Beauty is subjective, ability isn’t.
Lifeson at his best, in my opinion, was far more imaginative than EVH could ever be. Technique wise it’s a no brainer. There’s a level above Lifeson in terms of technique that he could never reach and there’s a few electric guitarists that inhabit that space; EVH, Vai, Satriani, Guthrie Govan for starters. However, ALL these pale in comparison to the likes of Segovia and other legendary classical guitarists.- 2

Face Up is appallingly bad. Hand over Fist is shit and Virtuality is a cringefest.

Lights Out - UFO. The 2024 remastered edition. This actually sounds like an upgrade to a very fine album. Not usually very impressed by remasters and of course there’s been remastered versions of this album previously.
Very highly recommended.

My memory is bad. I saw them on the bill of the first ever Monsters Of Rock festival headlined by Rainbow.

I saw them live in Manchester, I think they were headlining a triple bill, and they were very proficient but not really my thing. I listened to Harder…Faster the other day and it was much better than I remembered.

One of my all time favourite bands.
Saw them supporting Rush back in the day, hugely enjoyable set if a tad short. There was a program on each seat with a plastic sampler disc that I still own. Got all their albums on CD and had them all on vinyl. Mutiny Up My Sleeve and A Million Vacations are my favourites followed closely by Universal Juveniles.- 3

Marco Minneman would be the perfect ‘neutral’ choice. Has the technical chops to pull it off without the baggage of a big name band.

That's nice dear.....I still have no intention of buying it...to clarify, I like Rush's music....I have ZERO interest in their lives outside of this.

I did the same and immediately listened to three and a half chapters before nodding off to sleep. Today the wife and I have a 15-hr drive from Nevada to the Canada-Washington border, so the audio book will get the full listen. Maybe twice!
I agree that it's great hearing Geddy himself tell these stories.
There’s quite a few f-bombs.

Are we going to hear new music from you and Alex? CygnusX5
Certainly, there will be new music from Alex and new music from me. Will there be new music from us together? I think it’s likely.- 1

Since my copy is coming in December at the Toronto show, I opted for the audiobook rather than buying a second copy of the book.
Folks, the audiobook is so good. This is actually the first audiobook I've ever listened to, but hearing Geddy tell these stories himself (I haven't gotten to the parts where Al shows up yet) is really special. He's a great narrator, and I love the Yiddish accents he uses for his family members. It really brings things to life.
I listened for an hour before work this morning and I can't wait to get back to it...
I’m listening to the audiobook too.

I'm not finished the book yet, but the thing I've found most surprising so far is how many drugs there were in the Rush world. I mean, it's been well-known and publicly acknowledged for a good 20 years now that the guys smoked a lot of weed, and Neil told the story of his teenaged acid trip in London a long time ago, but I'm surprised to find out how much coke they did in the late 70s and early 80s, to the point where Ged actually describes it as dependence. I don't think that's ever been mentioned before now.
Lee says they were open to anything but speed and heroin.

The Atmos is terrible. Sounds like it was recorded in an echo chamber. Unlistenable.
