  1. i wish they wouldn't add any strings outside of the ca stuff but if alex said that an older tune will be accompanied by strings, i'm betting that it's going to jacobs ladder.

I can't believe you like Roll the Bones better than S&A... They both hang around at the bottom of the shit pool along with HYF , i go back and forth the shitpool got crowded quickly going into the 90's and than with s & a it was ready to spill over.
  3. older track accompanied by the orchestra? i hope it's something that had strings in it to begin with.
  4. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 23 2012, 12:34 PM) QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Jul 23 2012, 12:22 PM) Oh boo f***ing hoo. If you guys are that upset about the strings, don't go. I'm going to enjoy the show because I don't care what they do. Maybe they will do all of Roll The Bones, see how much fun that will be if that happened you would see more movement towards the exits than a army of ants heading towards the cookie jar.
  5. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 23 2012, 10:38 AM) Time to switch it up , but they won't. unfortunately you're right. when you've seen them a bunch of times, after a while i'm not going to say it gets boring but if you were reaching down to pick up your beer and you missed a note or two during one of these songs, it wouldn't bother you. please mix it up a little.
  6. QUOTE (SUBDIVISIONS @ Jul 23 2012, 10:47 AM) The whole Darn thing its perfect 10/10 for me Maybe you dont figure it out yet But this is one of the best albums like ever! Just try to grab a new or old CD from your collection of any artist at any time and see if it stands against Clockwork angels Dont think so The Priests just made history again alex is that you?
  7. QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Jul 23 2012, 08:50 AM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 23 2012, 08:46 AM) QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Jul 22 2012, 12:05 AM) The Wreckers more like a Barenaked Ladies tune... That pretty much says it all. Though it's one of Geddy's favorites on the album, he still acknowledges it isn't very Rush. I hate that song. if even geddy is saying it's not very rush, than they should have turned it into something rush. it's such a sappy sounding tune. i don't like to use the word hate but i definitely don't care to listen to it. i really hope they don't add it to the setlist, than again it wouldn't surprise me if they did. Then, it hit me...like a uh, two ton, heavy thing!!! queensryche

  11. wow another 5/5 stars review. "The Wreckers" is Rush playing the most melodic and poppy I think I have ever heard them play. And it's pretty damn awesome! "Wish Them Well" is the other straight up rocker. everyone here's things differently in this world.
  12. QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 22 2012, 09:40 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 22 2012, 09:24 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 22 2012, 09:16 PM) After about 50 listens, I feel the same way about it as I did when I first heard it. Pretty bleh overall. The band is old and there is no way this is even remotely close to stuff like Hemispheres, PeW, MP, stuff like that. It's down in the bottom 5 for me. Somewhere hovering around there. The song writing and melodies are just so typical and not nearly as adventurous as they once were, and of course the vocals are just extremely painful to listen to at times. It's better than nothing and the fact that they're old men still putting out DECENT albums is really a credit to them, but I cant possibly convince myself this is really the Rush that I love. It's the same guys, but not the same band. Ill take whatever I can get from them as long as they want to keep putting this stuff out and Ill still hand my money over to see them live knowing each time it could be the last, but this album is just not really that good. My opinion. Dont care who doesnt agree. Noone can convince me this album is amazing. If someone else thinks it is, thats fine, I would never argue that with them. listen to it again. i guarantee you'll like wish them well on the 51st listen. Lol. Trust me I dont HATE the album. Im talking relative to the Rush that I loved. Their best albums. For me it's not close to that stuff. Believe me Id rather listen to this than some Nickelback album. I may never grow to like the album as much as some others but I dont care about that. I thought they were finished after what happened to Neil. These last 3 albums are just a bonus and an excuse for them to keep touring and me keep seeing them before they pack it in so it doesnt bother me at all that I dont love this album. i don't love the album in it's entirety either but there are some bright spots for me. i just hope they play the ones i like.
  13. the producer is a spineless jellyfish for not telling them that s & a sucks. should have told them to start from scratch.

