Wow. That's a lot of demands on time, playing, logistics, production, etc. Plus, it's not like every ticket is $40 or so. Many fans really can't afford to see them over and over. Have to agree with the economics as well....Rush has flooded the market with shows in the past 7 years and with ticket prices the way they are, i know a lot of fans who would like to see them more but just can't, especially with how much they have spent on tickets and travel the past few years.... a lot of the upper levels of arenas have been either curtained off or been somewhat empty....some crowds have been as small as 5,500 fans.... as much as i want to go to rush shows anytime i can, i have to think that at some point you have to build up a little demand, if you oversaturate the market, you won't get the turnout...

R40 is not happening....period.... Geddy has stated numerous times that he wants an extended break... and recently he joked about why did it have to be R40, why not R41 or R42, and that would be funnier... Alex has said a few things in the recent past that have excited the fan base, only to be let down later.... I gotta think that's the case here... I have been an advocate big time on this board for an R40 tour.....and with this tour ending August 4, R40 could start September of 2014 and that would give them a full year off the road....but i get the idea that Geddy wants like a year and half to two years off the road... Now maybe in the late fall, after they have rested for a while, they start kicking around the idea that they could do some kind of limited tour or a fall 2014 tour, etc....and i don't think it would take much to put something together.... but they have toured 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013.......that's a lot.... i always hope i am wrong....very wrong, but i don't see rush on stage in 2014, and most likely 2015..... what would really be great is announcing that another leg of the Clockwork Angels tour will kick off in California in September of this year.....plenty of markets to go to that they skipped in 2013, but i don't see that happening either.... btw, huge enthusiastic crowd at Saratoga on tuesday...good to see them packing a place, some of the attendance for this tour have been a little weak....

NO CHANCE.... not even a slim chance.... as much as they are enjoying this tour.....and the string ensemble, and the setlist, etc... they have toured 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013..... they haven't toured this much since the early 90's.... they have 15 shows left..... i think when those 15 are done, you won't see rush on a tour until at least 2015 and possibly 2016... a long break will be upon us come August 5....

"We are going to be ready for the start of the season," King said Saturday during a press conference to discuss the damage to the 30-year-old arena from floods throughout Alberta that forced the evacuation of about 100,000 people and caused three deaths, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. But getting the building ready to go won't be easy. The Saddledome "is a total loss at the event level," King said, and the arena has been flooded with millions of gallons of water. "We cleared some of our event level, but not all of it," he said. King said restoration efforts will begin when the flood waters recede. "We are ready to go," he said. "Our executive group met this morning and went through a number of tasks. We're ordering everything, including hockey equipment, right now. "It's very difficult to describe millions, millions gallons of water sitting [in the Saddledome]." The dressing rooms, Jumbotron control, ice plant, Zambonis, rink and at least two lounges -- as well as thousands of seats -- are underwater. However, "We're fairly confident that we're structurally intact," said Libby Raines, the team's vice president of building operations. The water is starting to recede, Raines said, and "Our objective is to get the building [ready] for upcoming events ... get everything ready so that we're ready to go [for the season]." The Flames have told team personnel to stay away from the building, and Raines said that though the team is grateful for offers of assistance it's urging people to stay away because the site isn't safe. "We appreciate that so many people want to help," she said. "[Right now], please stay away from the site." He did say get ready for events.... so perhaps there is enough time to do what's necessary....

Wow, those pics blew my mind.... to think an entire arena floor and lower bowl under water like that.... Can't imagine they could host a concert on july 24.... Not sure what the turnaround time is to return the saddledome back into its former glory but I wouldn't be surprised if this affects the Flames as well this upcoming october....

i don't know anything more than reading that article.... it would seem if the lower bowl is filled with water up to the luxury boxes, i just don't see the arena being ready for a concert in a month, and wondering if it would even be ready for the Flames for the next nhl season in october.... speculation on my part, if i was planning on going to this show, i would inquire sooner than later.....

That's awesome..... so funny about taking your spouse....my wife loves me....but really does like rush's music....she is the biggest country music fan I have ever met....(go figure) soooo... she went with me once to see Rush, the same summer we got married in 2004....(yeah, when you are newlyweds you do things you wouldn't do 10 years later) well, she just couldn't take it, it was so loud for her...we were about 15 rows back at PNC arts center in Holmdel, NJ.... it was complete torture for her....she said her ears were ringing for days afterwards... nowadays she likes to imitate geddy singing, "my uncle has a country place, that no one knows about." so my wife got to see me enjoy one rush show, while she kinda "suffered" through..... hence why i asked about how much your wife likes rush... times have changed for sure, now i see women rush fans dragging their husbands to shows.... Congrats on the first row tickets, you won't ever forget it...

I agree. Front row is nice, but I think you get a better "show experience" by being back a bit. I've seen Rush from every angle (except backstage) including the obscured view and the distant view. The big screens help make up for lack of "up close" vision and the light show when you are back a bit is spectacular. I always like seats around the mixing board, if I can't get up next to Geddy. You get a great view and the sound is always good. I think you guys are missing the point.... sure, sitting 10 rows back has some advantages, so does being by the sound board, sound wise....and being across the arena floor in the lower bowl adds to the overall visual elements that Howard does such a great job with.... BUT - there is something to be said for front row.... sure, 2nd or 3rd row is great, you are right there, you are "in" the show.... but there are still heads in front of you... being in front row is a unique experience....to take your spot against the barracade, laying your arms across "your space." knowing that there is nothing between you are the band, it is different than 2nd or 3rd row... I have had the joy of front row a few times, back in the day when you didn't have to spend a mortgage payment to do it... It's up to the person shelling out the cash to decide how much value it has for him.... If he needed to get a part time job just to pay for front row tickets, well, that's dedication and his decision.... I am not saying how much money you should spend or whether its worth it but one thing is for sure... LIFE is about LIVING..... we do it once, then we are history.... so if he wants to make the sacrifices that are needed to secure front row.....well....you know he will probably go home after the show a very happy man... (um, is the wife really that big a fan that you want to spend $860 just on her ticket? you could go solo...she'll understand....um....i think....lol) just kidding.....sort of....

