  1. Snaked has many talents besides singing every other word.... I am still waiting for him to call Ray and extend the tour into September...we need West Coast dates dammit....
  2. For the years leading up to this, it has been all hand-wringing, crying, and sour grapes about Rush not getting in, not to mention who did get in instead. Now we have those crying and wringing their hands about how Rush should refuse the honor. And if that weren't enough, we actually have a contingent who are upset that John Rutsey isn't included, as if the drumming on the first album was what really got them to where they are. It will be nice once this is all over, and people can just go back to bitching about the setlist. Neil whatever his name is, aka, the new guy.....can't hold a candle to the drumming of John Rutsey.... Every "real" rush fan knows that..... I think we should start a campaign to kick Geddy and Alex out of Rush for pushing John out of the band.....what the hell were they thinking..... And for the record, everything I say comes directly from Snaked, it's all his fault....rumor is, he doesn't even like Rush.... I've had the pleasure of being near him during shows and he is only singing along to every other word....what's up with that.... It's april 12, has it stopped snowing in the UP yet?
  3. only if they played MY setlist....and that ain't gonna happen....lol...
  4. aren't you supposed to be questioning why this thread is still going? LOL..... wings are hanging on to that 8th spot by a thread..... is it snowing in MI??? pouring in NYC....
  5. thank goodness, I was a bit worried.... but....good one....i should have not Have said NO OFFENSE, and just said THE RRHOF IS A JOKE! and it is..... I always enjoyed Rush as the ultimate underdog....
  6. So we learned that John Rutsey will not be inducted with Geddy, Alex & Neil into the RRHOF on April 18.... First off, I wasn't even aware that the actual individuals get inducted, I thought it was just the actual group.... I mean, these aren't ball players going into the baseball hall of fame in cooperstown.... I could understand not having Rutsey up there with Geddy, Alex & Neil if he was alive....I mean he was only in the group for a short time AFTER the first album was released... But since Rutsey has passed away, wouldn't it be just a nice gesture to include him.... Why ignore the history of Rush..... no matter what you think of Rutsey, drumming or otherwise, when you flip over the first album cover, there he is....and in fact, he was a member of Rush before Geddy. Don't forget that Jeff Jones was the actual orginal bass player for Rush.... But since Jeff Jones was only in the band a really short time, in 1968, its understandable that he really wasn't a member of rush per se.... But Rutsey was, he played all those shows at school dances, bars and small clubs.....and its great that there is film footage of him introducing the band... Imagine Neil with a mic behind the drum kit introducing the guys? I have always been a rush fan who was glad they were ignored by the RRHOF, I always thought the whole thing was silly, based mostly on the non rock musical entities in there.... I appreciate the fact that Rush is being very good sports about the whole thing and yes, they are happy for the fans who care about it, but i bet you deep down they are just being nice canadian boys.....rush doesn't need some RRHOF induction to validate their place in music history...
  7. just pushing this back to the top if anyone might be interested.... i will be at this show....feel free to email me direct nhlrush@hotmail.com
  8. I think they pick songs that they want to play and won't get bored of playing over the long haul, i am not so sure that they actually factor in how heavy or light the songs are.... but, as much as I am thrilled that they are still touring and playing so well, i gotta say I am really missing some of the all time live favorites like freewill, trees, xanadu, natural science, La Villa, Hemispheres.... I listened to the AFTK version of Xanadu the other day....just laid back on my couch, closed my eyes and listened at high volume....man, i am dying to hear it live once again.... I really hope Xanadu gets brought back before they decide to hang em up for good...
  9. I had this exact experience yesterday.... ...then I woke up i would be curious to know how many dreams diehard rush fans have had where Geddy Alex or Neil was in the dream in some way or another? I have had a few, a couple where I was glad it was a dream, cause I pretty much embarrassed myself...
  10. I say no as well... the only thing i could ever see, and its highly improbable, but I leave open the idea of Alex forming some kind of jam band just to have fun, like with the Dexters at the orbit room.... But I don't see it as a formal on the road touring band.... Of the three of them, I see Alex staying active in some capacity longer than Neil and Geddy who both seem like physical limitations will get the best of them before Alex.... Watching Alex and Geddy on stage playing rush material without Neil seems criminal....i mean are they really going to break into 2112 with someone else on drums? Just don't see it happening....Even if Neil gave his blessing, I just can't picture it... Would it be possible that Geddy and Alex one day play some 60's classics at some charity event one day, maybe, but not rush material....
