  1. Hey guys! It has been a while since I've posted here, I have just been busy with life. But I have come to share a game that my friends and I often play. I am 22 and live in Indiana and go to a commuter college here. Luckily I have a group of friends who are ALL into Rush. Like, all 6 of us could fire off a top 10 favorite Rush album list on the spot. Anyway, we have come up with a game. The game is imagining that you know a person who has never heard Neil Peart play drums. The purpose of the game is to describe the most important thing that you can think about Neil. It's the one thing that you can tell somebody about Neil. It has to be one thing though. It doesn't have to be one word. So the game would look like this... Me: Neil Peart game, lets go You: uhhhhmmm, high-hat stops Me: Cymbals You: Oh God, lyrics... Yea. So, Neil Peart game, lets do it
  2. QUOTE (rushlady23 @ Jul 21 2012, 08:50 AM) Bastards! I'm glad I don't have anything worth stealing, but it would still piss me off if somebody broke into my car just to find out. Yea. This happens to me often :/ Seems like somebody will smash in my drivers side windows and not find anything.
  3. I enjoy the Synth period just as much as the era of epics. I especially love Power Windows and Hold Your Fire. Beautiful melodies. I am a huge fan of Alex's arpeggios tying Geddy and Neils romping around together. Geeze, in there between Geddy constantly being on the keys, he plays that damn bass so well. Just romping around those chord changes like a boss lol
  4. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Jan 22 2005, 02:38 AM) QUOTE (RushGuru @ Jan 21 2005, 09:38 PM) Oh Garage this is hard. There are great songs on every one! I had to choose Different Stages though. Last Spring Break I drove all the way to mexico with just Disk 1 of DS. I couldnt believe i forgot all my music! I must have listened to that disc 200 times all the way through. I memorized what every fan screamed and when they screamed it. I memorized everything. Now whenever i listen to different versions of the songs i always expect the fans to scream what they did in DS disc 1. I devoloped almost a spiritual connection with that music. I fell in love with it. I appreciated Rush more than i ever did before. I couldnt have made it through that vacation without that disc. Thank you Different Stages disc 1. Your sounds will be imprinted on the back of my skull forevermore. Sounds like my trip to NY for the week last winter. I coulda sworn I packed a travel cd case full of cds, but the only one that I fought I had with me was what was in the cd player when I boarded the train. Needless to say, I dont think I can listen to Yes's Fragile without thinking of NY. Hooooowwww caaaannn ttheeee wiiiind with its arms all around me! I feel lost in the citaaaaayyy.
  5. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ May 23 2012, 08:31 PM) I think it'll be interesting because it's not something you hear much these days (unless a lot of bands I don't follow are doing this, and I'm just clueless). I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of reflecting on my own life when I hear it, which is always insightful.
  6. QUOTE (CruisingInPrimetime @ Mar 12 2012, 10:20 PM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Mar 12 2012, 10:13 PM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Mar 12 2012, 08:56 PM) That's great. However, I wouldn't call Rush "prog pioneers". If Rush aren't prog pioneers, I have no idea who is! King Crimson, Genesis, Frank Zappa, Yes. Rush played as much of a role as these bands or more in the development of prog , but they came in a little too late to really be called "prog pioneers."
  7. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Feb 26 2012, 11:00 AM) QUOTE (Phantom @ Feb 26 2012, 06:19 AM) Neil's drumming has become less agressive as he's aged. That's true. But I'm not sure it's simply a matter of age. I've always said that Alex doesn't get the same kind of recognition that EVH, Satch or Vai gets mainly because he plays within the structure of the song. He only plays what the song demands, and doesn't get flashy or ham-fisted. Neil, I think, is very much the same way. Even in their younger days, when he was more aggressive, it never overpowered or detracted from the song. The songs they've written, pretty much since the 80's, have been less proggy, less agressive on the whole. Neil's drumming has reflected that. He still displays tremendous talent, but it's not as aggressive as it used to be, IMO.

LOL I'm in Noblesville. Nevermind. Why you a Hoosier fan? Hoosier basketball is on the fast track back to prominance. West side Indy!
  9. Thought to myself one afternoon... "Surely there has to be a Rush message board!" Here we are today.

  11. Me and 8 or 10 of my friends have been celebrating Rush Day December 21st the last few years. 24 hours of rush!
  12. Thats a shame. I graduated in 2010 my principal loved rush. Many a days were spent in his office jammin Rush
  13. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Nov 1 2011, 11:52 PM) I pulled out the remastered 20 Greatest Hits of Jim Croce tonight. Wow! These tunes never get old. Jim was one of the best. Would you agree? R.I.P. His wife owns a very nice restaurant in the Gaslamp District in San Diego.
  14. Vapor Trails is a killer album. I would love to see it redone. The only problem is that it tends to start sounding like sh*t. That's my only complaint.
  15. QUOTE (gatorbass @ Jul 9 2011, 08:03 PM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 9 2011, 08:00 PM) Best 80's - Either Signals of Permanent Waves. I can't decide. Best 90's - Counterparts +1. Signals is the ultimate synth Rush album, but Permanent Waves is so all around good that it has to rank at least top five of all time. 90's Rush doesn't really do it for me, but Counterparts had the better songs of that decade. Power Windows rules all synth Rush albums
  16. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 10 2011, 02:16 PM) QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 10 2011, 11:48 AM) I've said it many times, f***ing detune. It'll work wonders. dont like it. wasnt a fan of Circumstances detuned. Because it was played waaaaayyyy to slow.