its too late for LN VIP, you have to buy them right when they go on sale to have any chance for the first few rows....at this point if they are available you figure they are going to be somewhere in the 10-15th row range as they promise a seat in the first 15 rows....it goes without saying that its really ridiculous that you don't know where you are going to be sitting until you get the ticket right before the show....there has to be a better system than that....

And for everything else there's Mastercard... wow, I thought it was $860 for the pair, now I see $860 each.....yeah, that is a lot for a night....man i am glad my wife doesn't like rush....its saves me a lot of money...tougher call than i thought...

Money is a thing that is all relative to how much of it you have.... I can't imagine spending hundreds of dollars to go out to eat, but people with money do and don't even blink an eye... then again, i have family members who don't have any money and they go to outback steakhouse and you figure, oh how much could that possibly be... well, start adding in drinks, apps, main dish, dessert, coffee, etc. etc. and it gets pretty expensive, more than I like to spend on just food, when the same amount of money in a supermarket would get me food for a week... regarding rush though, you have to factor in one thing that doesn't apply to spending money on restaurants or vacations or sports cars, etc.... Rush won't be around forever.....it's a fact...there will be a day when there will be no more rush shows....and that day will happen by the end of the decade or so.... one thing about front row, make sure they are in the middle, front row way over on alex or geddy's side really sucks, its a harsh angle and you can't see...you don't want to spend that kind of money and be upset.. i think saratoga has a pit in front....just be sure you know what you are buying.... I say go for it if its important to you...i personally wouldn't spend that kind of money for a ticket, but then again, i have been in front row and I am going to many shows this summer and probably spending a fortune just on travel so it all evens out... Bottom line in life, you can always make more money down the road, you won't get rush shows down the road.... if money is really an issue and this is important to you, there are ways to make extra money like selling some things on ebay, etc.... Hard to put a price on a memory that will last a lifetime....

I don't know....I just listened to HF again....just to be sure about my feelings.... I guess I am in the minority, I think this amongst their best ever.... I think this song and album (Anarchist is my fav from the new album) are way more advanced than anything off albums like Presto, Roll the Bones, Test for Echo, and I like those albums just fine.... This album for me has reached a new level...don't wanna say its their best ever, but its right there on the shelf with the others.

We are always entitled to our opinion, that's what forum's like this are for.....so no one can say you are right or you are wrong about your feelings about any topic... I am just surprised that people don't have more love for HF..... For me, HF blows away Jacob's Ladder, but again, its just how I feel. The first time I heard HF I said instant Rush classic, to be put on the mantle right next to all the songs you listed....

Hard to rate songs.... But I know the jam portion of this song live and the jam parts of The Anarchist are my two favorite parts of the current tour... Alex's harmonics at the end of his solo in HF gets me everytime....the intensity is just pure RUSH...... It is really incredible that we are getting this kind of output from these guys at this stage of the game, glad they keep striving to move forward and break new ground, I think it's what makes them so special for people who love their music...

if what Geddy is saying now, or at least joking, about a possible R41 or R42......you would hope some of the 93-02 stuff would make the cut.... I would think The Anarchist, Headlong Flight and possibly one more would make the next setlist.... I really hope they bring back some of the all time songs.....any of these would be enjoyable.....trees.xanadu...freewill...natural science...AFTK, Hemispheres, La Villa...any song from the first four albums.... I love the 82-91 stuff but I have heard so much of it on multiple tours since those years..... what we don't want, at least me, is stuff like Superconductor or Roll the Bones or Distant Early Warning, heard those plenty.... So glad they finally gave me Middletown Dreams but with the rotation i only got it once in six shows from nashville to atlantic city... Doubt they will bring middletown back for another tour but that, Afterimage, Cold Fire or Double Agent are the ones I would hope for most...

Everyone knows Counterparts is their best album start to finish....right? Come to think of it, start every rush show with TS just to get it out of the way... By best, you mean the worst one and the one that reversed the positive reception of the band by fans as measured through sales, right? i am actually serious and probably in the minority, but Counterparts may be my favorite Rush album.... Cold Fire, Double Agent, Cut to the Chase, The Speed of Love, Leave That Thing Alone and Everyday Glory are among my all time favortie rush songs... I really like Animate, Stick It Out, Alien Shore, Between Sun & Moon and Nobody's Hero... granted, its so hard to compare their eras.... I also Love to death the first three albums, maybe more than any other rush.... But then I really dig AFTK, Hemispheres, PW...... okay, i like it all.. For me, Counterparts is a heavy rush album, and is a great listen start to finish, but that's me...I understand those that aren't into it...it happens with music.... I don't like the Greatful Dead or Pink Floyd (except for a very few songs)....Why? don't know, its just How It Is....

you have great taste.....everyday glory for me is one of the most underrated Rush songs of all time......incredible alex textures and solo, gripping lyrics, soaring ged voals.... make you a deal.....if they ever play it (and you know that's never gonna happen so i can write this with no worries) you can piss your pants, i will shit my pants, and we can send them the dry cleaning bill with a note of explanation..