  11. :o and I thought I was bigshot with 57 shows under my belt starting in '77 I may have some volume of shows, but you have something I can never have....seeing them in the 70s.... If I was in Field of Dreams and I was given one wish (besides piles of money).....my wish would be to be able to go back to the mid to late 70s and see Rush live.....that would be my wish.... and btw....139 shows = 139 times hearing Tom Sawyer....so.....I'd personally be okay if it ever got dropped..but we know thats not happening...
  12. Well, just to clarify, I never said $500 for a ticket to a limited engagement show..... one would hope rush would make it affordable for the diehards....afterall, they are rich just on my touring alone, lol.... as much as i would enjoy a show in a more intimate environment, I don't see this ever happening, although it would be so great... I think rush will go out on the typical arena tour.....let's hope there are 1 or 2 more tours down the road
  13. Caress of Steel has always been considered by Rush and fans as the bastard stepchild of the catalog..... I don't care how blasted I get on this forum. so blast away.... Caress of Steel KICKS SERIOUS ASS......all of it.... there, I said it....i feel better now, carry on......
  14. Don't think this kind of thing would ever really happen.... its good to dream once in a while....
  15. So in the thread about Tom Sawyer being dumped for the setlist, AikenRooster mentions the idea of a private concert..... I am really not sure how this would work as far as ticket distribution....perhaps you have to join some kind of fan club through Rush.com and then tickets could be sent out that way.... but...back to topic....imagine a series of shows (and this is for down the road, not during the current spring/summer 2013 tour) at a more initimate venue, say small theatres that hold between 1,000 and 3,000....maybe as big as Radio City or such, of course Massey Hall sounds like a no brainer... but imagine a show which features full album sides, like Hemisphers or side one PeW, etc. - perhaps extended medleys.....basically a show for the ultimate rush fan....No light show, no intro movies, no stage gimicks, just the three of them, playing.... I suppose I just wish I could head back in time to the Capitol theatre in passaic new jersey in 1976, except I was nine and didn't know who rush was.... I think if Rush ever wanted to do some kind of limited engagement of like 3 to 4 shows each in four or five major cities in smaller theatres and promote it as for the die hard rush fan only, well, I would be running to those shows.... I appreciate all the hard work Howard does with the lights and the overall presentation, especially if I have seats that are far enough away from the stage to actually see the big picture (thankfully, it doesn't happen too often) but I just go to hear the music and the performance, anything beyond that doesn't really interest me too much despite a well produced video and light show... Guess I am just getting nostalgic...better go play my blu-ray dvd of All the World's A Stage.... yeah, a full length rush concert film from the 70's would be really sweet.....
  16. I have always bitched about the setlist for one reason or another.... With a catalog so deep, its bound to happen... With this tour, I again found myself upset with the lack of songs from the 74-81 era....and the playing of so many from 82-89..... But at some point, all the bitchin isn't going to alter their setlist, we all know there are many songs they just won't play live, for a variety of reasons, and with the end of Rush starring us in the face by the end of this decade FOR SURE, I began to just enjoy the tour for what it is, Rush live on stage, playing their butts off night after night... It's disappointing that after 30 years of seeing this band live that I won't get to hear many of my all time favorites live (i.e. In the End, Fly By Night, etc.) but if I made a list of all the songs I have heard, I think it would go without saying that I was pretty lucky to hear so much varied material.... NOW COME ON BOYS, PLAY CUT TO THE CHASE AND BRING BACK AFTERIMAGE.....lol.....
  17. You fell upon great seats for this leg? but don't have the urge? I am not really sure why people spend time on a forum like this for a band that you are so ho-hum about seeing... No one has to do what I am doing to prove how big a fan they are....(i am going to many many shows in 2013, i don't think i should even say how many for fear of my sanity coming into question) I am treating this tour as if its the last one...cause....it could be....hoping not..but despite Geddy saying they will take some time off and recharge the batteries and then see what the future holds, as far as I am concerned, until they announce a tour and dates that are beyond August 4, 2013.....well, then this is it....and could be it for two years or longer.... I bitch about setlists more than others....but when push comes to shove, WHO CARES WHAT THEY PLAY..... If Ged, Alex and Neil on stage, playing music live, ANY music, isn't enough......not sure where to go with that... my favoirte line from the documentary was Gene SImmons, "What kind of music is RUSH? It's RUSH."
  18. If just the mere fact that Rush is playing on stage, regardless of the setlist, isn't enough for you to go see them again on this tour....then yes, I would say you are not die hard enlugh...
  19. That's me..... My setlist would be a host of old stuff off of RUSH, FBN and CoS that I never got to hear live, but they aren't too keen on throwing us a bone with those songs.... and I have learned to accept that they are not interested in some of that material, especially CoS....which I really dig, despite that its out there... but when you get Middletown Dreams and some other rarely heard live gems, well, its a good time to be a rush fan, cause we have a bunch of shows approaching...
