  1. Hey LedRush, I just got home at 2:45am and you know what, I was surprised to the contrary of what you observed.... where I was, 6th row in front of geddy, there wasn't much security at all, just a female usher who didn't really know how to keep control of her aisle as many people were coming forward to video and take pictures.... I also noticed the smoking area outside was crowded and only one female person in a yellow jacket who didn't seem interested in doing anything to stop anyone as she kinda just stood to the back of the area.....so, compared to a venue with massive police force and state troopers etc...i thought the casino environment overall was fairly laid back.... just my observation..... nevertheless, its up to you to kinda figure out the vibe of each venue and have some good sense of what you can and can not do...
  2. I am just giving you a heads up.....for 2012, 2013, I have seen a dramatic decrease in smoking inside the seating area during the shows.... maybe its different in the nose bleeds, but down on the floor and in the lower bowl seating near the stage, there is no smell or clouds of smoke anymore.... that's just my observation...once in a while, you can smell a cigarette or a little pot smell, but hardly ever these days.... and you don't want to make yourself obvious to the arena personnel working the floor...
  3. Have you really been to a lot of rush shows lately? I just saw the last four shows and there was no one smoking pot inside the seating area... its become very obvious where the pot smoke is coming from since cigarettes are not allowed anymore.... on the contrary, if you happen to go during intermission to an outside smoking area, which most places have these days, that is a different story...plenty of pot being smoked along side the cigarettes... I am not even sure that mohegan sun has a smoking area although i am sure they must, their website says smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas of the entire casino...
  4. It's such a sticking point with me b/c I really wanted to hear Middletown Dreams!!! :boohoo: you don't have to tell me....when they played middletown in cleveland last fall, me and a friend were high fiving each other.....same friend also texted me from the road with the word "limelight." even though it was a one word text, i knew the text was filled with disappointment.... I so wish Middletown was a regular song every night, i would trade in ANY of the other Power Windows songs... I like body electric just fine, but compared to other choices, like Afterimage, I could skip body electric all together.... so yeah, i feel your frustration.... bottom line with rush setlists....the catalog is so massive and they ignore such huge chunks of it, there will always be plenty of room to criticize if you want to...
  5. Is this person seeing them for the 1st time on the tour, or were they planning on seeing a 2nd show only to find out it's the exact same set they already saw? Because honestly, that's the entire crux of my question. Based on some of the responses I've seen here (not necessarily yours), is it really that hard for people to understand the particular slant of my question? I'm talking about getting repeat songs when you've already heard those songs on the tour and your 2nd show was slated to get something else based on the pattern, but then they decided to repeat your set, and you're stuck hearing exactly the same thing you've already heard when the whole point of the 2nd show was to hear the different songs. In that case, I think it's understandable that someone would be miffed. This premise really seems to be going over people's heads here. I am not positive, but i am pretty sure the deal with these people was that they saw one show in 2012 and then figured out they were going to get the same setlist for 2013 so they decided to sell.... I understand where you are coming from....and if it was a 10 song swap out, I might be able to understand better...but since its only a few songs, is the swap out really all that critical... esssentially its the same show night to night.... I guess since I am going to many shows, I don't really worry about a song here or a song there.... All I care about is the lights go down, the intro video starts and the band takes the stage and starts playing Rush songs....and thankfully, they do....
  6. Anyone can be upset that a song they were looking forward to wasn't played.... Middletown Dreams is among my all time favorite songs... I just saw Rush this past week in Nashville, Raleigh, Virginia Beach and Baltimore.....and got Middletown once...ONCE..... but.....such is life.....at least I got it once....and it was soooo goood... I saw on RIAB that somone is selling their tickets for an upcoming show because they have figured out which setlist its going to be and they don't like those couple of songs that night, so instead of seeing Rush, they are going to sell their tickets...that was the reason they gave for selling.... To me, this is a little much....the rotation is only a few songs.....and the way things have been going, you don't really even know for sure what setlist you might get....the pattern for 2013 is not consistent... Either you have a desire to see Rush live on stage or you don't....If you are going to nit-pick a couple of setlist changes from night to night and not go because of that, how much did you really want to see them in the first place... The shows have been incredible, the guys are sounding fantastic, the Clockwork Angels ensemble has been for me surprisingly enjoyable.... I personally would love Middletown Dreams over TBE and Limelight each and every show....but....it is what it is...and its awesome....
