  1. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Aug 28 2010, 03:54 PM) Deckiller's thread spurred me to take a look at Rush's songs and give 'em a ranking. So I made a quick spreadsheet and ran down each song giving it a score (from 1 - 10, 10 being the best). Interestingly this is the largest group with the same score. Here is a list of the songs that received a 10, I think from youngest to oldest: Anthem By Tor 2112 A Farewell to Kings Xanadu Hemispheres Circumstances The Trees La Villa Strangiato Spirit of Radio Freewill Jacob's Ladder Entre Nous Different Strings Natural Science Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ The Camera Eye Witch Hunt Vital Signs Distant Early Warning Afterimage Kid Gloves Red Lenses Between The Wheels The Big Money Marathon Middletown Dreams Mystic Rythyms Time Stand Still Open Secrets Prime Mover Lock and Key Mission High Water The Pass Ghost of a Chance Between Sun & Moon Alien Shore Test 4 Echo Earthshine Far Cry Armour & Sword Workin' Them Angels The Main Monkey Business The Way The Wind Blows Caravan BU2B There's no '10' on Signals?
  2. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Aug 27 2010, 04:37 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Aug 27 2010, 05:17 PM) I think she has talent. But I can't tolerate all the media coverage of her "problems". She's pretty much in denial and until she realizes that she ain't gonna improve. if she could stay off the sauce shed be a lot better off.. Speaking of denial, I saw the interview Lindsay's mother gave on the Today Show after Lindsay was released from jail. Dina Lohan has her head so far up her butt, it's pitiful. That woman is in bad denial, and as long as she's that way Lindsay will never get over her problems. I think Lindsay's father knows his daughter needs help, but he's not exactly a model parent, either. It takes tough love to help a child get through their problems. And yes, you go through a period of denial until you finally get your head out of your butt to see what's really happening. I've been there. On April 29, 2009, my son was arrested for breaking into cars at the local community college where he was a student. When the campus police, city police and county sheriff's department began comparing notes and unsolved cases, they linked 14 counts of burglaries on him. My son was stealing stuff to sell for money to buy drugs or he would trade it for drugs. One of the those he stole from was his very own aunt and uncle. The day after his arrest, my son began to wise up and realize the mess he was in. He began cooperating. I signed off on a search warrant, and the stuff he hadn't sold/traded yet was stashed away in his bedroom in our house. It hurts to say it, but my son was a wasted junky. He was pathetic. He had lost about 40 pounds in less than a year and there were a lot of crazy things were happening at our home that involved him - and eventually attracted the attention of the local police. Our neighbors didn't appreciate the frequent appearances by the PD at our home. We couldn't bond him out -- heck, it was $300,000. All those counts add up. Months later, I shook the hand of the judge who set the bond and thanked him for setting it that high. It was a blessing. The sheriff said I could get him out with a simple property bond. However, I didn't trust my son. I thought he was a flight risk or worse a risk to himself and us. The sheriff, a personal friend of mine, recommended that my son stay in the slammer so he could dry out from the dope. He said drying out while incarcerated is a heck of a lot more cheaper and sometimes more effective than putting him in some high-dollar rehab facility. So, my wife and I left our son in the county jail --- for three months. We told our son that he got himself in this mess and he was going have to be man enough to accept responsibility for his actions. And he did. He cooperated with the authorities on other cases, gave up a few names of people he was associated with (they're all serving time now), and began to dry out. When we finally got him out on the property bond after his arraignment on five counts of burglary and larceny of autos, he had gained 30 pounds and had a whole lot different attitude. He went straight into a halfway home (court-ordered) for three months and continued to progress for the better. The druggie that my son had become began to disappear and my real son slowly returned. After the three months were up, it was time for his hearing. There was no trial to this; it was a done case, and our attorney worked with the DA's office to come up with a plea deal: plead guilty to three counts of B&L of autos and pay restitution & fines (it cost us a good bit, but we did it). The DA's office recommended a seven-year suspended sentence, with my son to go to the state's Regimented Inmate Discipline program, a six-month boot camp for first-time felons at a youth correctional facility. The remaining counts, including those coming down against him in the next grand jury, were dropped. The six months were rough, but my son grew up in that time. He's 21 and a much better young man now. He came home six weeks ago and things are going well for him. While in prison he rededicated his life to the Lord and faithfully attends church. He has a job with a sheet metal company and is taking an online course with the very community community whose campus he was arrested on. And if he does well in the online course and doesn't get in trouble, the school said it would allow him to return to campus as a full-time student with probationary status. I love my son and I'm proud of the progress he's made. He's also learning how cope with life as a convicted felon. As for legal probation, he's on it for five years. He knows if he slips up during that time, he's got seven years waiting on him at the state pen. How does all of this relate to Lindsay Lohan? Her parents, especially her mother, need to show some tough love instead of making excuses for her and sending her off to another high-price rehab facility. Long-time incarceration might be the only way to straight her out. If Lindsay gets in trouble again, her parents need to say, "Tough shit. You got yourself in this situation. Grow up and learn the ways of jail because this is where you'll stay if you don't turn around your life." They need to let her know they're upset with what she's become, but encourage her to straight up. Linsday needs to "woman up," so to speak, and become responsible for her actions and her life. She really needs someone to some real tough love, not parents who run to the media blaming everyone but their child for everything that's gone wrong. Sorry for the long rant. If you don't respond to it, fine. Hardly anyone responds to my posts anyway. This was something that was bearing on my mind as I read this thread, and I thought I could get my point across with a quick post or two; I couldn't hold back any longer. This will be the last I'll say about it.
  3. QUOTE (Clue69Less @ Aug 27 2010, 08:57 AM) I bet you 2112 bucks you can't guess my pin number! Will you give me 2112 guesses ... and the first 2111 don't count?
  4. I don't wish death on Little Miss Lohan. I just wish she'd get her s*** together.
  5. Hanging out with Snow White at a father-daughter ball in Tupelo benefitting Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. "Snow White" is Makel Hutchins, a family friend and a past Le Bonheur patient. Makel, a high school junior, does a lot of volunteer and fundraiser work for Le Bonheur in northeast Mississippi. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs305.snc4/40588_10150256067840481_735495480_14490133_4974227_n.jpg
  6. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Aug 25 2010, 08:26 AM) QUOTE (tupelobarchetta @ Aug 25 2010, 09:12 AM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Aug 24 2010, 09:39 PM) QUOTE (tupelobarchetta @ Aug 24 2010, 09:27 PM) When I was a kid during the summer, my mom would ask me to watch 'Y&R' while she was at work. Every evening, I'd give her an update of the day's episode. I recall some of the old storylines involving the Brooks, Foster and Chancellor families. I went a stretch without watching 'Y&R' When I tuned in again, I wondered "Who in the heck are these Abbott, Newman and Williams people?" But I was reassured it was the same show when I saw that mean ole Mrs. Chancellor. I remember those original characters. I remember when Nikki Reed came onto the scene. She had an abusive father and a sister named Casey. She answered an ad about modeling with no experience necessary. Turned out to be a front for prostitution run by a woman named Rose DeVille. Jill Foster Abbott, turns out, is really Lauren Fenmore's sister. A few months ago, David Hasselhoff came back on as Snapper. Now, Julia Roberts brother Eric is on Y&R as a lawyer. I think one of the best storylines was when Jack and Jill's affair was exposed. One jigsaw puzzle piece at a time, John realized who the naked bodies belonged to when the last piece arrived showing Jack & Jill's faces. (For those of you unfamiliar with Y&R, Jack is John's adult son. Jill - the same one Circumstantial Tree referred to - is John's second wife and is about the same age as Jack. Yup, Jack was fooling around with his stepmom). Of course, as things would turn out in this drama, Jack later shot Jill. He went to trial, but was saved from a prison sentence when Jill made a passionate speech at the trial in support of him. One of my favorite characters was Ashley Abbott. She looked pretty hot for someone who was once a man. Isn't the sex change thing a rumor? It's a shame they can't bring Rose DeVille back though. The actress died several years ago. They did a flashback to when Rose took Nina's baby. Nina is now having Paul search for her son. Turns out he is a cop in Genoa City, but only a select few know. Yes, it's a rumor.
  7. Maybe if Lindsay Lohan had parents with a backbone and some sense, she wouldn't be the trainwreck she is today.

