just my opinion but i felt like they should have left this track off the record and play an instrumental instead and name it the wreckers. it just doesn't sound like it has that distinct rush label on it. incredibly mainstreamish with sappiness thrown in. i'd be embarrassed if i heard it on the radio and would quickly change the station.

my greatest worry is that they overdo it with the orchestra and turn it into something similar to what metallica did.

Let's think...
Losing It, violin solo...
Power Windows; Manhattan Project has some orchestral work, so does Marathon towards the end...
Hold Your Fire has some good tracks where synth can be replaced with strings...
That's about it if I'm not mistaking, as far as "old" stuff goes.
They seem to be running with this orchestra sh!t, so when it comes down to it, they just better choose wisely.
i'll pass on the power windows stuff.
What?!?!
Manhattan Project and Marathon are awesome, and would be awesomer with live strings.
no thanks.

Chances are, they will be playing on at least half the songs throughout the entire show.let them on the stage for the new album parts, than give em' the hook.

Rangers back to their old tricks of big signings. Nice to see Rick getting a chance in the other conference.
Nash-Richards-Gaborik is one hell of a scary first line, at least on paper...
all that matters is making the playoffs and putting the puck in the net in the playoffs. gaborik sucks in the playoffs, at least this past one he did. richards was ok and i'm not sure about nash. i'm not crazy about the deal. i like to build up and win within the farm system with minimal big signings on the outside. nash is no spring chicken either.

speaking for myself, you get tired of requesting songs for so long and being hung out to dry. at this point i don't give a sh*t.

He's saying "We make the music we want to make, always have, always will. Take it or leave it."
yea but we put money in their pockets.

i couldn't care less what paul stanley thinks. i never liked kiss and i never liked paul stanley. good day sir!!

i wish they wouldn't add any strings outside of the ca stuff but if alex said that an older tune will be accompanied by strings, i'm betting that it's going to jacobs ladder.

They both hang around at the bottom of the shit pool along with HYF , i go back and forth
the shitpool got crowded quickly going into the 90's and than with s & a it was ready to spill over.

if that happened you would see more movement towards the exits than a army of ants heading towards the cookie jar.

QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 23 2012, 10:38 AM) Time to switch it up , but they won't. unfortunately you're right. when you've seen them a bunch of times, after a while i'm not going to say it gets boring but if you were reaching down to pick up your beer and you missed a note or two during one of these songs, it wouldn't bother you. please mix it up a little.

QUOTE (SUBDIVISIONS @ Jul 23 2012, 10:47 AM) The whole Darn thing its perfect 10/10 for me

Though it's one of Geddy's favorites on the album, he still acknowledges it isn't very Rush.
I hate that song.if even geddy is saying it's not very rush, than they should have turned it into something rush. it's such a sappy sounding tune. i don't like to use the word hate but i definitely don't care to listen to it. i really hope they don't add it to the setlist, than again it wouldn't surprise me if they did.
Then, it hit me...like a uh, two ton, heavy thing!!!

sorry dude i couldn't resist.

wow another 5/5 stars review.
"The Wreckers" is Rush playing the most melodic and poppy I think I have ever heard them play. And it's pretty damn awesome!
"Wish Them Well" is the other straight up rocker.
everyone here's things differently in this world.

QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 22 2012, 09:40 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 22 2012, 09:24 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 22 2012, 09:16 PM) After about 50 listens, I feel the same way about it as I did when I first heard it. Pretty bleh overall.
The band is old and there is no way this is even remotely close to stuff like Hemispheres, PeW, MP, stuff like that.
It's down in the bottom 5 for me. Somewhere hovering around there. The song writing and melodies are just so typical and not nearly as adventurous as they once were, and of course the vocals are just extremely painful to listen to at times.
It's better than nothing and the fact that they're old men still putting out DECENT albums is really a credit to them, but I cant possibly convince myself this is really the Rush that I love. It's the same guys, but not the same band. Ill take whatever I can get from them as long as they want to keep putting this stuff out and Ill still hand my money over to see them live knowing each time it could be the last, but this album is just not really that good. My opinion. Dont care who doesnt agree. Noone can convince me this album is amazing. If someone else thinks it is, thats fine, I would never argue that with them.listen to it again. i guarantee you'll like wish them well on the 51st listen.
Lol. Trust me I dont HATE the album. Im talking relative to the Rush that I loved. Their best albums. For me it's not close to that stuff. Believe me Id rather listen to this than some Nickelback album.
I may never grow to like the album as much as some others but I dont care about that. I thought they were finished after what happened to Neil. These last 3 albums are just a bonus and an excuse for them to keep touring and me keep seeing them before they pack it in so it doesnt bother me at all that I dont love this album.
i don't love the album in it's entirety either but there are some bright spots for me. i just hope they play the ones i like.

the producer is a spineless jellyfish for not telling them that s & a sucks. should have told them to start from scratch.