  7. Rush has definitely played more outside venues in the past few tours as compared to the 80s when they played mostly arenas, at least in the east... I have seen my share of shows outdoors in recent years but most of them are during the summer and usually its really hot and the air is thick and still....(forgive me) I can remember a show or two at Jones beach on Long Island where it was cool with a pretty steady breeze coming in off the water.... I wasn't in Atlanta on the first leg of this tour last fall when the temp in Alpharetta was about 40 and Geddy had on a leather jacket and scarf....I missed that show as Hurricane Sandy knocked out our power in NJ and I went home after the Charlotte show rather than continue on to Georgia... Well, last night was not freezing by any means....probably about 55 with a real steady breeze at the Farm Bureau Live Amp in Virginia Beach... Ged was decked out in another leather jacket and scarf and thanked the crowd twice for braving the cold and coming out... Almost all my rush concert experiences somehow involve me being hot, sweaty and thirsty as most shows are either indoors or outside during the summer.... Just curious if anyone has had a rush concert experience where weather really factored in....cold, rain, etc... I know there was that Chicago show where the stage got drenched before the show and it was cancelled due to electrical problems....but i am more wondering what people have gone through during an actual show.... anyone ever watch rush in an outdoor place with no roof and get rained on?
  8. Yeah Cut to the Chase has quickly moved to the top of my list of RUSH songs I wish to hear live. Gladly I was able to knock off Middletown Dreams, Grand Design, Body Electric and Where's my Thing? off that wish list which keeps getting shorter with every tour. Hope they continue to include unplayed songs in their setlists. Agreed! I love when rarely - if not ever - -played songs get included. I still grumble over how I'd wanted to remain a setlist virgin this tour, until I saw my show, but had two people slip on songs that I'd really wanted to be surprised by - 'Grand Designs' (thanks, brother!) and 'Territories'. Ah well. Now, I mostly hope for some Vapor Trails action - I think I would end up wetting my pants if 'How It Is' got played! Yeah! There are two tunes from Vapor Trails I want to see live, Sweet Miracle and the Title Track. Sweet Miracle and Vapor Trail......excellent taste.....sign me up.... and while you're at it, sprinkle me some of that Cut to the Chase.....with a side of Cold Fire, Double Agent & Everyday Glory..... 'Everyday Glory'... this is my dream song! I simply can't not get shivers when I listen to it. I would absolutely love to experience it live! :) Alex's guitar part in everyday glory is very shiver worthy.....

  10. He was super cool. I've met some nice people in my day who will take a minute to shake your hand and pass a plesentry or two.. but he was genuinely engaged in the conversation which really blew me away. especially because it was with you.... in all seriousnous, nice story.... now why don't you tell everyone how you were stalking neil's bus at the hotel in nashville.....lol.... oh right, it was just coincidence that you were staying there too you high roller you.... I got that hotel through Hotwire! Hahaha!!! I really wanted the Sheraton Music City but instead I got to sleep with Neil's bus in the parking lot. I suppose I am the stalker as I passed that bus on Interstate 40 on the way from nashville to raleigh, only to have you dopes say, "YOU ARE AWARE THAT NEIL IS NOT ON THAT BUS RIGHT NOW." like they were gonna stop and say hi if he was..... Well, at least if you are ever on jeapordy, you can be confident when you tell Alex Trebeck, "I'll take Rush producers for $1000 Alex."
  11. When you are first row at a rush concert with no one's head blocking the view you truly are "KING OF THE WORLD."

  13. I think it all depends on how YOU act.... if ur doing the wayne's world, "we're not worthy." it's gonna be weird.... if you just act as normal as possible and that he is not a big deal, i think you would have more success... I think the moment you say, "oh my god, you're neil peart." you are finished.... he knows he's neil peart, and he generally doesn't like that he's neil peart from a rock star perspective.... i think if he was pumping gas and said, "hey, man, i didn't know bmw made motorcycles," or something similar....and never mentioned music or rush or the rock world or drumming, i think you are going to have a much better encounter.... i can see, after a two minute chat at a gas station or similar, as you are saying goodbye, hey, by the way, really big fan of the band, that might be okay, what's he going to do if you've already had the exchange....he might even smile and be cool if you were normal.... i would feel compelled at the end to say that I appreciated his career, although I feel like I would probably screw it up somehow....
  14. great story, probably better off that you didn't see him... as you know, he really only likes talking to people when he is just some guy on a bike.... I think the second he knows that you know who he is, the whole thing turns into an awkward exchange and you are standing there with egg or in this case vodka on your face.... kinda sucks that this is the way it is, but...
