finished. For sure I'm tired of them using guys from cover bands. Not sure if I want to see them this fall, but will probably go for Procul Harum.
  6. Hey brotha, not sure if these are "Retro" enough might be a little more metal, but some recent tunes I've been digging for awhile: Blackfield - another project by PT's Steven Wilson O.S.I. - Jim Matheos (Fate's Warning); Kevin Moore, Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater); Sean Malone (Cynic/Gordian Knot) O.S.I. - "The New Math (What He Said)" O.S.I. - "O.S.I." O.S.I. - "Free" Gordian Knot - Project by Sean Malone whose lineup has at times included Steve Hackett, Bill Bruford, John Myung, and others. As stated previously in the thread, Opeth's newest album is very old school, and trippy music video to boot! Another previously mentioned artist, but no linky. Great song. The Yellow Moon Band - found these guys back in the good ol days of the Interdimensional Vortex. From what I know this is their only album, but its some great sounds. I'll keep an ear out....
  7. QUOTE (Tick @ Apr 24 2012, 12:21 PM) "Sept 4th in LA & Sept 6th in NYC...mark your calendars, save the dates & book your flights! Info coming soon... : )" Hoping it has something to do with Flying Colors. I would love to see them live someday!

  9. QUOTE (goose @ Dec 1 2011, 09:09 PM) QUOTE (progrush2112 @ Dec 1 2011, 05:21 PM) IMO, they may have sold out. To me some of their 80s stuff still has progressive leanings. Like I would still consider "Land of Confusion", "No Son of Mine", and the Duke album, to be more prog than "That's All" or "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight." They did seem to be "throwing it all away" toward the end... Not that they're later stuff is bad by any means, I still listen to and enjoy it, but I do agree -- times change, sound changes! Unless you are AC/DC.

  11. Going to my first Dream Theater concert on Sunday. Not an Evening With, no Portnoy, but I am excited nonetheless!!
  12. Just got Heritage yesterday. Wowie zowie that's some cool stuff!! Got to watch the documentary when I can find the time!
  13. Well I liked their music and am sad I never got to see them live. They had some great songs over the years, in my opinion! Orange Crush Stand Losing My Religion Shiny Happy People Drive Man on the Moon The Great Beyond Everybody Hurts What's the Frequency, Kenneth I will agree they did go downhill in the late 90s, and by the time I checked out the 2008 album "Accelerate" I thought they were pretty much done. It didn't hold a flame to the earlier stuff.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jul 31 2011, 03:49 PM) Also remember peeps, I have about 90 archives shows available here: http://www.kskq.org/index.php?option=com_c...&layout=default I have about 60 more I still have to upload from 2007, 2008 & 2009 that will be coming in the next few weeks! When can we expect the super limited collector's complete collection edition CD/DVD box set with studio outtakes and 5.1 surround sound? jk..excited to hear the old stuff again!
  15. I love the original, it will always come first. But my first time hearing the Frampton version was live and it was amazing, especially what he does with the talk box. Both are good in my book.
  16. QUOTE (Scars @ Jul 30 2011, 02:19 PM) It was a tough decision between WTA and Faithless, but I went with Faithless. What would I replace it with? Anything. Realistically, something from one of the untouched albums this tour, probably "Test for Echo." This. ...And I kicked Faithless out. Not that it is a BAD song or anything - it's still
  17. Holy epic thread Batman! This was a toughie. Welp, I would have to say.... The Who, if they were playing Tommy. (the one I actually went with) Zappa, if it was with the Zappa in New York lineup...or just Bozzio playing drums. Zeppelin would be epic. Beatles would be epic. Especially if they did Sgt. Peppers. Pink Floyd with or without Syd, I'm not picky. TOO MANY AWESOME CHOICES!
  18. Saw it tonight. I thought it was very good! Highly recommend it.

  20. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jun 14 2011, 12:44 AM) QUOTE (progrush2112 @ Jun 10 2011, 03:01 AM) -Stratoviarius: Elysium (still need to check out) Listened through it a couple of times. I'll be honest, there are only a few Stratovarius songs that I enjoy and listen to consistently. The epic on this record wasn't enjoyable - pretty repetitive. The first track, however, is just outstanding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7OmLxD1liI Wow.. Thank you for reminding me of this! No prob. Thanks for the link. Big Strato fan here, still waiting for them to come to Phoenix!

  22. QUOTE (Ozy @ Jun 5 2011, 11:49 PM) I really wanted to figure out a way to see if I could get Neil to sign the head of the TM snare. What I would do is mail a drumhead to the venue of your choice for Neil to sign, hope you get it mailed back to you, and then change the head yourself.
  23. Bravo Kenneth! Good stuff! Edit: (And I thought this thread was gonna be about the actual album cover! )
