Hey everyone. It has been a while! When the whole web site changed, I got locked out and kind of disappeared. I just tried my old user name and password and it worked! I was at the Night for Neil. It was awesome. There were a few things I would have done differently, but kudos to the organizers for finally pulling it off. Just a note, the guitarist for Permanent Waves is in my band, so I had some inside knowledge of the behind the scenes happenings. Geddy and Alex were there, but apparently there is some politics going on - I am not going to start rumors so enough said. I thought the opening 2112 segment with the violins and electric cello was unreal. Dave Barrett is a long time associate of the band and an amazing player. I am biased but I thought Permanent Waves stole the show, only because they played some of the bigger hits. The deep cuts are great for the fanatics (of which there were many), but the crowd reaction to Freewill and Spirit of Radio exceeded anything that Solar Federation got in response. It was a nice mix of music and tributes. of course they played the US army version of Time Stand Still - gets me every time. It was nice that Neil's sister and brother came out at different points. Really glad I kept my tickets for 2.5 years!

They were freaking awesome! If I could figure out how to post pics / video, I would.

I am DYING to go to that show...but I need to figure out who can stay with our daughter, because the wife has other commitments. Syrinx, if not at that show, I would love to keep in touch and meet you at one of the upcoming shows in Toronto.
Sounds like a plan Rod!

If you are in Toronto, there is a Rush tribute band playing at the El Mocambo on Friday night. They are really good! We have a father / son guitar combo in our band and Eric the son is playing guitar at this show. He is extremely talented and nails Alex's parts. The drummer is Kim Mitchell's regular drummer.

I really enjoyed Genesis on this last tour. I thought it was a great show and Phil and the band seemed like they were having a great time. And the fans appreciated it, so who's to say it is wrong? As far as money, I believe Phil has some big divorce settlements, so he may not have as much left as we think.

Music is so important to me. I knew I wanted to be a drummer when I was 5 years old and hitting pots and pans with sticks from the back yard. I was in several bands through my early 20's but my parents brought me up right and the couple of chances to give it a shot, I stayed in school. I stopped playing for 20 years, had a couple of kids and then the urge hit again. Put an ad in the local newsletter looking for aging rock stars. We eventually formed a pretty good band and I will never forget the first gig at a local bar, packed with friends. What a rush! A couple of different bands later still going and loving it!

I wish Rock had decked him. The whole Smith family are candidates for most annoying family on the planet.

Fantastic news. What a time. The Prime Minister's wife acting as groupie back stage. Keith's heroin bust and the subsequent concert for the blind in Oshawa. I saw that one but unfortunately not the ElMo show.

Saw them in a little club on their first tour, with the original drummer. One of the highlights of my concert life.

This one hit me hard. Great drummer and seemed like a great guy. Both him and Dave didn't seem to let R&R stardom go to their heads. Condolences to his wife and three kids.

Were the guys as easy going as we think to work with? Were there ever any issues with ego or other difficulties?

If they could solve the tape stretch and tangle it would be great!

What an off season. So many teams blowing their brains out going for it. And of course Jerry is being very frugal.

I saw an Eminem interview a while ago and he was sitting in front of a wall of cassette tapes. Obviously a big collector of them. Like everything else it is nostalgia and many of the things we threw out or sold at a garage sale are now "collectable". I follow some big auctions and old sealed video games, VHS tapes etc are getting huge dollars now. There is an Ebay auction I have been tempted to buy with a lot of Rush albums on cassette - most sealed. Then I consider that I have no cassette player and have enough stuff. But they are cool!

A really amazing set! One of the best live recordings of the Stones.
