QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jul 20 2012, 08:13 PM) Well, despite so many TRF people for some reason making a 180 in the last 5 years and throwing Snakes & Arrows completely under the bus... this is not the majority of how most people think.
ProgArchives:
Presto - 3.11 out of 5 - 411 people voting
S&A - 3.57 out of 5 - 493 people voting
rateyourmusic.com:
Presto - 3.27 out of 5 - 1,149 people voting
S&A - 3.50 out of 5 - 1,371 people votingit still sucks dude.

QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Jul 20 2012, 08:11 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 20 2012, 08:08 PM) how is it that rush themselves don't get to give the approval after this thing is engineered and before they release the damn thing? I was just about to post this too. Or....that they or someone else did not say....that's um...a little loud. it's unbelievable that this got the stamp of approval.
Mick
i guess once the music is recorded they give a quick salute and fly off to toronto and california.

I think elsewhere you said that RTB "delivered on the unfinished promises" of Presto.
Sales figures are facts, not opinion.
just because sales were good doesn't mean everyone was happy with their purchase.

QUOTE (troutman @ Jul 20 2012, 07:31 PM) QUOTE (spock @ Jul 20 2012, 03:30 PM) CA by a fair amount - at least on CA they figured out how to turn up the BASS dial! catch any halibut lately?

Sure its not t shirt and jeans. Will they have a style of dress? Will it be tuxedos? Anybody have good ideas ??? I just kinda assumed in my mind they would wear black tuxedos.
But it's an excellent question. I like your idea with steampunk attire or red jumpsuits.
I know I'm setting myself up for a huge disappointment...but when I heard they were bringing a string section....I envisioned a violinist going up to center stage to jam with Alex during Losing It.
They probably won't even play that song. But it would be very cool if they did!
My gut feeling is that they will go some kind of steampunk garb for the CA set just to blend in with the theatrics on screen. It's funny I say that and the first thing that pops into my head is Terry Gilliam's art. Can't see them wearing tuxedos and evening gowns (if chicks are in the orchestra).
They will probably wear some type of boring black attire... but I like your ideas!
From what I read of Alex's interview in Guitar World, the orchestra is going to be on stage for the entire show.
i can't believe it. the entire show? this is not good.

QUOTE (Cyclonus X-1 @ Jul 20 2012, 06:44 PM) Perhaps Faithless with the strings. that's the ultimate torture right there.

QUOTE (sdhonda @ Jul 20 2012, 06:34 PM) Probably just Far Cry, and maybe Workin' Them Angels. i hope you're wrong. everything on s & a is a pee/beer break but workin' them angels is a definite pee break.

QUOTE (jnoble @ Jul 20 2012, 05:36 PM) resurrect Where's My Thing. That was AWESOME live, espeically with the extended intro. please no. i can't believe that it was nominated for a grammy and went up against cliffs of dover. it's pop sound and keyboard synthesizer type sound that they use in the song is horrible.

QUOTE (jnoble @ Jul 20 2012, 05:53 PM) plodding boring preachy hookless horseshit. -

Presto has 1 amazing song (The Pass), one pretty great one (Chain Lightning), and the others go from meh to pretty bad.
Snakes & Arrows has 3 amazing songs (the first three), three pretty great ones (the instrumentals), two very good songs (Spindrift, TWWB), and five pretty disposable ones, but still it's a Far Cry from the mediocrity that plagues most of Presto.
Snakes & Arrows by a HUGE margin.Available Light alone is better than any track on Snakes.
Presto is light years better!!!!
and Spindrift basically blows.
Hahaha!
You almost had me there for a second. I thought you lost your mind and were serious. Available Light better than anything on S&A. Just about the worst song on Presto to boot!
Good show!
Always glad to entertain.
I'll be here ny whole life. Try the veal.
I did. It was very tender.
Available Light I think is perhaps Rush's most overrated song.
That's Armor and Sword
-----
I voted for Presto. Most enjoyable album, 2nd only to Hemispheres in terms of awesomeness.
Did you actually say Signals was their worst album and Armor & Sword their most overrated song all in the same day?
Dude, TRF break - time to reassess your life.
you're right armor and sword isn't overrated, it just plain sucks
yeah, but i expect that from you since you hate most modern rush. not from actual current fans of the band.
certainly no secret that i don't care for more than 1/2 the new album, s & a, but vt is ok. 90's well, enough said.

QUOTE (presto123 @ Jul 19 2012, 11:17 PM) I was a huge Dallas fan as a kid and still am somewhat although Colts have been my fav since move to Indy. Seems like every year for a long time now they talk about how good the Cowboys are on paper and then it never translates to the field. Do they ever put it together in the Romo era? you can always count on the cheerleaders being good on paper and on the field.

QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 20 2012, 10:29 AM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 12 2012, 06:19 PM) I'm not a fan of Caravan and one of the reasons is that I find Geddy singing too much, at least for me it's too much singing and not enough space. Vocally, the chorus in Caravan is weak....if the melodies/lyrics were re-worked to sound less forced, the song could've been decent....
incredibly weak and a terrible way to start the album. they haven't had a killer 1st song in a very long time.
-
that's a tough one because they both suck but i'll take presto because available light is ok and s & a just sucks immensely.

freewill, subdivisions, working man, dreamline all need to be tucked away.

QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Jul 20 2012, 10:48 AM) I had to stop listening to CA for now. Cause with each listen i found my opinion on it slipping. Same thing happened to me with lindsey Buckingham's new one. On my last listen I lost Wish Them Well. Which brings the number of songs i don't care for to 6.
Mickwish them well is a tough one to listen to. they said they had a tough time with it but what i don't get is, if you're having that tough of a time, just drop it and make a kick ass intrumental. call it wish them well.

catch any halibut lately?
No,
I hate going out to sea most of the time. I get bored. I need to walk the streams. I have my friends bring me Halibut.
i can see how it might be boring. closer to nature walking the streams.
