Just entered early for VIP shopping and boys were sound checking Losing It with Ben Mink. Sweet, 24th show since Signals tour and I can finally hear it live - life is good!

Rush in Rio = CBS Can't Be Saved, sorry but try R30, S&A, TM & CA...

Sorry to hear that. I have 4 kids ranging in age from 12 to 20 and I've managed to take each one in the last 7 years individually to a Rush show. I found some reasonably priced tickets (albeit in the nose bleed section) for the Portland show next month but this is the first time the entire family (all 6 of us) will be at a Rush show together and it will probably be the last for all of us, even me (show #25). Fortunately, the wife and I are in the 3rd row in front of Alex but I digress. It will be a life long memorable night for all of us and something to look back on and talk about in the decades to come hopefully. The magnitude of this event is greater than most people could realize but is not lost on me. It is one of the things we tend to see more as we get older in that all great things do come to an end eventually so, Carpe Diem!

I got an idea, why don't you just stalk them like the other Rush fans do and you can meet them for free :drool:

If you get a chance to see Roger Hodgeson somewhere on his own do it! He doesn't come around that often but seems to like this one casino out here in Washington and has been here for one gig the last several summers or so (maybe not every year but close). I got to see him last July 3rd and he has not lost anytihing! Always wanted to see Supertramp but never did and this was almost like it would have been in 79'! He was simply brillant and the tickets were cheap and seat was close :drool:

The more that I think about it what will probably happen is they will decide the location solely based on convenience of scheduling a shoot. Seems it is often easier to do that than overthink which particular venue might be "the perfect place". I believe just about every crowd will be worthy and put in a strong display. The boys usually have no problem rising to the occasion as well.

Ok, so the last decade and a half worth of tours have resulted in a DVD/Blu Ray releases. I can't imagine that this one will be any different. In fact, if it is the last one hopefully it will be their magnum opus but people can argue about that some other time Anyway I was just interested in seeing what others thought as to which show or shows would be "The One". I'd be shocked iof it were any of the earlier shows as they have preferred to tour awhile and get the kinks workled out before such an undertaking. My guess is that it will be one of the last few shows and maybe even the last one in L.A. since it is a big market and close to home for Neil. My hope though is that it will be Seattle or Portland since I have up close tickets and after 32 years as a fan deserve to be in the dang videos! Any other thoughts?

Totally agree. Rio is a lost cause the only watchable thing from that is the Bio, The Boys In Brazil....

Unfortunately it still sucks. When it first came out I thought it was ok but after all of the following Tour show Blu Ray releases I can't stand the visual quality. Oh well, the last 4 releases are fine and Ill agree with previous posters that the 97' stuff is a great addition as well.

You hit the nail and the head with this. I couldn't agree more as it has been somewhat of a disappointment for me trying to really enjoy the TM & ClockWork Angels Blu Ray shows with theire great set lists and seeing how it is a step back in the wrong direction in the visual quality in the video production. Too bad, a missed opportunity in my opinion. Another note for disappointment is the Extras, etc. really have lost the humor for me when compared to what's on S & A. I feel they are getting bogged down in being too formulaic and hopefully will have a complete departure from this in any future works if we are so lucky.

After watching I feel that the video shoot of this concert ranks down there with Rio. It is way too dark (like U2 in Boston) and they seem to have done nothing to help out with this. I prefer the video aspects of R30, Snakes & Time Machine way more than this Blu Ray. I also found myself not laughing at any of the outtakes, etc. the way I had when first seeing the Snakes extras. Of well, it is nice to see some obscure live versions of songs not played in years :D-13:

Look, Rush has mentioned somewhere that they want to do this a little different (i.e. string section, bring out some older stuff, etc.) so lets just do that and do it right. That means just pick the best stuff they like playing from CA then play songs that many of us long time fans have either never heard or haven't heard in a long while. Such as, Finding My Way, Beneath, Between & Behind, Lakeside Park, Cinderella Man, Hemispheres (a chunk would be sufficient no need to do all), Jacob's Ladder, Analog Kid, Middletown Dreams,Second Nature (good with string section), Everyday Glory, Available Light, and a few other haven't been played to death songs. I would naturally expect Spirit of Radio, 2112 (intro) & Limelight to be played as well but could really go without all of the other concert staples played over the last few decades. I am really sick of Tom Sawyer being played every time as I have heard it live since my first show in 1982 and it is not their best or my favorite song so please if you are going to change it up then change it up as the casual fans are not going to be forking out the big $ for these shows!

I don't really think going gold for an album means what it used to as the only real way back in the day to get a good quality copy was to buy the album or maybe make a cassette copy of a friend's. Nowadays there are so many other avenues to "steal" the music in good quality form or in a form that quality isn't an issue that most non diehard fans will simply do that and put in on an IPOD without caring about the packaging thus the sales numbers do not reflect how many actually have the album - IMO

I wonder if clueless DJ had just heard that the tour starts in September and thought it was the album release date. I have not seen anything that would suggest otherwise on web as far as release date changing, etc.

Heard on the radio on the way into work that CA will now be released in September not June for some unknown reason. Sounds like BS and hadn't heard or seen anything remotely like this but can anyone confirm this? It would suck big time if true, thanks.

After viewing a few times I still prefer the Snakes Blu Ray. Just the whole combination of the set list and performance seem to make it more viewable. Also feel like they were trying too hard with this one on stage and in post production to make it "too perfect". Kinda like ESL way back when. I love that live album but was overproduced to make it sound too studio like versus All The World's which is just raw and they way it went down. Sometimes less is more. After all we want a keepsake of what we experienced at the shows and not necessarily what someone else thinks we want, at least in my opinion...

Yeah, not a big fan of Best Buy but they always have the new music DVD/ Blu Rays on the release dates and they are usually almost always on sale as low as anywhere you can get them online. Just got the new Lindsey Buckingham Blu Ray last Tuesday on release date for $16.99 which is only about $1.50 more than Amazon and without the wait.

Screw Amazon, just go to Best Buy, get the Blu Ray and go home and watch it. No need to wait for mail order to show up days after it is released.

Just got 10th row for Ridgefield, WA. show on Geddy's side but actual seating will be like 2nd or 3rd row due to curvature of seating arrangement. Last time there I had 6th row and that was right up to stage on end (1st row!). The best part is that tickets were $100 and not the $300+ VIP seats - sweet!!

To be totally honest the Gorge overall sucks. After many shows over the last 10 years here is what you have to look forward to. A long drive to get there from almost anywhere and a long drive back late at night unless you want to stay at the campground (aka District 9). Not too bad getting into the parking but a long walk down to the seating.Beautiful place to watch a show but after wards prepare for a long, long slow trudge uphill back to a packed lot (good luck finding your car) and then the longest wait to get out of the lot and back onto the highway for you long return home (for most people). One hint for those in the area that complained about traffic getting out of the White River Amphitheater, it ain't nothing compared to the Gorge and if you want to make it easy on yourself just enter and leave the WRA from the east and you will get in and out in a few minutes tops
