  1. I don't know. Yes they are playing other cities but if this is to reach fans that didn't see them the first time around, how come ticket sales are lagging? I think that Rush fans will travel more so than fans of some other bands. I sense a growing sense of disinterest amongst many long time fans. There is no reason not to change up the set list at least a little. They have such an extensive catalog to draw from. A different set would probably get me to make the trip from Toronto to Hamilton. And I am very happy for all of you who are seeing them for the first or second time. They put on a heck of a show. I guess like HigherWater, I am just another jaded older fan.
  2. I have to admit I am disappointed and quite frankly uninterested in this tour. By the way, I thought the first post exuded sarcasm for what its worth. I have followed Rush and seen them live since 1975. If they are actually going with zero set list changes this time, to me that smacks of "laziness" and opportunism. For the first time I can remember, I have little interest in going to see them. Call me a hater if you like, but you will find very few on this board who have been a fan longer than me. And I will state that Rush has been a very important part of my life for a long time.
  3. I don't know. I would probably contact their management and tell them you have $3000 for one of their favourite charities if you can get in on the meet and greet at your local venue.
  4. I swear I read an article in The Toronto Star this morning that listed Rush as a presenter at this year's Juno awards. I tried to find it on their web site but could not. Was I seeing things early this morning or did someone else see it also?
  5. Depending on your budget and since you are flying in to the show and have no kids, you probably have a little disposable income, I would stay at a nice hotel downtown and cab it to the show. Downtown Chicago is great as a tourist. Lots to do besides the concert.

QUOTE (rusher @ Feb 17 2011, 02:44 PM) QUOTE (Syrinx @ Feb 17 2011, 02:08 PM) Rusher - where have I misread a thread?? if you have been on this forum for a few years you would have seen that any attempt to do business or to draw attention to auctions is frowned upon by a lot of people, regardless of price asked. It somehow sullies this board. And there is a real resentment among many when someone asks a high price for something they own. Like that should really bother you. All I am saying is I would prefer a seperate site, where there would be no backlash and the sole interest would be to buy, sell or trade. Yes, you're right. Once I have been on these boards as long as you have I will have gained the profound wisdom of how message boards work. It's a lofty goal, but I will try. And really, you talk in circles. You say in the other thread "why does anyone get uptight when they see someone selling something for a high price? It is a free world." That really doesn't jive with your post here, does it? And I agree with your last sentence. Never once did I or anyone else in the other thread even hint that such a board should not be created. Why do you and Rummut keep inferring that one of us did? Last post because we are not in sync here. You are obviously very sensitive. In no way did I infer that I had some great wisdom for being a member longer than you. The mere thought that years on a Rush Forum would somehow give one wisdom is laughable anyway. I merely stated that I have seen people get upset over attempts at commerce numerous times. Believe it or not. And I have no idea how you seem to think I am inferring that you and others don't want a seperate board for trading / selling. I could care less what you think. All I am saying is that I would prefer it to avoid getting people upset here. My opinion. My preference. Nothing at all to do with anyone else.

Check out the thread "My Rush autographs on Ebay" and you will see how people feel about doing business on this site. It should be a separate site altogether.

Great idea. I have bought and sold a ton of Rush stuff over the years. It would be nice to have a dedicated site. People here often get uptight when someone tries to do any business.
  10. Yes unfortunately that photo "signed" by Alex and Geddy is 100% not authentic.
  11. They did record a demo in a studio. And there are copies out there.
  12. Thanks for putting spoiler in the title. Can you imagine some of the members here who haven't seen the concert yet, if they actually learned what kind of shoes Alex was wearing? The horror!
  13. I say can the whole spoiler policy! If you are that obsessed with not knowing anything, don't go on to the internet and visit forums dedicated to the thing you don't want to know about. Really ridiculous.
  14. I somewhat agree. But I still loved the show! But more importantly, what are you guys doing on the tour section of a Rush forum in a thread entitled the first set sucks if you don't want spoilers. Seriously if you are so interested in not knowing anything, the best thing would be to avoid these Rush discussions. The whole spoiler thing makes me laugh.
  15. Why all the scepticism? Guess what. There are people who come on this and other forums, who actually have inside info. We regularly get the threads wondering if Geddy, Alex or Neil ever come on the forums. The funny thing is, if they ever did, they would be met with agressive scepticism and would probably never come back. I am not saying FOH or The Spere are one of the band, but like it or not, there are many people with inside knowledge, including crew etc, and some of them even dare to venture in here.
  16. They can play any song they like and I won't be tearing my hair out. Seriously, if you can't just go and enjoy this band for ALL the music they have given us over the years, then stay home.
  17. Last tour I paid $350 to sit at the end of row two. This tour $520! The problem is - and this is even worse - my friend paid $300 last time and got row 3 dead centre. I paid $50 a seat more, to sit two feet ahead of him but way over to the side.
  18. The auction for the ACC show just ended. Minimum bid for Row 2.......... $520!! I bid $240 and I think I am in row 6.
  19. Jethro Tull was boring in their heyday! Rush fans are funny. For months there was so much angst and whining about no tour info etc. Now we have a tour and there is angst and whining about ticket prices. When the tour starts there will be angst and whining about the set list. Just sit back and enjoy. The fact they are still doing this after 35+ years is a total bonus for this fan.
  20. Kim Mitchell has jealousy issues!? Where did that come from?? Kim interviewed Alex and Geddy for Q107, before the last tour. I was there and it was like old friends getting together. During the commercial breaks they were huddled together, laughing. I listen to Kim a lot on the radio and he has always seemed very respectful of Rush to me. Maybe he was joking around one time and it didn't come across to you as a joke, or something.
  21. I think it would be great to see Max Webster. In my own personal time machine, Max Webster opening for Rush is the best of memories.
  22. It is pretty simple. If the prices are too high, the venues will be empty. If they are full, the prices were right and maybe, gasp, too low. Supply and demand. I guess I am a capitalist, but the thought, as reflected by some, that a Rush ticket should be somehow less than the "going price", for some idealistic reason, doesn't make any sense to me. My first Rush ticket cost me $8.00. I will go see them in Toronto on this tour. People were paying a scalper I know, up to $1000 a seat this year, for a regular season hockey game between the Leafs and Canadiens. The lowly Leafs play over 40 games a year. Rush will come to town twice in a several year period. $150 or whatever I end up paying seems like a bargain to me. Unfortunately some fans won't be able to afford the show. That's life. There are many things I wish I could have, but unfortunately I cannot afford them. That's my life and I don't waste much time complaining about it.