  15. Get over yourself. I will try...thanks...
  16. so amateur..... here is a little bit of it..... Five days after the most notorious about-face in modern music – going from 30-year critical pariahs to induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (in Cleveland, no less, which broke the band by spinning 1974’s “Working Man” into an FM anthem) – Rush opened its Clockwork Angels tour in Austin. Two years since the Time Machine trek loaded up Moving Pictures in its entirety at the same venue, prog rock’s most enduring working men resumed their decades-old arena entitlement by picking up where the 1981 breakthrough left off. “Subdivisions” first came as no surprise, the Signals kick-off being the hit that followed up Moving Pictures to even wider mass appeal, its New Wave synthesizer snaking through the tune’s melodic minefield like any high school’s invisible class, to whom it was aimed. That the band then fired up its album-mate six songs later – a personal favorite I’ve experienced only twice before in almost three decades of Rush concerts – came as something of a shock. Guitarist Alex Lifeson’s furious jigsaw fingering on “The Analog Kid” may have evidenced a bit of age-related corrosion, but the sophomore Signals romp remains a thrilling r-u-s-h. first off.... ummm.... he said, "rush opened it Clockwork Angels tour in Austin" ummm.... did i miss something......I'm sorry, what the hell was I doing in Manchester New Hamphshire on September 7, 2012..... what was I doing a total of 13 nights in the fall of 2012, ending the day before my birthday Dec 2, 2012 in Houston..... and then he says that Analog Kid came as a shock.... really? I don't blame this Austin based writer for not seeing them in Dallas, San Antonio or Houston back in Nov/Dec 2012.....no big deal... but I believe the setlist is available in many places.... maybe I am being too picky and too critcal of this guy.... but despite the article being generally positive, it seemed as if it was written by a high school student...
  17. Not from PEI, a little further south in NJ and its gonna be a long long drive..... going to both shows and have a Section 50 (alex side) floor seat, ROW 3, seat 1 for show #2 if anyone wants to buy for face value or trade for a similar seat to the first show... I'd also be interested in just buying a good single or pair for show #1 in halifax.....i am sure i can sell my show #2 floor seat at the arena that weekend...
  18. I will never get tired of watching that woman trying to go up the escalator on her motorized wheel chair.... ABSOLUTELY NEVER.....
  19. They may have drawn well in Dallas, but for the taping of the DVD, it was the lamest, quietest crowd I can remember.... For whatever reason, the crowds in San Antonio and Houston were much more enthusiastic... I am curious if they are going to "cheat" crowd noise in between songs for the DVD release.....cause in between songs in Dallas you could hear a pin drop....I was shocked....let's just say it wasn't a Rush in Rio crowd, that's for sure....
  20. I am going to make a sign that reads "I MADE THIS SIGN JUST TO BLOCK SNAKE'S VIEW." of course the big question is will I be in front of you in Nashville or behind you..... In front of you works much better for my annoying sign....
  21. On opening night in Manchester New Hampshire, I absolutely hated the strings....I was side stage on Alex's side and I had a view of the strings that most others on the floor and arena didn't... I saw 13 shows in the fall and by the time I got to the three Texas shows, I had grown to really appreciate the strings, especially how Alex and Geddy would interact with them... But, I like the idea of the strings for this tour only....the Clockwork Angels tour.... Rush rarely does the same thing twice, hence the idea of no 40th anniversary tour, so I think when they hit Kansas City on August 4, the strings will be put to rest... As much as I appreciate the strings, Rush is a three piece and I think they should finish their touring careers as such....
  22. Nice May 3rd will be my 7 yr olds 4th show...........don't know how many I've been to but in the 25-35 range. Highlights include first show December 21, 1981 (21st day of the 12th month), September 1983 - 5 nights at Radio city including a 2nd row night. April 2, 2011 (my sons first show at age 5) and a few 1st and 2nd row nights............the next will be the RRHOF........whatever you think about the RRHOF it is an HONOR and to support my favorite band is going to be awesome. Its a significant night in the history of Rush and I wouldn't miss it. Despite my criticism of the RRHOF and my opinion which still feels the whole thing is a joke.....I do respect your appreciation of the night... But i had to tell you my first rush show was friday, september 23rd, 1983 at Radio City, the final night of the five show run there.....Was so lucky to buy a ticket from a guy on the street who was wearing a polygram record jacket....He had an extra ticket, It was a comped ticket with a price on it of $0.00 - it was third row center at Radio City..... He charged me $40, which for a 15 year old in 1983 was a LOT of money, believe it or not.... But I got to experience the thrill of a lifetime....which of course was priceless...I feel really lucky and blessed to have had that experience....
