    SOCN

What kind of mushrooms do you consume before talking politics? I'd like to know so I can avoid them should I ever get into mushrooms. Or politics. And as far as "Everyone I talked to when I came back in PM’s agreed," umm, how many people is "everyone," like, two? Your only two sympathizers in SOCN? Is that supposed to affect me in some way? I'm sure you're aware of what the SOCN rules state about bringing conflicts from that section out to the rest of the board, like you're doing here? Probably around 20. And no one denies the double standard or that I was the one opposing the racism. Right? 20? Yeah, no. If you had that many allies in SOCN you'd still be in there. That number more accurately reflects the number of people who asked that you be booted from there. And unlike you, I'm not making that up. As for the racism you claim to have fought, you saw racism and/or sexism in anyone who didn't conform to your very narrow and extremist political views. You were a radical SJW before the term became fashionable, and you're a good representation of what's wrong with politics in the U.S. now. There's no more middle ground, no nuance, no compromise or working together to solve a problem. It's just teams, and all they care about is their team winning. Good policy that helps the people whom they work for? Not as important as beating the other team. And you represent that perfectly. Now, what do you hope to accomplish with bringing all this up in the Rush section 2-1/2 years after being permabanned from SOCN? I haven't been in SOCN in years but unfortunately this description applies equally to both sides in politics at large these days.
  2. Ya! How wonderful to see you!
  3. Exactly, the rest is just trivia. Who the frack is/was Lindy Young? Lindy Young is Mrs Geddy Lee's brother.
  4. Please explain. Some thing I read a few years ago...might have been an excerpt of Sammy Hagar's book. He said that Ray was looking to get a 'better singer' for Rush about the time he joined VH. Honestly, Rush's songs would've sounded better with Sammy. I like his voice a lot. Though I do have trouble imagining him singing some of Neil's lyrics: "Everybody got to deviate from the norm" But what the hell was up with Ray Daniels and Ged? Didn't he actually fire Ged in the early days? Then you're saying he tried to get Ged replaced AFTER they just had massive AOR success with MP? Anyways, Ged's studio vocals got better as time went on, so at least there's that. BITE YOUR TONGUE!
  5. Great thread, Lorraine! I'll be back.
  6. Cuz 120 degrees inside ain't enough? If the crocheted mask is hot the person making it is using the wrong yarn. Light cotton yarn is key.
  7. I have a friend who crochets those masks. She puts a pocket for a filter on the back and it works well.
  8. Ducky, I do not understand what you're getting at. You keep saying that Andy Summers is older than just about anyone else on the music scene. Charlie Watts is older than Andy Summers, and Charlie Watts is on the music scene. So I'm not sure where there's a "but" to attach to that, it's a fact! It's okay though. This isn't the first time I have failed to understand the twists and turns and subtleties of the mind of the arboreal waterfowl. But I understand the important parts! Incidentally, Grace Slick is older than all of them, but she's retired and thinks elderly rock musicians are ridiculous, so I don't think she counts as "on the music scene".
  9. I loathe Dust In The Wind. It's in my bottom 10 "Classic Rock" songs. Dream On isn't my favourite Aerosmith song but it's better than that faux-deep mopey shite.
  10. Hey it's interesting to note that Andy Summers is a lot older than the other two. Sting and Copeland are 67 and 68 but Andy is 77, which makes him older than Jagger and KEEF and only six months younger than Paul McCartney. He's also older than Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and just about everyone else in the music scene apart from Ringo Starr Apart from Ringo Starr and Charlie Watts! :P
  11. Neil was not a subtle kind of guy, but he was, thank goodness, a little more subtle than that.
  12. Happy birthday, you miserable old git
  13. I love the whole record but I’m going to give a nod to Tears because it’s the only one of those soft ballady early songs that works for me.
  14. Proving once again that it's a darned good thing Rush was forced into upgrading their lyric-writing drummer!
  15. I'll bet Geddy was thinking of the charitable cause as the main thing, it was nice of so many Canadian artists to appear. But yeah, we all know there is the Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson etc tier of artists and then there are others. Geddy is a good sport! And I'm not gonna lie, seeing him sing again did something nice for my heart.
  16. Here we go again. I'll tell you what you do the next poll and meanwhile I'll find a bunch of albums that you don't put in and post videos in the thread instead. :bang bang: Be nice! Your thing is polls, RFF's thing is tangential trivia. It's fun!
  17. So many! Never mind picking a favourite, I wouldn't be able to do it, but Homeward Bound is the very first song that I have a distinct conscious memory of hearing. I was 4 or 5 and it's one of the few things I can think of that makes me actually remember the feeling of having an experience as a small child.
