I'm here to announce the Tupelo Waves' retirement from the TRF leagues.
I enjoyed playing and being a part of a great bunch of good sports, but I've got too much on my real-life plate to play anymore.
I wish everyone the best of luck this season and in the future.

The guys should have extended CA by about three minutes so it would clock in at 69 minutes.

I would agree about "Xanadu" from ESL. I also like "The Pass" from Rush In Rio.

I voted for Natural Science, but I'm somewhat surprised there are no votes (so far) for Working Man.

Look up "Bobby Pepper" and friend me.

As of 10:30 a.m. CT, there are nine teams in the league. With an odd number of teams, we can't draft.
If there's still nine teams by 1:30 p.m., I'll delete my squad (TB Permanent Waves) so the draft can go on as planned. I have a team in TRF1.
UPDATE (1:31 p.m.) - Team deleted. Draft away and enjoy the season!

I went to the fantasy football page for the Yahoo account and saw where I had invites for both leagues - so I joined both. Glad to be back.

This is me now. Compare to the photo below - me 40 pounds and three years ago.

I just saw the invite and clicked the link, but couldn't get it. If the leagues are filled and locked, that's fine. If there's room in either league, please resend an invite. I'll do one team this year.

I say eliminate the conferences. Who really cares about playing for a conference championship ...
Keep six divisions, but under this setup:
North - Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto
East - Boston, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Philadelphia, New Jersey
South - Washington, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Florida, Nashville
Central - Minnesota, St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus
Northwest - Colorado, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg
Southwest - San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Phoenix, Dallas
The six division champions and 10 wild-card teams make the playoffs with basic playoff pairings (1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, etc.)

I appreciate the birthday wishes, everyone.
I've been through some tough personal stuff in recent months, but I'm feeling better about myself. Hope to catch the band in New Orleans, if things work out.

QUOTE (liquidcrystalcompass @ Dec 2 2010, 08:55 PM) Why aren't any of you commenting on the farce of what theh SEC is doing and in particular, what the NCAA is dong. Auburn, and every other team in the nation, has been given a free pass for parents to pimp out their kids.
Do any of you remember what happened to SMU football? With its decision, the NCAA has created the "Sgt. Schultz" eligibility loophole.
If the NCAA investigates an allegation of a player's parent/guardian asking for money, all the kid, the coaches and the college have to do to escape punishment is make like the character from "Hogan's Heroes" and say, "I know nothing!"

QUOTE (Mara @ Nov 29 2010, 08:59 AM) <mutter, mutter, gripe, whine, gripe, no Atlanta, gripe, bitch, piss, moan>
Okay. I'm over it. Looks like it will probably be Greensboro, though I may wait to see what the rest of the year holds - perhaps Atl. will be added. I got spoiled on my 3rd row seat last time and so don't want to take lame seats in back. But I can't really justify travel costs AND another high-price ticket for the same tour. After expressing my early excitement over the Nashville date, I've thought it over. I might wait until the rest of the schedule is announced before making a committment -- unless someone is sure she wants to meet up with me in the Music City this time. If that's the case, then Nashville it is.
It'd be nice to return to Atlanta since I had a great time at the show there in September. Kinda hoping for Memphis (only 90 miles from me) to show up on the upcoming leg, but I doubt it.

Show the deceased some respect. Don't call him 'Shirley.'

QUOTE (The Lost Xanadu @ Nov 22 2010, 08:34 PM) When you start singing the chorus of "In the Mood" at 7:45pm I heard 'In the Mood' and 'Nobody's Hero' on the radio for the first time yesterday.
Thank you, Sirius/XM, for playing real classic rock. It puts to shame the half-dozen alledged classic rock FM stations heard in this radio market.
You know you're a Rush fan when you occasionally update your Facebook status with Rush lyrics and the same 10 or so people click the 'Like' link each time. That's followed by someone clueless responding to the status, asking me if I'm on drugs.

QUOTE (Mara @ Nov 23 2010, 10:16 AM) A favorite George Carlin snippet:
"Ever wonder why no one ever seems to get laid on Thanksgiving? I think it's because all the coats are on the bed."I'll think about that comment when I push the coats aside to take my annual Thanksgiving nap in my old bedroom. Thanks, Mara.

Dear cute blonde Zumba instructor who attends my church,
You tempt me with your sexy smile and firm body, and I like it when you give me a tight, squeezing hug when I serve as a greeter. Everyone else gets only a handshake from me. Also, when you stand in front of me during the service, all my eyes want to do is check out your fine butt.
I'm so bad.
Sincerely,
Your friendly dirty old man

I haven't been on much since the Atlanta show. I could say I went through Rush burnout or my work has picked up. But to be honest, my life since then has turned into the Eagles' song "Take it Easy." I got a world of trouble on my mind.

Not only do we enjoy Thanksgiving at my parents' home, we throw an early birthday party for my paternal grandmother.
My grandmother turns 94 this year. Here's a photo of her from last year's birthday.
She loves her gospel music and her ball games on TV. We give thanks for every day this great lady is with us.

Good Monday morning to everyone.
It's nice to be posting on TRF again after coping with a few personal matters the past month and a half.

QUOTE (tupelobarchetta @ Aug 20 2010, 07:47 AM) I have a feeling the Vikings' season and Favre's career will not have a good ending. Karma's a bitch, isn't it Brett?
Happy Birthday, JD!
