  1. QUOTE Cop A: "I've been trying to get you all night. Why don't you answer your f***ing beeper?" Cop B: "I just want to tell you, that the next time I'm suspended, so is my F***ING BEEPER!" Lethal Weapon? (don't make me guess which one, eh?)
  2. Beneath, Between And Behind Ten score years ago, defeat the kingly foe (TAKE THAT KING GEORGE III !!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  3. Ooh! Good one, Donal! I wouldn't have guessed that in oh, about a dozen years!
  4. I wonder if this one will raise any controversy?
  5. That's cool, Jack! I like this part: Suppose you had a personal spaceship. Here's your mission: Tonight, at midnight, blast off and fly down the middle of Earth's shadow. Keep going until you're about 200,000 miles above Earth, almost to the moon. Now turn around and look down. The view from your cockpit window is Earth's nightside, the dark half of our planet opposite the sun. But it's not completely dark! All around Earth's limb, the atmosphere glows red. What you're seeing is every sunrise and sunset on Earth--all at once. This ring of light shines into Earth's shadow, breaking the utter darkness you might expect to find there. Turn off the cockpit lights. There's a lovely red glow. Cool!!!!
  6. Let's share our recommendations for movies that others may have missed. Perhaps a flick or two out of the mainstream. An overlooked classic, an obscure B-movie. A box office bust that just couldn't find its audience. I'll start: The Man Who Would Be King - Sean Connery, Michael Caine 1975 A rousing, old-fashioned fun tale of ambition, empire, and that most special quality, British wit and humor. Based on a tale by Rudyard Kipling, this movie tells the story of two enlisted men in Her Majesty's Service (or was it HIS Majesty?) who get ambitious and decide that making themselves kings is the only course worthy of their lofty talents. Some of the pacing is a little slow by today's standards, but bear with it. It'll be worth your while IMO.
  7. Quite a cash cow, these LOTR DVD's. I'm sticking with my "basic" 2 disc editions of each flick. I wonder how much cash one could drop on the most elaborate versions of all three of these flicks? Probably most of a weeks pay, I'd imagine.
  8. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Oct 17 2004, 11:15 PM) Next: Cop A: "I've been trying to get you all night. Why don't you answer your f***ing beeper?" Cop B: "I just want to tell you, that the next time I'm suspended, so is my F***ING BEEPER!" Rush Hour?
  9. QUOTE (Rivendell @ Oct 16 2004, 08:55 AM) I love Natural Science. It has to be the second biggest thrill for me at a Rush concert. The biggest was hearing The Analog Kid on the CP tour. Back then the internet wasn't as huge, so the set list was never known before the show. When they busted into TAK I almost had an out of body experience. This was when I was still in High School and had only discovered them from fellow drummers a couple of years earlier...so at that period they were the mightiest of God's in my eyes. At this point and having many friends in the industry I know I will never have that feeling again to that extreme. Crazy. Natural Science is a real close second...hell who am I kidding, there's no way to have a favorite or second favorite Rush song. If you think you do you are subconsciously letting yourself be fooled because you are tired of pondering the question. Anyways, back to the point...as if I ever touched on one....I'm glad they don't play The Analog Kid and NS every tour. If they did those moments that are memories would lose some sort of credibility. For example....I love the setlists they produce, but the songs that are the staples don't do much for me anymore. I couldn't be happier that they ditched Closer To The Heart. Let me put it like this, and you know what I mean. At a Rush show there are songs that just drive you crazy with excitement , "can't stop moving" ... and there are others that you love, but you're cool with using them as your catch your breath time. For F's sake, am I making any sense to anyone? Not a lick a sense, ya addled bozo!
  10. Calling Donna! We need a quote. I see ya out there. So, please confirm Jack's guess.
  11. QUOTE (daveyt @ Oct 15 2004, 11:50 PM) i want to see TEAM AMERICA! Umm........ me too, but........ I was disappointed as well that they dropped NS, but still loved the R30 setlist!
  12. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Oct 15 2004, 01:00 PM) QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Oct 15 2004, 12:06 PM) I'm waiting on the official OK from Donna. Don't want to seem rude. ......never stopped ya before.
  13. Sounds like a real shoe-in for a slew of Oscars, eh? But I AM looking forward to seeing Ms. Simpson in those "daisy dukes" and shirts tied around the waist. Yes, I'm a dog.
  14. Good for him. He always seemed a class act.
  15. This is great news, Jack! Thanks a smitload for letting me know about this. I know what I want for my anniversary! This was an early effort by Australian director Peter Beresford, who went on to direct "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Tender Mercies", among others. It was also one of the first films for Edward Woodward and Bryan Brown. For anyone who hasn't seen this flick, it has everything. Tense, courtroom drama, action, literary content, humor, history, and social and political commentary. An absolute must-see IMO.
  16. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Oct 14 2004, 10:37 AM) At least Naomi Watts is in it again. I liked "The Ring," but it didn't creep me out as much as I wanted it to. I still might see this. Yeah. I really expected the first one to be more.... well, scary. It had its moments. This new one looks good.
  17. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Oct 14 2004, 05:08 PM) QUOTE (BSG @ Oct 14 2004, 07:11 AM) Lazenby was OK. Never really cared for Brosnan (or it might just have been the flicks). So, who might he have been talking about? Matt Damon? Ben Stiller? Anyone have any other ideas? (Not that it matters, I guess. This series has run its course, IMO.) Might have been the flicks. Goldeneye was by far the best of his 4 movies, it had the best storyline and a feel to it that the others didnt have. The last 3 seemed like big budget action flicks using the Bond name with fairly poor acting outside of Brosnan's character. Goldeneye used relativly low name actors at the time that did a very good job in thier roles, Famke Jansen notably has gotten pretty far from taking that role. Sean Bean was also a perfect cast as a villain for Bond, very appropriate. It was also much more story driven and much less focused on huge explosions everywhere. It just had this darker feel to it that was incredible IMO. Ok, thanks, Moon. I'll check out Goldeneye again.
  18. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Oct 14 2004, 11:16 AM) Does this mean I can start sporting 3 day stubble again? I never stopped.
  19. Umm.......... why? This show seems to be merely a product of its time. A quaint anachronism. A relic of the 80's. Oh well, whatevuh!
  20. Shoot J.R.? I wish they'd shoot the joker who came up with this one.
  21. Lazenby was OK. Never really cared for Brosnan (or it might just have been the flicks). So, who might he have been talking about? Matt Damon? Ben Stiller? Anyone have any other ideas? (Not that it matters, I guess. This series has run its course, IMO.)
  22. QUOTE (SCREAM @ Oct 12 2004, 10:18 PM) QUOTE (BSG @ Oct 12 2004, 05:54 PM) Tampa rocked! SCREAM, Snowie! We need to have a Florida reunion one of these days! Let's see what we can put together. Maybe hang at the Hard Rock in Tampa, or Orlando one of these nights. I'm in...I have the party-zone here complete with kick-ass digital sound system and rows and rows of concert DVD's, including several Rush goodies. I'll get Q and Mrs Q to come down also Hello to my buddy Snowdog Ok, let's go to Scream's house. Scream, got beer? Got home-owner's insurance?
  23. Good going Donna! You ladies gonna give us dudes a chance sometime soon?
