  1. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 18 2012, 10:16 PM) The overall concept is "Around the World in 80 days". But Paspatout and Mr. Fogg does NOT uses a ballon on Jules Verne novel! That was just an adaptation for the big screen.
  2. Wel, I was in Rio last Sunday and I do believe it would be great if that show had been filmed. It was like watching Rush in Rio on a 3D theater! Except that the guys played considerably better and more relaxed (they didn't missed a note this time!!), and the sound had a MUCH better quality this time. But I understand that a Rush gig is a concert for Amphitheaters. I don't think that a DVD where the audience is seated wolud be fun, but I think they should star consider filming a show on a place like the Red Rocks.
  3. Shawn is right, in the '70s they used to play the whole cong except for Part Five: Oracle - The Dream. They only played that one on the Test For Echo tour.
  4. QUOTE (FOH Lights @ Oct 18 2010, 06:13 PM) . So NO, no chance of seeing the guys there. Maybe Neil is going back home by motorcycle, hehe...
  5. Youre right, except for the economic reasons. Economy in Brazil is MUCH better now than it was in late 2002. By that time we were in an electorial period where for the first time the Left Liberals were going to take the government. Brazil was borrowing money from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to pay it's debts and everybody was very afraid of what coul'd happen with the then-new government of president Lula. Now we are on an electorial period again. President Lula will leave the government after eight years, and there's absolutely no definition if the next president is going to be a Left Liberal or a Right Liberal. However, nobody is worried. Brazil's expecte grouth for 2010 is about 10% (Chinese level grouth) social indicators have increased consistently, unemployment rates are low, economy is very stable and now we lend money to the IMF. However tickets are much more expensive this time. This is an important factor, despite the economic situation of the country.
  6. Yeah, but they played Afterimage OR Kid Gloves. Did they ever played all GUP songs on the same gig. Anyway, the songs are performed as indivisual songs, not a conceptual suite or a full album.
  7. The only tour they played all the songs of the most recent album was the Hemispheres tour, but the songs were played on a different order, mixed with the other songs, and Circumstances was not played on every show. They always refused to admit their albums had any kind of conceptual linkage between songs. This time they are not just presenting CWA as a conceptual suite but they're playing a full album just like it was recorded. Based on that, I strongly believe that the second set of the CWA tour will be the CWA suite. I think it's great if they do it like this. Of couse I'd prefer they to play the whole Hemispheres or the whole Power Windows. But even if VT or S&A are not a favorite for most fans, one of the reasons we love these guys is because they are still very confident on what they compose and play.
  8. I think they may enjoyed the Itaimbezinho canyon at the southern mountain range. It's very kind of Ghost Rider-like scenario, except that it is green! Heh! http://i1.trekearth.com/photos/39785/te377-itaimbezinho-08.jpg
  9. The guys from T4E (Brazilian fan club) created an space on their web forum to share in english informations about the Rush concerts in Brazil. If you wana come to the gigs or you just want to talk about Rush with a bunch of crazy fans, you are welcome! http://www.t4e.com.br/inEnglish/
  10. I think it would be quite harder to play his "rakking" technique in any other bass. The Fender JB is a heavy instrument with a great ammount of woods on it's structure, which gives it strong low notes and crystal clear high notes. So he can keep "slappin tha beiss" without loosing those strong lower notes. As they are a power trio, I think sometimes he tries to fill the harmony role, specially whem Alex is soloing. But he can not give up being the bassis of the band. But maybe some songs would be better with another type of bass. From the current setlist, song with repetitive notes (like Presto, Working Them Angels, subdivisions and CloserTTHeart) would be nice with a more balanced bass. (YYZ would sound better with a lighter bass -- the Steinberg would be just perfect!) and of course there are those sobgs that we would love to hear on the Rick. I love Fender JB. I have a 20 years old American JB myself and it is a fantastic bass. Indeed, it is the only fretted bass I still use.
  11. QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Jul 8 2010, 02:04 AM) On March 14 2010 the stage collapsed before a Guns N' Roses concert due to heavy rain and a small tornado. The Show was rescheduled to April 4. That was the least important incident in Rio at that momment. The city was severely hit by a catastrophic flood. A whole block, built on a hill, was swallowed by a mudslide. Worth worries but most of the gretest cities in the world have natural issues (with rain, snow, etc) and the whole world is suffering with the intesification of rains due the global warming. Apoteose has been a venue for great events for almost 30 years.
