QUOTE (paganoman @ Sep 29 2007, 01:58 PM) QUOTE (ofsalesmen @ Sep 28 2007, 09:20 PM) There are so many nuances that I can gush over...
Bastille Day - the small guitar wail at 2:50
Freewill - pretty much the entire bass part at 3:03
Limelight - "the note" at 3:13... it sounds like the guitar is weeping
The Camera Eye - When Geddy goes deep at 9:46
Vital Signs - Neil's double bass drum hits at 4:12
Red Sector A - Alex's beautiful guitar lick at 3:35
The Enemy Within - Geddy's funky pops at 3:33
Red Lenses - when the bass synth goes really deep at 3:08, followed by Geddy's popping (I think a funky bass solo should've gone here over that great drum riff)
The Big Money - the arpeggiated synth sound at 3:08 and 3:17
Middletown Dreams - Alex's machine-gun strumming at 2:19
Force Ten - the little synth "burp" at 4:00
The Main Monkey Business - that deep drum hit at 1:19
MalNar - the bass slide at the very end of the song
Cool stuff!
I can't believe what you mentioned about Bastille Day. It's that quick guitar lead ending with the rhythm chord that's always been my favorite part of the song.
That's what this thread is about. It's about subtle sounds, nuances, hidden sound effects, or other instrumental 'events' that occur within the songs that may escape the casual ear. Getting specific to minutes and seconds is always appreciated so we can listen to what's described for ourselves.
Ahh live versions of Bastille Day drive me crazy because Alex doesn't play that one lick!