  16. i'm not paying much attention to the storyline, i guess because i'm jumping all over the place with the songs i like.
  17. QUOTE (Oziumrules @ Dec 14 2010, 07:19 PM) QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Dec 14 2010, 03:56 PM) I know I've posted this somewhere else, heck maybe even here somewhere, but the reason that ticket prices are so high is because of scalpers!! Bands see what people are willing to pay to see them, and places like Ebay and Stub Hub allow scalping, so when the band sees that you are willing to pay $200+ for a ticket that was originally on sale for $85. you can't BLAME them for raising prices because people WILL pay that amount of money! You can also add all of the handling charges for the tickets, and convenience taxes, and a tip for the person that has to lick the envelope etc. THEN when someone goes to SELL the ticket via a scalpers site, they cite the handling fees etc. as their reason for selling them so high! I recently saw tickets for James Taylor at my local theater were going for $95. plus the usual fees. less than 24 hours after the show was sold out, Stub Hub had some on sale for $220. and up PER ticket! I've decided that I'm going to start buying twice as many tickets as I have in the past, and selling half of them on Stub Hub, so I can basically go to concerts for FREE! Plenty of "pee break" songs during a James Taylor concert. he's got some good songs but i wouldn't pay to see him.
  18. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Jul 22 2012, 07:34 PM) I normally avoid leaving anything of any value inside my car at any time. I also never lock the car doors, that way they don't have to break my window or door to get in to find nothing. i use to leave my glove compartment open also which was empty.
  19. QUOTE (apetersvt @ Jul 22 2012, 06:04 PM) If I had to choose, I would say 6 songs from CA and the rest from 74-84. that's sounds good to me. sign me up for that show.

Only MFH is a far superior product. Tru dat! I'll take MFH over S&A any day of the week the title track alone is better than s & a as a whole.
  21. QUOTE (rocketom @ Jul 22 2012, 08:51 AM) QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Jul 22 2012, 05:22 AM) The only tours that they did not play Limelight were GUP and Presto. I think that Tom Sawyer and YYZ are also shoe ins for the set. The 1st leg of Test 4 Echo they didnt play Limelight. They need to dump it along with Freewill. they need to but they won't. they know we don't like change within the setlist.
  22. what do these people do when they're on the stage and not being used? i guess they'll just dim the lights in that section where they'll be. this whole thing seems very odd.

Sure its not t shirt and jeans. Will they have a style of dress? Will it be tuxedos? Anybody have good ideas ??? I just kinda assumed in my mind they would wear black tuxedos. But it's an excellent question. I like your idea with steampunk attire or red jumpsuits. I know I'm setting myself up for a huge disappointment...but when I heard they were bringing a string section....I envisioned a violinist going up to center stage to jam with Alex during Losing It. They probably won't even play that song. But it would be very cool if they did! My gut feeling is that they will go some kind of steampunk garb for the CA set just to blend in with the theatrics on screen. It's funny I say that and the first thing that pops into my head is Terry Gilliam's art. Can't see them wearing tuxedos and evening gowns (if chicks are in the orchestra). They will probably wear some type of boring black attire... but I like your ideas! From what I read of Alex's interview in Guitar World, the orchestra is going to be on stage for the entire show. i can't believe it. the entire show? this is not good. Not a good thing...a fantastic change of pace. They are playing a lot of stuff they never played live...that's what I want that's what i want also but only use the orchestra for the songs it was intended for, not side b tunes, classics, or anything else that might be bringing to the table. Just because they are on stage doesn't mean the orchestra will be incorporated into every song. I hope you're right me too. I'm sure that Rush will utilize the string section appropriately. Just like they have on Clockwork Angels. You damn pussies...drop the "O" word. It's an 8 piece string section for 6 songs on the back side of the stage. They either push the trigger or have actual strings play it as it was recorded. You cry-baby old school "high school" "shopping mall" wanna-bes can sure rain on a parade. so you know for a fact that they are going to use the string orchestra for 6 songs?
  24. i think i got a handful of good stuff with the rest not so good. not pointing fingers but is it the producers job to make sure everything sounds good after the engineer is done with the mix? the producer knew there was something off when he heard it but is it too late to do anything?
