  1. Beauty is subjective, ability isn’t.
Lifeson at his best, in my opinion, was far more imaginative than EVH could ever be. Technique wise it’s a no brainer. There’s a level above Lifeson in terms of technique that he could never reach and there’s a few electric guitarists that inhabit that space; EVH, Vai, Satriani, Guthrie Govan for starters. However, ALL these pale in comparison to the likes of Segovia and other legendary classical guitarists.

  2. One of my all time favourite bands.
Saw them supporting Rush back in the day, hugely enjoyable set if a tad short. There was a program on each seat with a plastic sampler disc that I still own. Got all their albums on CD and had them all on vinyl. Mutiny Up My Sleeve and A Million Vacations are my favourites followed closely by Universal Juveniles.

Since my copy is coming in December at the Toronto show, I opted for the audiobook rather than buying a second copy of the book.

Folks, the audiobook is so good.  This is actually the first audiobook I've ever listened to, but hearing Geddy tell these stories himself (I haven't gotten to the parts where Al shows up yet) is really special.  He's a great narrator, and I love the Yiddish accents he uses for his family members.  It really brings things to life.

I listened for an hour before work this morning and I can't wait to get back to it...

I’m listening to the audiobook too.

I'm not finished the book yet, but the thing I've found most surprising so far is how many drugs there were in the Rush world.  I mean, it's been well-known and publicly acknowledged for a good 20 years now that the guys smoked a lot of weed, and Neil told the story of his teenaged acid trip in London a long time ago, but I'm surprised to find out how much coke they did in the late 70s and early 80s, to the point where Ged actually describes it as dependence.  I don't think that's ever been mentioned before now.

Lee says they were open to anything but speed and heroin.