  20. Hey snaked, did you notice we both used the word THRILLED in caps, and I was writing at the time you were so i didn't see your post til i posted mine... interesting... btw, you watching the red wings getting smoked 5-0 by the blackhawks? that's okay, predators suck too....the only time Bridgestone Arena will be rockin this spring is May 1...see you there....
  21. Leaving a concert because you don't know the material seems childish to me....and what if they finished up with some of your favorite stuff??? I have always been a critic of Rush's setlist.....hell, i have seen 139 rush shows and never heard fly by night live, EVER, and I been seeing them since '83.... I have never heard In the end, EVER, and the list goes on and on and on....but at some point you gotta just sit back and appreciate that they still play live, whatever the song selection.... Alex talks about how on this tour he is happy to play every song that makes up the setlist....seems to me, if they get bored themselves with a setlist they don't like....well.....that could put an end to touring for good.... I watched VH's recent show, albeit on youtube, okay, i know, not the same, but i was curious as to what they were doing.... David Lee Roth, in my opinion, is a joke....a washed up used car salesman....Eddie is still Eddie but his son has zero charisma AT ALL..... and the blood and guts of the group, Michael Anthony, and the key to their vocal sound, is far far away with Sammy and Chickenfoot..... Can't speak for Aerosmith, but VH's show, to me, was embarrassing..... Most dedicated Rush fans I know are THRILLED to hear so many Clockwork Angels songs, plus, by the time a next tour comes around, the ensemble will be gone and maybe we will hear The Anarchist and one or two others..... As far as on stage personality, I like the fact that Rush is made up of musicians, not a bunch of circus clowns, see David Lee Roth.... Can you tell when it comes to VH, i was a hagar guy....Rock on Chickenfoot....Check out Big Foot.....now that's today's straight forward rock n roll....not that VH crap they are putting out these days...
  22. If this tour had any of the following songs, I don't think I would be so bummed about no R40.... natural science freewill trees xanadu hemispheres la villa by-tor any of the R30 overture (even with no singing) I know there are many rush fans who are not fans of medleys....but it really killed me that when the Clockwork Angels portion of the second set was done, they went back basically to the first set and did more album cuts from the 80s/90s..... this was the time to break into a wild and crazy medley of some of the songs listed above....and I would have been totally fine if it was all instramental which would have been great to save Ged's voice..... I love Rush's lyrics and Ged's voice, but for me the driving force of the three of them is the music, the riffs, Neil doing his thing, Ged pounding away on the bass, Alex's solos.... I would be fine with the last 20-30 minutes of medleys with no singing or minimal singing.... Instead we got a very standard last few songs of Tom Sawyer and 2112, for those of us who have been to many many rush shows, I could live without these despite how much I love them on their own..
  23. I have an extra ticket for the July 31, 2013 show in Salt Lake City, a great seat, 3rd row Geddy's side, close to the center aisle....Sec 101, Row D, Seats ( 9 ) selling for face value $147.35 I don't have the ticket in hand yet, but will make arangements to either mail it to you the day I get it or can give it to you in person as I will be at the show.... please feel free to check my feedback on ebay...I have been a ebay member since 1999 and have bought and sold everything from cars, guitars, rush tickets, etc. with all smooth transactions...my ebay user name is nhlrush.... you can also contact me directly at nhlrush@hotmail.com
  24. I have a Section 50 (alex side) floor seat, ROW 3, seat 1 (which is the far outside seat near the hockey dasher boards and next to the lower bowl seats) for the Sunday July 14, 2013 Halifax show.... Looking to trade this ticket with someone for a similar seat for the first Halifax show on Friday July 12.... I am willing to accept a floor seat slightly further back than 3rd row since my ticket is all the way to the outside.... I had a similar seat for the final Fall show in Houston on Dec 2 and I actually thought it wasn't too bad....being on Alex's side on the floor is not as bad a view than a similar seat on Geddy's side as there aren't keyboards blocking the view and Neil's kit has a big opening to see him... On Geddy's side it's hard to see Neil's face as he's blocked by all his drums... I bought my 3rd row seat on the music today presale and they only allowed for the ticket to be picked up with will call at the venue so I don't have the ticket in hand and won't unitl Friday night July 12 when I get into Halifax... I would prefer some kind of trade but would also sell this ticket outright for exactly what I paid for it on the music today presale. The final cost was $149.70..... I also have an extra ticket for Salt Lake City, a great seat, 3rd row Geddy's side, close to the center aisle....Sec 101, Row D, Seats ( 9 ) selling for face value $147.35 thanks.....
