  3. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Feb 1 2007, 10:44 PM) You may have noticed that the journalist from that wine magazine that interviewed Ged and Al blogged on his site recently they had a meal together in LA, and Ged and Al told him they'd be arranging a tour of a local vineyard when they play Milan in the autumn. This set my evil mind working - Imagine, if Neil refused to go, staying in his bus instead and blasting his brains out with red apples and the The Macallan, precipitating a major fight when Ged and Al get back. The row escalates, and Neil threatens to leave, not realising that at the vineyard, the boys met Charlie Watts and struck up a friendship. In a fit of rage, Geddy rings Charlie on his mobile, strikes a deal, then turns to Neil and in his best Donald Trump voice goes........"YOU'RE FIRED!" Neil looks on incredulously, says "Yeah, and who's going to drum tonight?" Ged looks him in the eye, a bitter, cold smile on his wine encrusted lips, and says - "Ciao - Using Grey Stone" 6 - 2 - 10 Let's be having you folks!!!!!!!

  6. QUOTE (progrush2112 @ Feb 1 2007, 07:38 AM) U2 is great. Another good band is Ash, who are from Galway I believe, but i'm not comepletely sure about that one. But yeah, they got some good stuff. Shite, leaving off Ash was a major snafu on my part - They're actually from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland. Van Morrison was also a major oversight on my part, as indeed were Therapy.
  7. QUOTE (GringoBBB @ Jan 31 2007, 06:54 PM) Glad to help and it keeps the thread alive..... yeah! Welcome to the Scramble GringoBBB, you and Johnny may well be credited with resurrecting this thread after a long illness. One thing though, when this gets going again seriously, we won't be half as nice as you were in terms of clues. Please understand, that's not a threat, more of a Distant Early Warning
  8. I've tried to cover all bases in terms of performers with some international profile. I look forward to being informed of the inevitable omissions!!. I'm taking 'Irish' to mean the island of Ireland. In deference to FloydFanatic, I should point out the following - The Edge was born in the UK, therefore U2 are ineligible Scott Gorham was born in the US, therefore Thin Lizzy are ineligible The Frames' guitarist Rob is Polish, therefore they're ineligible Horslips' Charles O'Connor is English, so they're ineligible Snow Patrol have Scottish members, therefore they're ineligible Bottom line, Boyzone win by default!!!!!! I'm still voting for Horslips though!!!!!!
  9. Vascillated bewteen the Manics and the Super Furries, went with the Manics in the end. OK, I'm going to do the Irish one tonight!!.

Jack? Re-rushed? I'm still trying to decipher mine!!!!!!!.
  11. The historicl legacy of The Beatles and Led Zep is undeniable, Floyd and Genesis are musical legends........but I voted for Queen, because I'm in that sort of mood.
  12. Some of the best contemporary music is coming out of Canada at the moment - The New Pornographers Broken Social Scene Destroyer (also in TNP) Neko Case (also in TNP) Spoon Final Fantasy (Owen Pollett, Arcade Fire collaborater)
  13. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jan 19 2007, 06:26 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jan 18 2007, 05:31 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jan 18 2007, 02:12 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jan 18 2007, 03:45 PM) hey, glad people will be tuning in. playing some requests tonight, plus a few tracks that are a little bit different. see you there! peace & love, gary Pat Metheny??? sorry, , but there will be a little bit of jazz... What jazz did you play then? Three tracks from Sun-Ra
  14. I've missed the last two, so I'll be in tonight to cast a professional ear on proceedings. See you tonight Peeps
  15. I've been subtly suggesting that May 29th is the date for some time now. I see no reason to change my mind, even though I hope I'm wrong. If I am wrong, I'll happily buy a beer for every TRF'er who shows up in The Orchard Inn, Letterkenny at 9pm on the night of release.
  16. Good morning - It's snowing, I'm cold and hungry, I've been fasting for two days and I'm off to the hospital in an hour for a colonoscopy. The doctor knows where he can stick his camera!!!!!!
  17. Have a good one Net-Falco!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. My favourite film of 2006. Here's the post I made the night I saw it. http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...children+of+men
  19. Went with Pulp, although I love the Kill Bill films and think Jackie Brown is actually very underrated.
  20. Typical, I go on holiday for a week and a Lizzy thread is started while I'm gone. I was lucky enough to see them live three times - Slane Castle 1981 (with U2 as support act) and the two farewell Irish dates in Dublin in 1983. I was also at the 10th anniversary 'Vibe for Philo' in 1996 which marked the first time Downey / Gorham / Sykes / Wharton reunited on stage. Eric Bell played a storming set of early stuff with his band as well. I wrote about an aspect of it HERE in the "Live show mistakes" thread. Coincidentally Riv, you get a mention by association in this one. I was lucky enough to meet Phil once, in 1984. he was playing in Waterford with the short lived band 'Grand Slam', I was at the venue with a DJ friend picking up some equipment, the band were soundchecking with a version of 'A White Shade Of Pale', Phil came down and asked our opinion of the sound!!!!!.
  21. I agree 100% with Ricky - Forgotten Sons is a monumental song, and because of it, I came close to giving the nod to "Script...", but as an album, Fugazi shades it for me. We've had this conversation before, but I remain a dyed in the wool fan of the Fish era (sorry Tick), as much for the lyrics as the music. "Son watches father scan obituary columns, in search of absent school friends". Brilliant.
  22. I streamed through iTunes, and apart from one four second dropout about half way through, the whole show came through loud and clear. Stellar job, some great music, further proof that the more I learn about music, the more I realise I know f**k all. God, I want to get back into the studio!!!!!.