  11. QUOTE (crunch @ Aug 24 2010, 09:13 AM) I have really good memories of listening to 2112 and All The World's A Stage on 8 track... Used to kind of annoy me that sometimes songs had to segue from one track to the next, but I also remember not minding the trade off in sonic quality for not having to flip lp's... Of course, now, it's a massive TREAT to listen to the older parts of the catalog on lp... How many of the albums do you have on 8 track?!?!?! The first Rush album I heard in its entirety was 2112 on 8-track. A friend put it in the player while we were riding in my cousin's car. Good times, indeed.
  12. QUOTE (neil#2 @ Aug 20 2010, 10:17 AM) After that, I stripped down to my Batman underwear and got attacked by hot moms.. They couldn't decide which caped crusader actor they wanted, so they called me by all of their names.
  13. CD, DVD, BluRay, 8-track, whatever .... The band will release them because they know we'll buy them. They have us trained well.

  15. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Aug 20 2010, 09:00 AM) Mr. Krinkle - you look like a much cuter version of John Denver (whom I happen to have really liked). TB - how cool is that? I love the Tuohys and their story! GG - Leigh Anne Tuohy is super, super nice. The photo was taken at the end of an hour-long meet-and-greet. She was upbeat, friendly and smiling the entire time. She's the real deal. I was taking photos of her and others coming through the line for my weekly community news section. With no one else in line and about five minutes left in the time alloted for her to greet, I went up and introduced myself to her. I told her I interviewed her for the Ole Miss college newspaper back in fall 1981 (my freshman year, her senior year). She recognized my name because as a sportwriter I wrote a lot of articles that included her boyfriend-now-husband, who was the point guard for the Ole Miss basketball team. She said she clipped out the article I wrote that included her and put it in a scrapbook of her college years.

  18. Still have the MP shirt from '81, but as you can see I've sorta outgrown it. But give me a few beers at a meet-up before the Atlanta show and I'll slip it on for everyone's laughs and giggles.

  20. I saw Cheap Trick at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis and a second time opening for Aerosmith. One of my all-time favorite bands. Before the band played "If You Want My Love" in Memphis, Rick said: "I'm sure all of you know this next song. If you know the words, sing along with us. If you don't know the words, sing along anyway." In a world of Epic Fail, that's an example of Epic Cool.
